I was obsessed with dinosaurs and saw this 6 times in theaters as a kid, with different people almost every time. That's how epic it was. When CGI was brand new and blended beautifully with practical effects. Not completely depended on as it is now. It would've made more sense if they used chicken or duck DNA to patch the gaps in the Dino DNA. Grant said in the beginning that dinosaurs are more closely related to modern birds than reptiles.
Female birds have 2 ovaries: one on the right that is fully developed and functions, and one on the left that is an underdeveloped clump of cells that doesn't do anything for most birds. In many birds (including domestic chickens and ducks), if the right, functional ovary dies due to an injury on infection, the left ovary develops into a testes, resulting in a complete sex change including plumage, call, behavior, and even reproduction. It happens surprisingly often with ducks, if you hang around a duck keeping Facebook group long enough, you'll see people complaining about their ducks "going drake". It's generally considered a negative in poultry because males don't lay eggs and they're territorial, so if you end up with too many, they start to fight.
It just would've made so much more sense in the context of the movie and reality.

I think it was a great move to hire Richard Attenborough to play his role after an glorious lifetime work both in films and but also on theather and during a quite long period Lucas wanted to have some classical actors like Alec Guinness and later on the prequel series 1-3 even Christopher Lee, the man with so commanding voice taht children will pee on theor pants. The same is with voice of Darth Vader in Star Wars as the voice actor is James Earl Jones, also a legend from having this almost unnaturally low and also powerful voice. The man who acted as a voice of Darth Vader as I was a child is still here with us. God bless him!

Pretty accurate dinosaurs for the knowledge we had then. But as we learned more about dinosaurs, you'll see it get reflected in the sequels. Only dino was off - the Velicoraptors. • @johnnehrich9601
      @johnnehrich9601 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Absolutely, although I remember the gasping from the trailer where the public first saw Dr. Grant's scene where he first sees the brachiosaurus. Up until that point, movies used stop-gap clay animation (as per the 1933 King Kong, meaning the effects hadn't really advanced much for 60 years) or they would film a Gila Monster up close from a low angle and then project it up behind the actors.
Jurassic Park also represented the first time most people had encountered so-called dinosaur renaissance (started in the 1960's). Prior to this, dinos were considered so dumb there was a joke about a brachiosaurus alarm clock, where the animal would bite himself on his tail and could sleep for the hours it would take for the sensation to reach his brain. These beasts were also originally thought to be sluggish, so the intelligent speedy beasts portrayed in this movie was also a shock.

@@johnnehrich9601 Exactly! They looked so real. It was stunning! After that, we all started looking at birds a little differently.
You're right, before that it was kind of like Jason and the Argonauts or Land of the Lost TV show style animation. It has it's charms but can't really make you feel like you're actually seeing real dinosaurs like Jurassic Park did.

Though I watched it on VHS sometime later in 1993 with my dad and absolutely loved it. Eventually I got some Jurassic Park merch (a couple of toy's, a board game, poster, t-shirt, and both the first Sega Genesis game and Jurassic Park 2: The Chaos Continues on Game Boy). Hi Dear Mr Nice Salvo! I'm more used to se you on the music reactions, but a bit a of side kick is not too bad. This movie at the time was ground braking as it was thse two frinds George Lucas and Steven Spåiewlbergs test zone or test bed for what Lucas could later on create on his Industrial Light and Magig firm making these CGI effects. But why this over 20 years old movie looks so great is not about the effects. Most of the whole movie is apart of some exeptions is actually filmed as it is, in by that I mean these dinoes where actually made and move and in real size too. The T-Rex skin was made out of clay that was constantly moistured. It is quite expensive to make 1:1 models and somewhat working ones, but human eye and brains are still so good that you can tell at leat 90% of the time what has been made with GGI. Those film makers have to be sure that today their megabudget porjects don't seem to be lame compared game insdustries almost at least in next few years photorealistic games. Of course there will be always markets big enough to traditional filming and films. People will need them too. But no teenager will be satisfied if you have some sort of digital visual fast forward soup to your eyes. Everyone shoulhd use even in traditional films some new technics, but staying as they usuakky are more intimate films, they will have their place always. For action of Sci.Fi movies I do recomen that ypu hire the best ones to make the GGI. I do not know how expensive some of these most advanced tecnologies are, but I was about ten years ago in a electronics shop to look for a new computer and they showed us a TV , relatively big TV-Screen maybe 60' inch, and asked me if I wanted to see how it works in 3D. I don't know how expensive that technology really is and how much time it requires to be in hand but as in those promoting videos was a part when we looked at an acher, first behind then rotating to the front and when he fired his arrow I almost fell as I tried to dodge it and no 3D glasess involved... Whatta ****??? I don't know the explanation for this nor too good for the spatial sound I have useed for years now, as i DO KNOW, there are some altering on different frequences with a delay so that it actully sounds like the sound comes around you and not in between your two ears as it has been with headphones. Probably devolopeded first in game industry and the sold to others.

It is only a constructive criticism from the point of view of a video-reaction consumer.

I’m having a hard time getting over the persistent belief that films made before last year are somehow less accomplished in one way or another. Visual and special effects have been around since the beginning of film (George Méliès made special effect films in 1896!). Color motion picture film was successfully tested in 1902. ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ nailed perfect visual effects back in the late 1960’s. It’s never technical accomplishment that makes a film great, it’s the vision of the director. I’m not throwing shade or complaining, I just pointing out that I hear similar expressions of surprise from many Film Reactors. Film has a long and rich cultural history. ‘Jurassic Park’ was a watershed moment in digital effects, yet so many digital effects film since have failed to be as compelling,…because…director.

Salvo, my apologies for not commenting on the video as I would like to leave a movie suggestion. “ School Ties”, 1992 starring Brendan Frasier, Matt Damon, Cole Hauser, Chris O’ Connell and more. Hard hitting film concerning racism that is still unfortunately, imo, relevant today. Hope you give it a watch 👍🏻

    HAMMOND: Are the children alright?
GRANT: Well they got attacked by a T-Rex and almost crushed under a car and Timmy got thrown off a cliff and into a tree and stampeded and electrocuted and died and head trauma and almost impaled and Lex is covered with dino snot, so.....
    HAMMOND: ..........
GRANT: ....yeah sure, the kids are fine and dandy.
T REX: BEHOLD MY GLORIOUS ME, THE ULTIMATE APEX PREDATOR. MY EYESIGHT IS ACTUALLY EXCELLENT AND YOU NOT MOVING JUST MAKES IT EASIER FOR ME. I AN AMBUSH HUNTER SO I HAVE DECIDED THAT MY HUNTING STRATEGY WILL BE SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS AS I CLOMP WITH EVER-INCREASING VOLUME TOWARDS MY UNSUSPECTING PREY AND........HEY WHERE DID EVERYBODY GO?
    GRANT: Get the gun!
SATTLER: I can't get it unless I move!
GRANT: Tim! Stop doing the potty dance and get the gun!
LIL TIMMY: If things keep going the way they've been going, I will 100% shoot myself in the face.
GRANT: Okay you've got a point.
LIL TIMMY: Its not like it'd do you any good. You fired four bullets at a killer dino literally less than 12 inches from your face and didn’t hit it a single time.
    SATTLER: Sick burn.

The only thing I'm going to say that's a lie is about the whole T-Rex Vision being based on movement that is inaccurate. And naturally Velociraptors are actually smaller but for the movie it works.

Great reaction. This movie blew us away when it came out. The 1st T-Rex roar reverberated around the theater with an intensity unmatched. We watched it, we listened to it & we felt it in our bones. I let the electric fence scene slide by, but with all the scientific research they did for this film to make things as accurate as possible. Always wondered why they used Frog DNA to fill in the gaps. Earlier in the film they make it clear, dinosaurs are related to birds not amphibians. Birds & amphibians are two separate branches of the evolutionary tree. (Should have used bird, DNA.)

They needed them to find a way to reproduce. Birds wouldn't give them that. They took some creative license with the frogs.

Hey, for context, I work 50-60 hours a week at my normal job, I have a main youtube channel th-cam.com/users/salvog and I make content for my patreon. I do NOT have time to "fake" watch movies I've already seen. Everything on this channel are first time watches. But yeah I am sure some people fake it, for sure.
