jonesy24 I remember in like 2014 or something, he marked it 10m out from goal, takes the shot and hit the far left post to make it out on the full. In that same game, he kicked a goal from 60m 😂.

that's right, one kick doesn't define a whole career, Lingy soldiered on to become a good player and a premiership captain
C.Ling went on to be better than a good player, but that has to be the worst miss in AFL/VFL history. You couldn’t do that if you tried 😂

Shannon Grant kicked so many awesome goals in his career and won several matches of his own boot, yet he'll mostly be remembered for that clanger.
I think it would be harder to miss them than actually kicking it
it is easy to miss it - lots of variables. the person is moving , ball drop. ball is spherical, defensive pressure..

I have a funny story about Jesse White. He came to my footy club with Heath Grundy for a rural AFL thing and it was our B&F night. Both were at the start of their careers, but bloody Jesse White comes to our B&F and gets the best on ground performance for most drunk and raucous. Caused a huge scene, got us kicked out and did a shirtless run up the main drag to the next pub.
Heath Grundy went on to bigger things and he didn't, and I like to say it was our B&F night that was the reason.
1:53 that is absolutely awful. For a professional AFL footballer to miss a set shot on a very small angle 15 metres out is bewildering.

Steven Kernahans miss after the siren was shocking as well, all he had to do was kick a point because the game was tied up.
Ling's was the worst miss in AFL history, second was C.Bruce's in the last clip. So in front by a few metres, only to miss, especially like Lingy did, sheesh!

i was in the north cheer squad when grant missed, the ball hit the post so hard, i can still barely hear it today. My heart sunk, was horrible.
rob that 50 metre penalty was more like a 40 metre penalty. You were robbed of 10 metres, as the mark was taken 5 or so metres inside 50 so the kick should’ve been on the goal line 10 metres out.

Expected Simon Eishold's missed set shot in the '87 preliminary final would get a mention, especially considering what followed.
Even with a set shot in front of goal, it’s surprising how many cannot kick a simple looking goal.
The funniest ones are the guys who miss from 5 metres because they tried to kick it out of the stadium.
Funny how Malcolm Blight has one of the worst misses but also the greatest after the siren goal ever.

Yeah the one up on the Gold coast.
Malcolm Blight did it all. Including missing even a point after the siren which would have made it a drew. He'd already kicked a point which made the game a drew but was given a free kick for a infringement after the kick and of course mist everything retaking the the shot a goal so North lost the game.
