I think that the ritual is still practiced in some Slavic countries. I’m Slovak and I remember it from kindergarten. We would celebrate the first day of spring with our teacher by burning “Morena” (a doll made of straws) and throwing it into a river or brook. I’ve always found it fascinating.
Thank you thank you thank you ....I am very grateful for you making this video ...hopefully I will understand her more and our connection can grow even further
very nice video :) I remember burning and drowning morena when I was in early elementary school(maybe 15 years ago). I didn't understand what it meant back then. I wonder if kids still do it as part of school...

There are many old traditions in Poland to this day. Often people do not even know that it is our past. E.g greeting through the threshold = bad luck (90% of people in my country ) In Poland, they are the most up-to-date: Marzanna (Topienie Marzanny), Kupala Night, (Noc Kupały), śmigus-dyngus, painting eggs (malowanie jajek), on the first day of spring Dożynki this Święto Plonów (Harvest Festival) Rituals related to After death, souls go to the land of eternal happiness (maybe 2% of people right now), The birth of a child - Nowe życie the greatest joy in the family, but the demons waited with no less joy for the Slavic descendant (red ribbons protect against throwing charm), Baba Yaga it is now a fairy tale told to naughty children before bedtime ( Yes, I know we are terrible that we say these things to children xD) There is a lot of it. see the descriptions and photos - (Not) forgotten Slavic rites and rituals and Slavic gods culture.pl/pl/artykul/niezapomniane-obrzedy-i-zwyczaje-slowianskie and bogowieslowianscy.pl/ I know Poland is seen as a very Catholic country but our culture is also important to us. Greetings from Poland
Sleep paralysis part is complete garbage. Forgive me for being so blunt. Whoever has enough accumulated vital energy and high frequency of vibration can "call" for this entity and expect answer most probably very next time this person goes to bed. She appears slowly, her dark energy fills the room or space in general inside a lucid dream this caller person is having in the moment. She is a primal mother, there are many names for her all around the world, many expansions and forms. She doesn't show up to interfere with anyone's life or anything, she just basks you in her dark light and energy for a brief period. Almost like she is curious to see how the "caller" is doing in life and to let him know she is there for real. At least that is my experience with her, if any of you guys had something similar or anything please write about it in response to my comment. Thank you for reading and answering!
well you wrong, Morena and Mara are different things, Morena is a goddes while Mara is a demon also Weles is the patron of witches, make a better research pls
Fellow Slavs, is the ritual still alive in your countries?
Yes in Slovakia
Maslenica in Russia
Even in America we follow the gods
Hail Marzanna!
stan morana for clear skin❄️
She's fascinating. Also that end of winter ritual is very interesting
Indeed. A shame that many Slavs have forgotten the ritual.

I hope for this tradition to never die 🤞 as I don't see it so popular now in Poland as it was when I was a kid...:(
I'm sorry to hear that. I may have to come over personally...
my grandma got in trouble in school for skipping class to play out the marzanna ritual with her friends
Your gmoms did the right thing
Your grandmother is amazing

Thank you! I'm glad that you liked the video.
Very knowledgeable video, though it's not Mar-zanna, it's Ma-rza-nna. "Rz" is read as ONE letter in almost all Polish words.

in slovenia, we still burn effigies at the end of winter, but we just call them "starka zima" or old lady winter

Pity that You didn't mentioned Mokosh by the topic of Mother Nature archetype.
I'd rather leave it for the video about Mokosh :D
