    I use the Sony MDR-Z7 with the copper Kimber Kable, similar to this video, and I just love the way the combination sounds. People can debate all day long that the cable doesn't make a difference, but it absolutely does.

    • @darcy0702

      It does. My sensitive ears can hear the difference every time I change my headphones cable

    I tend to vastly prefer copper cables, they preserve the natural warmth of music and dynamic impact. Music sound more tangible and "real" because of the weighty impression it imparts. Better transmission of bass spectrum (or not as good transmission of treble spectrum as silver, whichever happens to be the case).
    Silver cables sound leaner, more transparent but less anchored, more ethereal. There are not many headphones I would use a silver cable with but the Nighthawks are definitely one of them.
    Great video!

    I'm glad I came across this video. I just pre- ordered a pair of focal Celeste headphones. I'll see if their cable system will be all I need hooking up to a Bose companion 5 desk top speaker system. 4' speaker cables on the headphones. I might have questions for you.

    Thanks for this..I'm just wondering..I have the Sony MDR-7506 type headphones...if I cut the cable..and soldered on a 3.5 female input...would that mean I can then just plug in one of these type cables? Just want to check if that would actually work! Thanks.

    Great video I see you have nightowl headphones. You had night hawks and sold them are the night owls much better? I'd just like your opinion. I use the nighthawks everyday. Thanks

    • @phototristan
      @phototristan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The nightOwl has a bit more of a normal type response , which I like. A deeper lower bass and a little bit more resolving highs, however not quite as mid rangey. I like both headphones but do think the nightowls are technically better.

    The thing is, I have mdr z7 and the ends are 3.5 and 2.5. The sony pha amp is balanced but with the mentioned type connections. So, can i add a 4.4 adapter to the 3.5 slot and use a 4.4 balanced and actually work?

  • @PIanetal

    So my sony MDR-HW300 cable wiring is only allowing me to hear audio in my right ear. I was wondering if buying a new cable is a good idea or will it mess with the headphones?

    • @phototristan
      @phototristan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It could likely be the cable, but may be the connector itself. I'd try a cable first though.

    The only z1r Kimber kable that's available is this one SONY MUC-B20SB1
    Which is not the one you have, where can anyone find yours? And are these (SONY MUC-B20SB1) as good as yours?

    • @phototristan

      The SONY MUC-B20SB1 is the same cable, but for 4.4mm balanced connections.

  • @bunozen1

    Kimber and Cardas cable are my fav. I agree with you on the pure silver and cooper cables. Also a pure silver rca cables to connect Dac and hps amp makes a better signal transmission.

  • @Tacet137

    • @phototristan

      @@MeteoraEra Yes they are the same in terms of build. If you're amp has 4.4mm balanced out, then then that is what you should probably use.

    Sure these Sony cables are nice, but at $300 ??? You gotta be kidding me. Moon Audio has very high end cables, still very expensive. I too wish the industry would standardize. Just bought a $2k Astell&Kern player, but they use an almost priporitor 2.5mm connection. So now to listen to my Byr DT1777 with mini 3-pin XLR to the cups, and 2.5 mm on the player, ive gotta get a custom cable made up...Its like they do it to you just to make your life more difficult. I hear THX is coming out with a can that is Bluetooth, but actually has a DAC and Amp built in...Sounds to good to be true,, but well see...suppose to ship in August

    • @allansh828
      @allansh828 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      $300 cable is actually quite cheap. Kimber makes $4000 cables.
