I'm a great fan of Tom Nelson work, being said that the comment about outsourced Engineers like Tom don't have to outsource anything Thomas Edison outsourced Tesler for his brilliant mind and he died penniless in these fiscal trying times Tom Nelson is selling engines acquittal it to $40,000 or more. I've talked to Tom Nelson he's a real California dude who loves hot rod it upsets me when someone else's page is not as exciting or is interesting that they have to belittle someone because they're not getting paid . When my ship comes in I hope to acquire 427 twin turbo so in that respect Mr Nelson you keep doing what you doing partner because the rest of the world loves your work and soon as we get paid you get paid hahaha true fan for life Mike Chandler 73 Nova.!
Man's crew has the touch, 99% of builders would assemble this engine and it would blow up or take three months to tune or never smoothly hit 800hp,I Iive in gearhead hell, one rebuilder, who couldn't make a stroked 383 that doesn't stutter at 4500rpm if you held a gun to their heads
Wow... I so want it! I mean, god knows what trans is going to handle it and imagine the fabrication work just to get it to fit in my car.... but man that is an amazing piece of work.
@Jeffreyrno Based on my experience with forced induction engines, depending on how you drive it, and where you keep the boost levels set, if you keep it at moderate boost levels and aren't trying to run 7 second passes everyday with it, I think you could easily expect 100,000 miles out of one. Turbos don't put nearly as much force on the rotating assembly as an N/A engine making the same power numbers.
@eeeen321 As far as I know the new "mirror image" turbo prototype was built in house on a CNC machine out of billet, and for mass production the design will be built elsewhere and will be a cast piece. So they can and have built the housing, don't know about the internals. I've seen mostly Turbonetics chargers on their engines though.
@kovacs88 OH! Wow, that is very cool! thanks for the info! And if you get any more info regarding the wheels/bearings/etc they use/make, please let me know. :D
@wmk1975 To the best of my knowledge Tom Nelson started out with a bit of equipment in his garage doing stock engine rebuilds but started into performance cause the stock rebuilds weren't paying the bills. And he just kept growing from there. Very impressive considering how far he's come in such a short time. He doesn't look very old.
1357hp on pump gas is awesome. I want one. Billet aluminum though please! Actually, a light weight car like a Mosler with a light weight 5.7L would be good. 5.7 should be making over 1100hp on pump.
I love in every video he says "its got unbelievable power" or "it makes insane power" hahahhaahahaha, keep up the good work Tom, cant wait for the 4 cam!
@zooders yes tom does out source some of his parts but like his cams he probally calls his cam supplier tells them what specs he wants and they machine it and the same thing probally for whatever cranks he uses he may also use for instance dart blocks but he has to research and develop and test what work's. any top engine builder out sources parts it's cheaper to do that that to try and one off a part for each customer/engine thats the difference.
@pontta79 That package would probably run you in the neighborhood of $80,000. He has some cheap packages for under $20,000, mostly naturally aspirated big blocks, but still making around 800 hp.
@zooders just about anyone can assemble a engine but it takes someone with the knowledge and knowhow to build a high horse power engine with the right combination of parts and true craftsmanship to make a motor that will withstand the abuse. You can't just throw a bunch of quality parts in a motor and expect it to run awesome if it was that simple everyone would be top engine builders you have to know what parts and which ones and thats what puts tom nelson on top of the engine building game.
@bloodgulch1 yeah, i know how that works. i was just commenting on the title. you're not going to get any better conditions then on that dyno to make all of 1800hp, lets see it. not 1300. i should change my dyno videos and up the hp numbers since i know they could have been higher.
Wow! that motor is dam impressive! Look at the low end power tuneup....950ftlbs and 1100hp at 11psi? If that doesn't speak volumes to you compare it to the other "drives like a stocker" 1400hp pump gas motors on the market....Good luck with that! 1000ftlbs at 4000rpm??? This motor pulls like a porn star! As nice as the (obviously easy to attain) 1800hp number would be there is no street car chassis on the world that could deal with it. Even on pump gas all you will get is tire smoke.
@IDontHateOnCars then show an 1800hp run at 40psi. not a 1300hp on pump gas run. or maybe label the video as such. love NRE and the engines that come from there but i find the titles pretty comical. always so optimistic
@tupples1 damn since you know so much why are you not working for mr. nelson. I know why because you got a buddie that knows a buddie that ran that turbo and now you think it's the shit if it was that fantastic don't you think mr. nelson would be using them my point exactly tom is the shit and will always be the shit and he knows his shit.
Thanks Tom ! You did it again ! So many people have NO idea what they are looking at.....
just a couple yrs ago these numbers were un heard of well done sir i wish i could afford something like this
you can hear the passion in his voice
Gotta give it up to tom and to Chevy for the LSX. Quite possibly the greatest factory small-block ever concieved by a manufacturer.
Loved it ...been following you for a couple years, and can't wait for the next vid. Your skills and achievements Fukn amaze me. Keep it up!

Loving your work!! Especially your mirror image turbos and the alien
It gains 100 horsepower at every 2 lbs of boost added, crazy.
I’m in love with this motor.
Wow... I so want it! I mean, god knows what trans is going to handle it and imagine the fabrication work just to get it to fit in my car.... but man that is an amazing piece of work.
@eeeen321 NRE builds their own turbos now, they used to use a lot of Turbonetics and Garrett turbo chargers.
@Jeffreyrno Based on my experience with forced induction engines, depending on how you drive it, and where you keep the boost levels set, if you keep it at moderate boost levels and aren't trying to run 7 second passes everyday with it, I think you could easily expect 100,000 miles out of one. The modern one (M156) is 6.2, but called 6.3 due to their previous V8, which was 6.3L
awesome engine, nice work guys.
They drove the Mosler with another SBC 427 Twin turbo and with that setup they drove 18-20 MPG. :)
can't wait to see one in a car!
@eeeen321 As far as I know the new "mirror image" turbo prototype was built in house on a CNC machine out of billet, and for mass production the design will be built elsewhere and will be a cast piece. Probably blow it up, he builds every part of these motors.
something I've been meaning to ask too but I keep forgetting, Tom are you using a bottom-end girdle,, ever?
I would love to see NRE perform there magic on the ultra new stroker coyote motor. Not the 5.0 coyote but the ultra new 5.8 stroker coyote.
@kovacs88 OH! Wow, that is very cool! thanks for the info!
And if you get any more info regarding the wheels/bearings/etc they use/make, please let me know. :D
I'd like like to see you do a small block with splayed valves. Little chief heads.
@wmk1975 To the best of my knowledge Tom Nelson started out with a bit of equipment in his garage doing stock engine rebuilds but started into performance cause the stock rebuilds weren't paying the bills. Filling in for Kenny duttweiler ? Very nice engines, " clean " builds.
please tell me you have or in the works for a Dodge 6.1 Hemi like this.. would LOVE to see the power that one would make
that is one sweet looking inlet manifold!!
I love hearing those turbos flutter.
I'd like to see what NRE could do with a german V8 such as Audi's 4.2 or Merc's 6.2 Would be interesting...
Serious question, could this whole set up go in a 87 Monte Carlo SS??
I was getting excited to see a quad cam... lol still nice video :)
@kovacs88 They build turbos? Build from what? .... from scratch???
Or do they do get a turbo, and then do their own mods to that turbo?
@kovacs88 .... as long as the multiple forms of extra-heat is accounted for and manged?
1357hp on pump gas is awesome. I want one. Billet aluminum though please! Actually, a light weight car like a Mosler with a light weight 5.7L would be good. 5.7 should be making over 1100hp on pump.

this thing is SICKIE!!!
Who makes the turbos? Or what do those turbos start life as before you get them?
I see you're using wastspark coils
holley efi?
what size injectors?
how much power can you expect from an air to air intercooler
@zooders yes tom does out source some of his parts but like his cams he probally calls his cam supplier tells them what specs he wants and they machine it and the same thing probally for whatever cranks he uses he may also use for instance dart blocks but he has to research and develop and test what work's. any top engine builder out sources parts it's cheaper to do that that to try and one off a part for each customer/engine thats the difference.

Just Fantastic.

@jpocalypse They have pricing on their website, seem pretty reasonable
@AlmostInfamous1 A lenco or richmond will handle it and remember turbos ease the power in so driveline shock is reduced.
@chrismora85 why would you want to see it in a Veyron?
Between 3:50-3:54 something magical happens, watch the background then the header......
will it fit in My AWD Astrovan
Sucks the cabinet door open at 2:24
How many MPGs can u get outta this bad boy?
"FUCKING PUMP GAS!!" I love that lol
How much for this set up??? PLEASE REPLY
Only 48# of fuel pressure??
how much does one of those engines cost?
I want to see a Veyron with a Nelson engine.
Badass!
Hey Buudyy.. Mercedes has a 6.3, from ///AMG ...
at 6500rpm, whats the redline?!!!
Where the 1800 h p only put out 1400
Nelson is the best
FUCKING PUMP GAS! lol
Insane build brother!
cause he sayss it can be driven every day so why not?
How's the Lambo Coming along? @nelsonracingenigines
Wait, wait wait.....I couldn't have heard that right....did he say on pump gas?!?!?
Need a sales and marketing rep with a technical background???
@bloodgulch1 yeah, i know how that works. i was just commenting on the title. you're not going to get any better conditions then on that dyno to make all of 1800hp, lets see it. not 1300. i should change my dyno videos and up the hp numbers since i know they could have been higher.
HOW MUCH! I have a 64 Chevy PU Beggin' for it :]
That is a bad ass
@bloodgulch1 yeah, the titles are just misleading
Where's the 1800 horsepower engine? I only see the 1447 HP engine. If it can do it, why not show it?
@kovacs88 I've heard that also.. One of these days when I win the lotto......... One of these days!
do a duramax
sweet
Wow! that motor is dam impressive!

Ok I want 2 things a job and one of those engines for my Silverado SS lol
goin to play the lotto right now.
siiiiiiiiicccckkkkkeeeee
@Tupples1 You should get your own company and build it your way then...
Unless you machine a new block for these motors, you can't do much. Wall thicknesses are too small to get anywhere near LSX-type outputs.
@IDontHateOnCars then show an 1800hp run at 40psi. not a 1300hp on pump gas run. or maybe label the video as such. love NRE and the engines that come from there but i find the titles pretty comical. always so optimistic
1800hp? i saw 1300+ but no 1800.
Awesome video, say fuck, cuz it is a bad ass motor.
FUCKIN PUMP GAS!!! :D
i want it in my truck :)
I love your vids but please chill with the fbomb, Ive got younger kids in the house.
please.. please... just put this into my K5. i wont complain...haha.
I prefer Supecharged on V8.
Damm
WHEN. IS. THE. REVOLUTION. COMING.
I know dude, it was more of a joke.
@MultiDoughBoy1 Its not a story EVERYTHING I say is based on facts. Like I said before do your homework.
IL GIVE YOU SOME TRICK TAKE A 621 PC WHIT A F4 TURBO AND IT WILL DEVELOP 2700HP
13 hundred and fucking 50 HP on FUCKING PUMP GAS! Lmao!
@pontta79 an arm and a leg
when a engine makes that much power it's not rated in plain numbers it's made in fucking hp math .. LOL
I think I can get 1hp more out of that engine, can I get a job.?
one person owns a civic.
put that motor in a pulling truck.
drooolll
