Whenever GS shows that rear-aspect shot of the turbine nozzles opening up and the burners kicking in, I'm reminded of the scene in Fellowship Of The Ring where the Balrog roars at Gandalf on the bridge.
Thank you for all the F-4 Phantom action. I was at an air show at Forbes Field outside of Topeka Kansas in 1986. Four Kansas Air National Guard F-4Ds took off from a runway we couldn't see, and blasted overhead at very close to Mach 1. The thunderclap was unbelievable. I caught sight of the four aircraft just a split second before they roared overhead, and they were ahead of their own sound, so when I saw them, they were silent. Then came the thunderous BOOM. I have loved the F-4 ever since. It was so hot that day that I got lightheaded and opened my camera before I rewound the film (this was long before digital cameras). I lost photos of a lot of aircraft I never got to see again.

Dude the Intro of the video, as well as the First half with the bombing run. The fact that GS just joined a guy, did a run and split. I keep coming back to this video now. Holy smokes, This video is Fire! (This is primarily just talking about the first half too.. not even talking about the second half)
Wow, this looks incredible. I'm not really interested in flying the phantom myself, as I'm purely a Tomcat guy, but this is wild. When you looked out into the open ocean and saw all the flak and flares flying while you went through the clouds I couldn't help but say wow.
Im a 37 year old man my beautiful southern wife is 42 and we used to be gamers back in the day and holy shit look at the graphics these days you kids should feek lucky the immersion
Id like to see potentially a mirror dogfight, to take out the planes differences and really show some tricks to winning against the same plane. Might be a dogfight that you need to really think about more, than simply "how do i fight this type of jet."
So, I said yesterday that I'd like to see the Sparrows used more. Well, I looked into them a little more, and apparently the Sparrows, especially the early ones, had a hard time locking small targets. They were apparently meant more for hitting larger bombers when they first came out? Apparently the kill rate was only something like 10% for the earlier Sparrows in real world use as well, so I guess even if you did try to use them more, I shouldn't expect them to do much!
Man your content never disappoints. I've been subscribed to GS for a few years now and it's the Best. You get to learn the formula and watch this Guy splash bandits. ThankYou GS
The F-4 is a flying freight train with all the stuff you can load on it. On other planes you have to choose between this or that, on the F-4 you just load everything.
Recently read Phantom In the River, an excellent true story about an F4 strike that didn't go as planned in Vietnam. Triple A was a problem as they knew when and where we were coming.
In Vietnam the USAF repeatedly flew the same routes so the NVA had little trouble setting up very effective defense corridors. This was especially true with B52 strikes. Of course the USAF and Navy were also flying with VERY heavy operational restrictions. LBJ famously said “they can’t bomb an outhouse without my say so”.
That intro is a very interesting loadout for a Mig Hunter. Unless it was for parked Migs 🤣 4:!5 ahh, yes exactly what happened. Nice. So back in the 60s they experimented at the testing range on putting 15! gun pods under one of these. I want to see someone mod this to allow that and see what sort of A2G damage that would do.

Day 94 asking for F-22 vs 10 MiG 21
The F-4 Phantom. The world's largest supplier of MiG spare parts.
Yeah, I thought everyone forgot about that. Glad someone remembered.
It's “The World’s Leading Distributor of MiG Parts”. Because the parts get distributed.
Yeah, but they only deliver to people directly below the combat area!!!
@@Fryguy101 Yeah, that's what I thought too. 🙂
"slightly used" Mig parts
Whenever GS shows that rear-aspect shot of the turbine nozzles opening up and the burners kicking in, I'm reminded of the scene in Fellowship Of The Ring where the Balrog roars at Gandalf on the bridge.

"We have a friendly at 9 O'Clock"
"... Yeah, thank you Jester"
GS throwing shade on poor Jester trying to be helpful :(
I mean, he's the WSO, it's his job to keep track of what's in the airspace around them. Give him a break GS.
@@vicroc4 He's the JAFO.
That's because GS already knew.. He's a single seat guy and they're a very proud bunch.
Phone's ringin, Dude. THANK YOU JESTER
How many munitions would you like to carry?
Yes!
"Think you hung enough Snakeyes on that bird, Butch?"
I was a FAC in Vietnam, flying the O1 Birddog. Fairly common to have F4s show up with that many bombs, usually 15 max per plane. Loved that!
All of them

The F-4 has heard of parasite drag.....it just doesn't care.
Afterburner says, "What parasite drag?"
You put a big enough engine on it, you can get a brick to fly.

The F-4 Phantom was the first model I built when I was a kid. Love it

Your flying is so slick. Most pilots went the entire war without seeing a single mig. 3 in a row. General Olds would be proud
Ever since I was a kid in the 80s, the F-4E 2 has always been my favorite fighter jet. Incredible looking airplane.
It amazes me that an F-4 can carry more than twice the max normal bomb load of a B-17.
Just a tiny bit more thrust from the J79s than the old Wright Cyclones. 😉
@@benn454thrust is not horsepower
Love the F-4!! One of the coolest jets ever. I remember watching them take off in Okinawa quite a few years ago now.
when I was little, I once had a model set of 5 F-4s, with the details of the Thunderbirds.
Thanks!
It's hard to not get slightly aroused when the blowers kick on for takeoff, pun absolutely intended
Love this plane in DCS. Been a great first day
KF-21 doesn't exist anywhere in DCS.
@@frostgc Have no idea what you’re talking about but the F4 Phantom was just released today in DCS and that’s the plane I’m talking about

Heatblur should do all the vietnam era aircraft, F100, F105, A26, A6, A1, F8, A7, etc.
With all the bombs on that thing, I wouldn't be surprised if the pilots carried bombs in the cockpit.

Really enjoying the POV of missile. I'd welcome more !
Absolute beast. Lovin this thing more and more.
Of all the fighters I love the look of the F4 the best. So these F4 fights have been wonderful.
The join up reminded me, the Blue Angels flew the F-4 for a year or two?
Correct
1969-1974
The Thunderbirds did too IIRC
I, GS , like to see you flying the rafale or mirage on mission like this
Is it just me, or does anyone else love how the snakeyes look dropping from an f4e?😏
That SEA paint scheme was gorgeous on those Phantoms. I have an E model from that very base (JV) that I'll be making in few months.
That intro of the F-4 fully loaded. It's so beautiful

Time for “2 Morons” in an F-4 on a mission? In same or separate aircraft.
I can see the grease pen jokes now.

They say F15 a missile truck
But the real one is F4 phantom the amount of load it takes is mind-blowing
That Phantom is loaded up like a bus in Bangladesh
These opening scenes have been absolute fire lately!
I know it had flaws but I Love the Phantom, was lucky enough to see 2 German F-4's in North Bay, Ontario, early 90's
Great bomb run and 3 made debris. Outstanding!
Landings getting pretty smooth.

The Phantom in this colour scheme always reminds me of the opening animation for the old Fighter Bomber sim by Activision.
DCS _really_ needs a Vietnam map, so people stop blowing up Guam and Saipan.
Would love to see GS perform unrestricted climbs in different aircraft.

That loadout must have the glide ratio of a basketball gym.

Is he turning up the graphics resolution in the intros for the videos lately? Seems that way to me. I like it!

We need a night strike mission against ground targets so we can watch the sky dance with tracers and se you weave through them to the targets
