    Did you notice the high shock of the wsm into the water jugs? Even the the ballistic tip did what it was supposed to do and the shock pushed the last jug right off the table!

    Sir when it does not exit it usually mean tissue damage and its doing its job. My 270 Win deer stopper at time no pass through it punch and expand which means it tears up everything in its path and take down your game as fast as possible

      That is what I was thinking. having it exit is not uually desirable. y choice in the test would most certainly be the 17 WM, 2nd the 17 HMR.

    My .17WSM will go completely through the heading a hog sideways. I shot a sow hog of roughly 170 pounds and the .17WSM went straight through her head and made a pretty awesome display of brain matter on the grass next to where she lay. Needless to say the hog never even heard the shot. She dropped as of the earth was pulled out from under her legs.

      Have you had any experience with Rossi 22 mag rifle on market as I also hunt hogs but preferr 22 mag 50grain fly savage a22 I have not reliable light weight easy to carry but. I want that quick 2 or 3 shot at head my eyes don't focus quickly as they use to as I'm in my 60s now cz 512 22mag I think is the one I need but would like a lighter reliable 22m heard Rossi has one that's light weight but no one can tell me if it's good or bad in Oklahoma loving the wild hogs here all I hunt any more

      @@budledbetter7457 Hey Mr. Ledbetter, I'm 63 and shooting a 17 WSM and yes they are needle threaders. I only head shoot and shoot off a rest or bipods. If you practice your breathing you'll be just fine. Great caliber and very affordable. I do find a little reliability with the ammo, but the price is right, $17.50 for 50 rds

    • @blair79bear38
      @blair79bear38 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@texasyankee1013 Thats what I like. useful analysis. accuracy is king. power is second. Years back when the 22mag was pretty new I picked a 22 Mag but was talked out of it and went to the 222 rem . cost per round similar when you can reload the centerfire cartridge . known for its accuracy and much more powerful. never looked back. eventually I wound up with the 22-250 for its flat shooting and better wind resistance.

      @@budledbetter7457 I'm also looking at a new 22mag, had plenty of energy to crack a skull. Again as long as you place the shot it's a lights out caliber. Everyone just needs to keep in mind, it's a sniping round not s shooting on the run round. with the 17WSM, I have yet to find any 25gr ammo. I recently sent two boxes of Hornady back to the factory to be evaluated. Had a brass problem. Not sure if it's my gun or the brass. Looked to be over-pressured, had extraction problems with rim being pulled off from the case. Going to be interested to see what they say. The gun is a Volquartsen semi, not a cheap gun, sent photos of ammo to them as well.

    I'm not sure why they don't cave in and go to a 5mm, similar to the ole 5mm Mag... Then bump the shoulder out a little, bullet size up some and have a 20 caliber / 5mm in this mix that everyone can enjoy.

    If you watch the table during the first 3 shots, the table jerked the most with the 17wsm. That means the most energy was put into the plates while the 22 mag went through but retained its energy without producing as much shock

    • @theballisticsandtoysreview68
      @theballisticsandtoysreview68 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The reason the 22 magnum made a complete pass thru is because of its heavier weight advantage over the other 2 and in conjunction with its slower velocity during flight or while in an external ballistics phase is what allowed it to penetrate that deeply its 250+FPS slower those hyper velocity rounds just basically disintegrated, exploded,tore themselves apart because of the sheer force of impacting the plates at that speed 22 mag held together longer is all.and the 17sm only knocked the last jug off the table because of the jug exploding if I’m not mistaken the 22mag still out penetrated in the water jug test as well but at the end of the day you must still realize they are for varmint control and it’s their design

  • @jeffpsd8974

    Why do you have no scope on the 22 wmr?? I have one on both of mine and they can reach out and do damage at 200 yards if you counter the bullet drop, and still have knock down power

    • @jeffpsd8974
      @jeffpsd8974 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      they can knock down a coyote with good bullet placement at over 150, A 17,, not so sure, definitely not a 17 wmr? they may hit it but don t have the punch for a dog
