    The reasoning behind this approach ( commonly referred to as "Subs on Aux " is this .
    This allows you to only send channels with low frequency content that you want sent to the subwwoofers . (Like Kick Drum , Toms , Keyboards , Low Percussion , Sound effects , Premixed backing Tracks , and dont forget your 2 track music player . It also allows you to exclude channels you do not want sent to the subwoofers ( Like , Vocals , Accoustic instruments , Hi Hat , Overheads , etc . ) All in an effort to get a tighter mix and control low frequency feedback in the mains and monitors .

    One other thing, it's not a bad idea to also add a high pass on the subwoofers, generally something pretty low around 30 - 40 Hz depending on the type of subwoofer. Most subwoofers can't really reproduce frequencies below 30 Hz so it's wasted energy and can cause excursion issues too. A simple Butterworth filter is generally good like BU6 or BU12 and you still end up with a good punch since most of the punch is above 50 Hz

    I set my X32 up through 3 Matrix as was described in one of your videos a while back. Is there a difference or a reason I should change to this set up. Would also like to say thank you so much for all the work you have done putting these videos together, Made learning the X32 a breeze

    Thanks Drew! You're the MAN! I'm having an issue I wonder if you could help with... I just set up my subs to run on the M/C bus just like this video. It's great! However, at my church, we use the USB recorder to PLAYBACK the "pad" sounds during our worship set. The problem is they sound hollow because they're pulling from just the "LR" and not getting any subs from the M/C! Is there a way to fix this? If not, would you advise another option? THANK YOU and God bless!

    Hey Drew thank you so much for this video! Our church just purchased the X32 and I was wanting to integrate my sub...so big help! I understood the mixer set-up but I'm unsure of a couple of other things:
    1. My sub has a high cut built in so, if I use your settings, should I just set the sub high-cut the same or slightly higher?
    2. I'm still getting acquainted with the "routing" of the X32 but I'm wondering if there is a way to rout the mono signal to an "out" on my Behringer X16 stage box. This would enable me to just plug it in on the stage. I would greatly appreciate your thoughts. blessings...

    What would be kind of neat, would be to have the sub/mono go post main fader. But I guess I could set up a matrix for that. On my system I am using all 6 of my matrix for midbass, mid and high, and my mono/sub for such.. And the matrix all follow the main. Though it is kind of nice being able to have some channels not go through the subs like vocals and such.

    Hi Drew; In this video, it talks about setting the crossovers in the X-32/M-32 mixing board for the mains and the mono sub feed, I was wanting to do a separate mono sub feed like you have in this video but I had the person that installed the sound system for me do the crossovers settings in the amps, is this not the preferred method? Would it be better to undo that and do the crossover settings in the mixing board? Or is your suggestion to do this in addition to what has been done on the amps?

    Hey Drew how you doing LA ALEXANDER from sunset production when you set up your crossover are the separate your highs and lows what channel do you come out of by doing so i’m using 15&16. I am using the new QSC K 12 2.0 and I am using a Power amplifier to push my subs

    Hi Drew, I'm running an Xair 16 for my IEM's but now have to feed a main desk. All compression, gate etc will be done before hitting the main PA. What would you recommend is the best way to send the sub signal in the same way you used the x32 please?

    Drew or anybody: can you help with basic level calibration? I did the setup as explained in the video. Then I temporarily turned off the "M/C depends on Main L/R" button and zero'd out EQs. Then ran pink noise from the X32 through each L & R to match them to each other. Used an SPL meter set to C, Slow. Then I measured pink noise on L+R combined and made note of the value. Now to the subs: we have two connected mono. I did similar with them....matched individually, then combined them and tried to match the same level I had with L+R. Then when finished, I turned "M/C depends on Main L/R" back on. Does that sound like a somewhat proper way to do it? Thanks much.

    Drew, I'm new to the X32 Compact. Exactly where would you connect the subwoofer? I'm using an S16 stage box and have my mains going out of OUT 8. Do I connect sub to OUT 7?

    Hey Drew great video as per the usual. What would be your opinion on the pros and cons of running your sub this way as opposed to putting the sub on a bus send and mixing the sub in to each channel as needed via SOF etc...

    • @DrewBrashler
      @DrewBrashler 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thanks so much! It is just another way to route the subwoofer. One benefit is the ability to latch the output of the M/C with the 'M/C depends on Main LR' setting inside of Setup>Config. Once this is set, if you turn down the LR Master Fader, it will also turn down the level of the M/C. That way you can keep your subwoofer level consistent to the level of your mains.

    Hi Drew can use the Aux-fed subwoofer technique if I use 15&16 only to the sub speakers and also use the high pass filter from my subs to to the top speakers. Or do I have to use 14 specifically for the sub and 15&16 to the top please help thank you and God bless.

    I usually put at least the two bottom toms in the subs as well.
    When I tried Mono Follows Main LR, the Main LR's high pass filter was applied to the Mono bus. This happened on two different X32 Racks, one of which was V3 for certain . I went to an Aux instead.

    • @DrewBrashler
      @DrewBrashler 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Tim! I love adding the lower toms into the subs, really gets the room shaking! Are you updated to the latest firmware? I just tested the M/C depends on Main LR on my X32 full size and I didn't have the same result you quoted. Thanks!

    What's the main advantage of using this method than just having the sub come out through a bus sends?

    • @theycallmefilip
      @theycallmefilip 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Crossover filters.

    • @DrewBrashler
      @DrewBrashler 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question Michael De Leon! Using the Matrix, LR Bus, and/or M/C will give the options to use crossover filters like Butterworth or Linkwitz-Riley filters. This will give a bit more control over the audio going to the subwoofer. The mix busses don't allow for the use of crossover type filters.

    • @timpadrick9669
      @timpadrick9669 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If it works as described (maybe there was a bug in the ones I used), the advantage is that when you adjust the level of the LR, the level of the sub(s) changes the same about, keeping the system's frequency balance the same.

  • @justinjones6810
    @justinjones6810 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Couldn't you just send the subwoofer to the master bus and it would control the monitors and keep it at the same level as the subwoofer

    How did you route the M/C?

    • @DrewBrashler
      @DrewBrashler 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Great question! With the left and right speakers I like to have coming off of XLR Out 15 & 16, and then I will typically route the subwoofers (M/C) out from XLR Out 14. You can set the routing by pressing the 'routing' button, then tabbing over to 'out 1-16'.

      Drew Brashler when you use the setup aux fed, will the fader on say that kick channel, or bass, will it still be operational? or do you have to use just the mono on each channel to adjust volume... thanks
