A little tip I have (and maybe a good video idea?) is going to local grocery stores that specialize in a cuisine for affordble bulk sauces and spices! So for example, going to the local Chinese grocery store for soy sauce, going to the local Mexican grocery store for bulk chili powder, going to the local Indian store for bulk cumin, etc. They all also tend to have incredibly affordable bulk beans, rice, lentils, chickpeas, etc. I LOVE to stock up there!

I always shop the sales at multiple stores to get the best prices on the foods my family needs. Plus if something is on sale I’ll stock up and freeze things that can be frozen to make cheaper dinners in the future. It’s definitely a different way of doing things, but I think this is how I’ve saved so much money on food the last few years.

SO glad that you have pointed out that Whole foods and Sprouts can be cheaper. I have been finding this since the pandemic started. Also, they seem to actually have stock! I often find that the produce is both cheaper and better that some of the other stores.

Another place to think about is Tuesday morning, Big lots, Dollar general.
I would love to see you do a $50 menu plan for an ethnic grocery store like a Mexican grocery store or an Asian grocery store.

Thank you! I found we had a discount bread store not far from us. Went today and what would normally cost us $93 only cost me $41 today. 😮 Now we’re stocked up with bread, bagels, and more for over a month.

Worker at our discount bread store years ago told us to out a paper towel in the bag. Leave til it's all gone, also freeze some that was. Just leave it in bag. Thaw will absorb the moisture and keep from drying out or getting moldy in summer. It works

I used to routinely go to the day old bread store back when I had a freezer. It was on my way home from work. I think they had an additional 50% section for "older bread" so it's worthwhile to find out if the bread store has a discount day or section.

Pour over coffee is easy and tastes great. Where people mess up is wrong temperature water, not heating up cup first (with hot water), not enough grounds used. Try it and you will not want to go back to K cups.

Such a good idea! I stopped in to Natural Grocers last night for the first time because I happened to be in the same shopping center. I was shocked to see that their free range brown eggs were way less than the regular eggs at Aldi. I bought quite a bit of produce while I was there for similar prices to Walmart and some even less. I'll definitely be branching out a bit more on grocery stores now.

I have learned my target will 2 hours before closing put coupons on meat that need to sale. So after Sunday nite church I will stop by. They also will have at least 2 incap of marked down food and in every department's will be at least on encap of mark down for that area. In clothing at end of month they will have 2 or 3 70% or more off racks. Love shopping more than one store especially sales add. Great video

We all need food the helps us emotionally as much as just nutrition. My son with crohns disease gets McDonald's or dominos once a week if we can budget it to one fill his belly(he really eats that food) and two bring down his anxiety...we struggle with eating because of crohns disease(before diagnosis there was alot of 🤮). We have yet do get a AFRID diagnosis but that's the eating disorder he has. So baby steps...we have a g-tube, getting used to filling belly. Was so happy to see him eat a cheeseburger, 7 nuggets and drink 2 solo cups of flavored(grape) drink. More food the he as ever eating. Growing up with two little brothers its weird not having a boy that is not a garbage disposal😄... a skill we will be working on his more choices...so he likes cheeseburgers..adding meatloaf...and other choices to making eating at home easier....

I love your videos. Your coffee deal reminded me of mine this morning. In our area 45 years ago tomorrow a massive blizzard hit. Now every single time we have snow forecasted to the store they go, lol Wouldn't you know, snow has a slight chance of falling here tomorrow.. I actually just needed bread and had to wait in line for my turn (crazy busy). Right next to me was coffee, specifically Starbucks cold brew. It was the pumpkin spice flavor. My daughter and daughter-in-law both love it. It was marked down to $2.25. I normally runs $9.36! Needless to say both bottles they had left went in my cart.

We have a local grocery, only a few stores around our area. They are pretty pricy but do run good sales sometimes.. We exclusively buy our meat there, because they have awesome sales on meat. . Pork tenderloins go as low as 1.49q pound, we stocked up on pork ribs over the summer at $0.99 a pound, and we just stocked up on Chicken leg quarters, thighs, and legs for $0.99 a pound. And at the same time, we support our local market.

I live in Denver and I NEVER shop Walmart for food because their prices are outrageous. They might bring me in with a good loss leader but everything else can be found cheaper somewhere else. All my stores are within five miles of each other (Whole Foods, sprouts, natural grocers, Kroger, Costco and TJ Max and Trader Joe’s) so I will take a Sunday afternoon and shop my list.

Growing up, we had a large, upright freezer. My mom would stock up from various grocery stores during sales and we regularly shopped at the bread store. I have a small, upright freezer and I stock up as much as I can. I shop at both Costco & Sam's Club (I belong to Sam's, my next door neighbor belongs to Costco). They certainly aren't my regular grocery store because I'm a one-person household, but I buy quite a bit more than I would have thought I would buy there. Some of it are things I throw in the freezer and others are non-perishable items that I will grab multiples of when they go on sale. I primarily do my regular grocery shopping at Walmart. I'm disabled and no longer drive. I have to rely on delivery for my groceries. I cannot really afford to have multiple memberships to all the different grocery stores in town so I go with Walmart because they have the lowest overall prices. However I'm looking at changing to a different one going forward as I like their sale prices and the quality of their meat products. Their membership is quite a bit lower than Walmart's cost so I think I'm a switch over. It would be to my local Kroger affiliates store. Because I only grocery shop about every 3 weeks, I can do a fill-in order from Walmart. Since Walmart gives free shipping over $35, I can buy a lot of non-perishables that way and not have a delivery cost. Just trying to think through multiple scenarios as prices keep going up on everyday goods and and everybody seems to have a delivery service. If Instacart wasn't so expensive to use, I would look at joining that but their fees are so high that it does not make it cost-effective to shop through there in my limited experience. That's a real bummer because they shop at Aldi and I miss being able to shop there. Thanks so much for the great suggestions, Mindy! Thinking out of the box is what we all need to do in these days of inflationary times.

Hey Mindy! I am in Kansas and know Braum’s well! I wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your videos, but especially today resonated with me. It occurred to me when you mentioned the bakery outlet that I used to go to one all the time around my house, then they closed. Inspired by your video, I found a Flowers Bakery outlet here and I plan to go this weekend. I’ll also stop by Braum’s as the milk prices there are lower than my Walmart and I like the milk quality better! Thanks again!

I only stick between 2 stores - Stater Bros and Albertson's. They are both close. I don't shop/support WalMart and my Aldi's is horrible. I have a list of what typical prices are of items I buy monthly and know when things are on sale or not based on that running list. I shop items per store depending on sales. But if there is not a good sale that week, I just mainly shop Stater Bros as they are typically $45-50 cheaper than Albertsons. Gas here is under $5 now but it isnt worth my time or gas spent to go to multiple stores.

But I definitely make multiple stops when doing my grocery hauls. If its boxed or canned winco is typically cheaper. Produce is a Yokes trip because they have the best produce quality wise. Meat depends on prices. Pet supplies and household supplies are typically walmart. Snacks for my husband are usually a grocery outlet stop. So true. I wish we had a few more grocery outlets on my side of town.

Yes, I’ve been going to sprouts the last 2 months to buy eggs specifically. Other than Sam’s, they have the best prices for egg.

I do Braums for milk and ice cream for birthdays. It’s been on sale the last couple of weeks $2/6. Such a great deal on milk!!
I also love sprouts for produce and the rare amazing meat sale. I also use it for some vitamins or supplements.
Also you can check most sales online to find out if it’s worth the trip. To save on the gas money.

Yes, I almost bought the 2 gallons for that price, but I figured we couldn’t drink that much in a couple weeks! A good deal, though.

Love this! I just recently discovered your channel. I live in the same area and love to catch sales at Sprouts & wherever I can. I didn't know about the discount bakery store, so glad to hear about it. Thank you!

All great tips!! I recently went back to Whole Foods when I saw Jen did a haul and her channel and they do have some items that are cheaper than my grocery stores such as eggs and some produce items. I REALLY miss the Wonder bread outlet we used to have here in Philly!! It was my go to place for breads and snacks!!

Have you tried looking for grocery deals at Big Lots? It's just down Memorial from the other stores. With a membership card, I had a $10 of $40 a few weeks ago. Add the cash rebate from my credit card, I was able to get $40 for $27.
Also, agree, check out the new Pan Asian market by the Bed, Bath and Beyond. The produce is of good value and some items you cannot find at other stores.

I love Sprouts! Also, it's the only place I can find aluminum free baking powder.

I have bought eggs cheaper at Sprouts lately. I generally buy my coffee (only place that sells my fav) and produce there. I meal plan by getting whatever produce is on sale there. They always have a sale on something. I also will check meat because they run good deals sometimes. I bought thick cut bacon $3.99 a lb from the butcher counter. In SoCal that is an amazing price.

Dozen eggs right now in my area of CT are 4.99 - only place that was less was Trader Joe's - for awhile they were 3.99/doz - so now I just stock up and make sure I always have 2 doz on hand - our 18 counts are up to $6.25!!

Good job again with some solid ideas and input.
I will say I loved having an Sprouts store when I lived in Western Colorado. They did a great job with what you could consider their strengths. Great deals. Most of the time, there produce was well stocked and in good fresh condition. If you have ever ran a produce dept. as I have, you understand there can always be exceptions and being so far from the fields in the winter you had to be tolerant with less than perfect. However, the meats were great. Sometimes pricey but you need to make sure what the comparison was with. Premium, grass fed, several types of chicken., I was getting to eat much more fresh veggies and fruits. My closest store here in north central Ks is 80 miles away. I do have Brahms close my! 😧😧😧 . 😉 they are a great chain as well. Really good burgers and salads too. ALWAYS good ice cream. 😋😋😋
Great job young lady. God bless all here.

You are such a smart mom and inspiration! I wish that more people would think about shopping at multiple stores. Unfortunately the only discount store around is Aldi and I’ve shyed away since the horse meat fiasco.
