Morgane Stapleton is not just his backing vocalist but his soulmate and she’s largely responsible for convincing him to step forward as a performer. Prior to his staggering success, he was behind the scenes writing hit songs for other country artists. She also writes songs along with her beautiful voice. She and Chris together are a force of nature and have their own genre😂🌺✌️
This background story is always twisted for some reason.... it’s actually Morgane who suffered from stage fright. Chris sang with his group The Steeldrivers for years, then went solo and encouraged Morgane to go on stage with him. She worked as a songwriter in Nashville and had a record deal as well, but it didn’t go very far. In her own words, she “had an aversion to the spotlight.”

No matter how many times I see this I am continually amazed at the energy on that stage. This is what happens when great singers and great musicians get together. A legendary live performance. Someone else mentioned another collab that they did. The video for Say Something was shot live in one take. Another terrific song you will love.

You know it's gonna be a great performance when you have countries biggest names on their feet the whole time and Keith Urban taking video with his phone? Yeah, they knew something special was happening. One of the best live performances I've seen so far and it's just the video! Imagine what it felt like being in the audience.
The lady singing with them is Chris's wife Morgan. She's a songwriter in her own right, written songs for Carrie Underwood and Lee Ann Rimes among others. She and Chris make a great team.

Try Tennessee Whiskey live at Austin City Limits, where it's just Chris and his wife, Morgane. You'll get a totally different vibe. Always listen to live versions of Chris, except, "Fire Away," which you need the video for to get full impact, as it highlights mental illness. Keep going down the rabbit hole. "I Was Wrong," live at Austin City Limits (there's a great guitar solo at the end you won't get on the studio version), "Death Row," "Cold," "Arkansas," "Watch You Burn."
The Fire Away video is SO sad. It's tough to watch for me.

What I really love about this performance, aside from three incredible voices, is the brass. It adds another great dimension, and really brings out the blues and a bit of a jazz element.

The show Justin appeared on as a kid was called Star Search. He was still using his given name, Justin Randall. He and Chris recorded a song together called Say Something that’s very good.
JT is from Memphis Tn so country and blues comes natural to him. I can't get enough of Chris's music.

I remember watching this performance live for the very first time and I know my jaw hit the floor. I could not get over it and I had taped it and watched it over and over, every time just loving every minute of it because it was all in the moment and a lot of it I'm sure was ad-libbed
And the crowd goes wild and yes Justin had to take it a few notchs to sing with Chris but all the artist and record exec's in the crowd knew they were watching history in the making

I don't know if anyone has told you this, but I read somewhere that for a long time Chris Stapleton used to just write songs for other artists he never sang. I don't know if that's true or not but that's what read.
As I understand it Stapleton has severe stage fright, his wife there is not just his back up singer, but his back up strength to go on stage as well.
