- Coding and adaptation changes in VW #MIB2 Discover Media system after USB port replacement to have both CarPlay functionality as well as #USB source option in MEDIA player.
ℹ️ The same procedure will work for other MIB2 devices installed in Audi, Seat, Skoda, and Volkswagen cars. Your infotainment system needs to support #CarPlay feature, have proper license key installed, and have correct USB port (connector 5Q0 035 726 E inside assembly 5G0 035 222 E) for the feature to work.

Mr. FIX i have a question that hopefully you can help me with. I bought a mmi decoder box for the 2016 mk7 golf s, to get wireless android auto. I installed it using the plug and play cabling and got the Bluetooth to sync with my phone but the wireless portion doesn't work. Would you know 9f I need to code something through either the 5f module or the green setup screen. I have a video showing the error I received on my channel. Any information you can shed a light on would be greatly appreciated.

I have discover pro unit, android auto works fine with both of the usb plugin. In the media source I see the USB inputs, but when i plugin a pendrive, it always say usb error or something like that. I tried with 16Gb and 64Gb pendrive also, formatted to ntfs, fat32 and exfat also. Neither of them works. What can be the problem? So in short i cannot use pendrive as a media source. Thanks a lot.

Hi, and thank you for this video, I wanted to ask for your help if possible. A few months ago, I retrofitted from a Composition Color to an MIB2 Std ZR. I used the MIBToolbox to unlock it, but CarPlay and Android Auto are not functioning. Even after following all the procedures, it shows a USB error. CarPlay and Android Auto used to work with the old radio. I used VCDS to modify the parameters. Thank you for your assistance.
After open car door the USB port is energized for only for 30S befor turn on the car, how can I put more time? Thanks a lot

Hi, the head unit Discover Pro on my golf mk7 damaged I ordered a used one on eBay, my question is will this OBD can code or reset the unit in order to work on my car?
You can use OBDeleven to copy/paste coding and adaptations from the old unit to the new one. Buy you still need dealer-level tools to remove component protection and to upload valid FEC/SWaP codes to enable all protected features.
Hi. I'm wondering if you can help me. My passat b8 ( 2015) has two usb ports, one underneath the display ( usb 1) in similar position as in this video. The second one (usb 2) is in the compartment that is located between two seats. Andorid auto works on both USB ports, but Carplay works only on usb 1. Do you maybe know why this is and is there a way to make carplay work on usb 2. Thanks.
I have the same issue on the passat B8 2015, carplay only works on the one in the center console and not under the arm rest. Would appreciate your advice. Do you think changing the settings in obd11 for that port make any difference? Thank you

Is there any way to make mib2 show the artwork (album cover photo) when streaming on bluethooth? I see that playing from sd card/usb shows the artwork.

The limitation is in the phone, as far as I know. Some android phones will stream cover art via BT. iPhones are not doing that.

Cześć, czemu trzeba wymienić USB port? Mam MIB2 discover media w golfie vii z 2015 r. i zastanawiałem się czy samym obd11 z Twojego linka dam radę odblokować app connect.
CarPlay wymaga innego porty USB. Dokładnie nie wiadomo dlaczego (możliwe, że jest tam dodatkowe zabezpieczenie sprzętowe).
Samym OBDeleven nie aktywujesz AppConnect, bo ta funkcja jest chroniona kluczem licencyjnym. Albo kupić w ASO albo znaleźć kogoś kto nielegalnie zmodyfikuje jednostkę.
I have 14 golf and when I try to safely remove sd card 1 it doesn’t give me the option it skips straight over it how do I fix that

Yes. You need VW USB HUB + two standard ports + wiring + coding.
The HUB + standard ports are actually cheaper than single CarPlay-enabled port - if we are talking about 2nd hand parts.
@@mrfixpl hi Mr-Fix just fitted the hub. i have andriod auto working and carplay but when put usb drive in it (says reading usb2) usb 2 is bold but when i activate it nothing happens..have tried the usb on a pc and the music is there

Carbon jest tak oklepany, że aż szkoda czasu o nim mówić. Szczególnie gdy jest tyle fajnych folii strukturalnych.
Hi I wonder if you can help me.i have just bought mk7 golf r it did not have sat nav in it so .owner got one and had it fitted but no sound comes out of radio or any music from sd card or juke box its mib1 system.can you help.
Maybe it's configured for external amplifier which your car does not have?
First of all I would scan for faults with VCDS or OBDeleven or any other diagnostic tool to check what codes are there.

Hi my car the usb option greyed out even when i plug in my cable it’s not detected
How can I check if the current USB port supports Apple (iPhone) connection? I have CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink activated, and a working USB port. Android Auto works via USB but for CarPlay iPhones do not get recognised. I was getting the "USB device not supported" error when connecting, then I tried the Byte 19 USB iPod + Adaptation fix - now the error does not appear anymore but the iPhone still doesn't get recognised.

I have a Tiguan 5N 2016, android auto is working. But not carplay !
I have done all the software changes via Obdeleven : usb_ipod, and activate first line in interface for external media.
But CarPlay still not working. I called my vw dealer and they said all the tiguan delivered in 2016 had the good usb port !!! I dont know how to check my usb port and any other solution...

Use any available on-line VIN parts catalogue (or get familiar with ELSA): enter your VIN there, check the part number of factory installed USB port and compare it with the one that support CarPlay (5G0 035 222 E).
I’ve a VW Beetle from 2015. VW started put MIB2 on Beetle from 2015. I’ve bought MIB2 with CarPlay licence and needed USB but I can’t use CarPlay. VW tech said that it’s car is not capable for CarPlay. Is OBDeleven can solve this? If it’s how to do?
CarPlay and few other features are protected with FEC/SWaP codes which are generated for VIN and VCRN. If you install the unit in different car, those codes will not be valid anymore as the VIN is different.
@@mrfixpl Is there any possibility to solve this? VW technician that he can’t generate any activation code if car not App Connect capable.
@@Goujova If you car in not ready for CarPlay (you don't have the AppConnect icon in the menu) there's not much that you can do other than replacing the main unit.
the carplay in my unit it, the screen goes black when plugged in but somehow you can still play spotify, have u had a case like this one before?
Try to reboot your phone first.

Czy jest jakaś opcja, by szybciej przejść do CarPlay? Brakuje mi przycisku APP. Do tego czy przycisk telefon może przenosić do CarPlay?
Soft poliftowy ma inne menu i tam przycisk AppConnect jest łatwiej dostępny.
Jak wejdziesz w PHONE to w rogu też będzie przycisk CarPlay.

Hi Mr Fix. My car uses the old MDI cable and I did all of the steps after retrofitting a 2018 MIB2 radio.

Hm kind of interesting, my 2015 Leon with mib2 had all of these already (except byte 19) after I retrofitted the CarPlay usb port.
i have the same issue, does your carplay not wanna connect with USB? as mine always pops up with failed to connect.
