    About the driver's license in Canada, can I get a full class 5 license if I have a DL from another country, or do I need to go through the whole process of getting a class 7 then 5I then 5II then 5?

    Hello my name is wissam ,i am from algeria and am planning to move to canada next month , i just had my driving licence and i wanna know if i am still able to ask for exemption from G1 test even if i just had my driving licence in algeria

    • @GoingPlaceswithAbuMicah
      @GoingPlaceswithAbuMicah  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Wissam. Congratulations on your licence. You have to take the theory test and get a G1 licence, then you can do some practical lessons. If your Algerian licence is new (less than 1 year old), you will need to wait 1 year before you can do a G2 road test. So as soon as you land in Canada, get your G1 licence and then you can do driving classes and then after 1 year you can go for a G2 road test.

      Hi Charles! You won't be exempted from the test but you will be exempted from the learner driver program, so you need to pass the knowledge test and then surrender your 3 licenses and then book a road test

    Can I swap International Licence for The Quebec licence or is it just National only

    • @GoingPlaceswithAbuMicah
      @GoingPlaceswithAbuMicah  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You do not need an "international licence" in Canada unless if your licence is in a language that is not English or French. If your licence is already in English or French, you can exchange it for a Canadian licence if the country that issued your licence has a licence exchange agreement with that Canadian province. If not, you would need to do a knowledge test and a road test before you can get a Quebec licence.

    • @GoingPlaceswithAbuMicah

      Tonye Ben-Jack When you book the road test you have to select an available date and time so you only need to wait until the date you would have chosen. If there are no dates available then you cannot book a road test in Alberta.

    What if your home country license in expired for 3 months before landing in ontario... But it was valid for almost 10 years

    • @GoingPlaceswithAbuMicah
      @GoingPlaceswithAbuMicah  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be on the safe side, I would recommend renewing your license before landing in Canada, so that you have a valid one. However, check with Service Ontario whether they can accept an expired foreign license for conversion purposes.

    • @GoingPlaceswithAbuMicah
      @GoingPlaceswithAbuMicah  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey. If your drivers' licence is in English or French you can use it in Alberta province for 1 year (may be similar or different depending on the province). Get an International Driving Permit in Ethiopia before coming to Canada, then visit a Registry Agent / Office when you land in Canada and they will advise you on how you can get a local licence.
