    Thanks Alan - just to say, I did my own timing belt with the advice on your videos. Really appreciate the accuracy and simplicity. All fine and done.

    The crank pin is the same as a cam pin from a vag CAYC engine fits in perfectly. What would say to make life easier is to cut the anti tamer bolts out of the ECU cover and unplug the top cable. I've done so many if these belts now I'm down to 30 mins per belt. Got the flywheel change to 2 hours out and in because I have 2/4 crack bar for the back sub frame bolts. Edit have you had a blocked oil cooler yet the oil gets that hot it melts the sump we had 2 in one month

    Did the belt on our mark 5 but the hole in the LUK DMF that I fitted recently had the hole in the wrong place and it didn't line up with the hole in the block so had to put a paint mark on the flywheel and the job lacked precision luckily it went back together ok. I don't like crossing my fingers on start up after doing a belt.
    The DMF must be the wrong one and I got it from ford parts plus.
    I even took off the starter to see more and there is a hole in the flywheel but it's further out from the hole in the block. Bugger!!

    Hi Alan. Greeetings from Norway. Love your vids.. I have a 2.0 TDCI 2011 With that Powershift shit of an gearbox. Is there a hole in the "flywheel" on these engines as well. I have tried to look, but no luck.. i have a strange whine in my engine, that suddenly appeared. Not idlerpulley. It sort of sounds like it comes from inside the oilpan on syl nr1. Ish.. im thinking oilpump or chain!! Have you experienced this in any of the cars..

    Hi Alan
    Not sure of the relevence to using the flywheel pin and the problem of the cambelt teeth stripping you had as the way you timed it by marking the flywheel was fine and acurate. Sure it is always best to use the correct tool but the belts you fitted without it where perfectly timed up when you rechecked after turning over the engine a couple of turns ?

    • @alan4x
      @alan4x  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi, the teeth stripping on one of the cam belts is nothing to do with timing the engine up but i now needed to find the correct timing hole and pin the crank in the correct position as there were no paint reference marks on the flywheel

    Hi Alan, can I know the dimension of the "L" Shape of crank shaft locking pin?
    Difficult to find the part, probably I can make it by myself.
    Thanks

      Long side is 160mm, short side is 70mm. 8MM Diameter. The crankshaft centraliser pin (stop the pulley from floating) is a bent piece of 1.5mm diameter rod.

    Alan have you any idea what a wind or road noise problem could be coming from the rear passenger side on a 2014 estate mondeo.
    I have had bearings , new pad and disc but it's still there.
    Notice it about 30mph upwards .

    • @alan4x
      @alan4x  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can get tyre noise on those cars that sound like wheel bearings..might be worth swapping front to rear

    • @Ad-gn8pl
      @Ad-gn8pl 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@alan4x had something similar on my 11plate estate. Tyres had worn through weight in the back so were no longer as round as they should be. The vibration had then affected the bearing. I'd only had it a few months so warranty fixed the bearing and I invested in tyres with the correct load index which the last bloke had replaced on the cheap 🙄. The Estates are amazing, great for a trip to IKEA or the tip!

      Snapped cords In your tyre rub your hands over the tread see if any are sticking higher than the others. Check no cords are showing before rubbing hands over as them things hurt

    • @alan4x
      @alan4x  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      i have never seen an auto yet but the engine block will be the same so the timing hole will be in the same place and i would assume there is a locating hole in the torque converter ring gear assembly
