Fun fact- @8:59 "Eau-de-cologning" was a specific reference to a 1963 concert in Blackpool by the Beatles, infamous for the number of teenaged girls in the audience who, so rapt in sexual exhilaration, urinated themselves." The cleaning crew spritzed cologne to cover up the smell of urine.

Quadrophenia got me through my teenage years. I've been to Brighton, England twice (1987, 1989) - once in summer, once in bleak November. Train in from London, and one from Dover. Neither was scheduled at 5:15pm. Some some of the sites, used in the movie -and the Grand Hotel, without any help from a Bell Boy. I'm from Ohio, yet when I've visited the U.K., or other nations, I do a pilgrimage if I know a location.

L33, glad your back on "Quadrophenia". In many ways, this is the ultimate Who Album. Improvements in recording technology made the 1971 "Who's Next" their first Album to properly capture Daltrey's booming voice. And with 1973's technology, "Quadrophenia" was even better. Not only exhibiting Daltrey's full vocal range and power, but also fully capturing Moon's explosive Drums, and Entwistle's massive Bass. Of ALL the Who Albums, "Quadrophenia" did the best at recording their "LIVE" energy, (along with their great "Live At Leeds" Album.)

5:15, such a massive song! The genius of Pete Townshend to have written something so huge and complex! Also, brass courtesy of John Entwistle, who played french horn in my old school orchestra!

Because of my name, Tommy was my intro to The Who. Pete rarely repeats himself. Quadrophenia is amazing, Lee after finishing the album reactions should sit down with headphones, or better yet a solo car ride, and spend 80 minutes listening to the whole album straight thru.
There was s also a live performance Live In London from 2014 that is really great.

The movie Quadraphenia is a facinating look at livestyle and culture of the youth in England in the 60s when THE WHO and other early British Invasion bands (creators of most of the best music in history in my honest opinion) were starting out. Fiction story of a troubled youth in a real and historic time and setting in history set to some of the best music from THE WHO and other incredible bands of the time. It ties the albums songs together in the story that you astutly noticed. I tried to join patrion to become a sponcer...but, apparently even my bank, let alone my credit cards do not have my current phone number for the verification process 😳 I would be happy to send you copies of some of my favorite Who media including books and movies for your personal enjoyment, as you are a young father and life is hard. Watching you discover and truely enjoy something that has brought me immeasurable joy for decades is bringing me more joy...if you have a PO box, I would love to send you Quadriphenia and The Kids are Alright movies and a dvd player if you need one 😂😂😂 maybe a live concert dvd and Full Moon...an insane book about the life of Keith full of very personal insight and rock and roll legandary stories of his pranks, substance abuses issues, wild parties with his famous friends...and some not so famous friends and interactions with some lucky and some unfortunate people...all written by the man referred to as his personal assistant...essentually his personal party buddy and nanny meant to help keep his antics from going over the top...which he readily admits to failling miserably at. He stopped working for Keith not too long before we lost him...some wrongly set some blame on him...he simply could no longer endur the effects if the lifestyle entailed with that job. It is obvious that he loved Keith like a brother, despite some of the more unacceptable behaviors Keith exhibbitted while adjusting to fame and dealing with unaddressed medical (psych) and substance abuse issues at a young age. (His marrage and family, mostly.) Wild, hiillarious, shocking and sad...rolled into my favorite book of all times...I litterally could not put it down and read it in a day and many more times since then. I need your PO box to happily send these gifts while I update my financial info so I can become a patron I just want to say thank you for the joy from your videos, to my fellow Who fan. I would never want your home address posted in this time...way too many psychos out there and you have a lovely family to protect....so, hoping you have a PO box. Any gifts would come....most likely via an Amazon shipment...not from me personally 😊😊😊

Quadrophenia is such a great, great album. For a double LP to not just keep your interest, but to keep you totally enthralled throughout is incredible. Lee, just for yourself, after you've done the reaction to every song in it, go back and listen to the entire thing in one hit. It will leave you both exhilarated and completely exhausted.
And you will know at the end of it, that the greatest band of all time is - of course - The Who.

The difference between the studio track and any post-1979 live version of this tune is Moon. He lays down a chugging rhythm that no one else bothers to replicate, for some reason, and it makes a world of difference.
As for Entwistle, he NEVER used a pick. He would sometimes use his fingernails to perhaps replicate a pick, but he never used a pick.

Quadrophenia is my favorite album of the Who. A masterpiece of Pete from A to Z. John had also written for this album but the compositions did not appear on the final project. Each Who album is totally different from each other. There is a live version of the 2000 RAH with an extra ordinary bass solo of about 5 minutes. Well, it's Zak Starkey on drums, it's not Keith but Zak still ensures an exceptional playing. Moreover, the whole concert is a real success with guests like Eddie Vedder, Brian Adams, Kelly Jones, Paul Weller, Noël Gallagher, Nigel Kennedy. Thank you for this analysis. Well done.

Yeah, I prefer the soundtrack version of I've Had Enough. The strings really add a lot to the emotions conveyed in the lyrics, and the bass has a more prominent sound. And the banjo is kept nice and prominent too. As I recall John Entwistle remixed the song for the soundtrack.

'Oo Wednesday! The story as I remember hearing it is that Pete learned to play the banjo before he played the guitar. As kids, he and his buddy John would perform in pubs for tips, playing traditional, or "trad", jazz. John would be playing trombone while Pete played banjo. Pete remarked that he couldn't believe how much money they'd earn doing that. I think the banjo here was really cool.

You kinda just learn as you go. I’m basically gambling every day with this channel. It might go up or it might not. And then if it does go up, I might or might not actually make any revenue from it. It’s definitely very frustrating. But the community makes it bearable.

If it wasn’t for the community I couldn’t do this every day. 100000000000%

Funny you should mention it, the album is a movie in your head. I am an artists and the album inspired my pencil drawing for , The Rock the actual movie had some very good moments. but the movie in my head was better.
