Um, I might be the only person who thinks this, but spinoffs are not a very good reason for a villain not to be, you know, a villain. I mean Bowser does the same thing in spinoffs as king boo, and those houses might not even be his... but hey, it's a video game, so anything is possible.

Just cause Eggman speed skates with sonic doesn't rule out the fact he tried to blow up the planet, and that just because bowser sleds with Mario doesn't mean it rules out that bowser has tried numerous times to destroy Mario with his koopa army and kidnap peach. Just cause king boo is good at baseball doesn't make him a good guy.
Maria Gamergirl3477 to be honest bower's hardly a bad guy, he fights fair and square and basically just want to marry peach so she the mother of his kids. Plus he gets invited to kart racing and he barely done anything that considered extremely evil. Bowser can't defeat Mario, but king boo can also boo barely done anything bloody evil other than stopping mario from home invasion. He good friends with bowser and he probably the only other ruler in his kingdom. Like how peach rules the mushroom kingdom, how daisy rules that other place and have trade deals and shit. Bowser likely has trade deals with armed forces with boo. Bowser is probably the reason boo gets invited to go karting. Also the fact they all have racd tracks on there land. Like daisy owns all them desert kingdom stuff, some of it owned by DK, mario Co share there tracks and bowser chips in to spice things up, along with king boo. It makes lol 😂 even thought there no story line. I can honestly see them all chipping in to play go karting, it's not like any of them haven't teamed up before.

I always like to think that Bowser stole some of the Boos for himself and will only give them back to King Boo if he degrades himself to join Bowser in his unsuccessful attempts to kidnap Peach.
When you lose to a For Glory Olimar you know, I'd have to agree with you on that. I believe there are two king boos, and I think that one of them is truly evil, while the other is a good guy forced to be on the villain side. Bowser forcing king boo to be a good guy isn't a bad idea... also I love your name lol!

I know that mario invades the ghost houses, but I continue believe that King Boo is a villain. You see, in the credits of LM3 there is a picture of him and Hellen Gravely, and shows that King Boo is sad because his plans had failed which means he was conscious of what he was doing,and he hadn't the gem that supposedly it was controlling him. Another thing, his appearence didnt change after the gem had gone.
Filipe Pereira or.. you know.. he was sad because his *evil* acts were foiled, and hellen failed him. And he failed, not sure how that makes anything justified.

Mario was technically trespassing at the mansion in Luigi's Mansion.
But in Luigi's mansion 3 they were invited and in Luigi's mansion 1 mario and Luigi were lured there by king Boo

10. The King Boo seen in Mario Sunshine is obviously not the real King Boo, as not only does he look far different, but his proportions and design closely resemble the paint monsters that are scattered throughout the game, he also explodes into said paint when he dies, which is the smoking gun.

This is one of 2 King Boos we see throughout the series and I have a personal theory where King Boo is like Santa, though maybe he's a bit lazy so he just gets one of his boo friends, upsizes him, and gives him a generic crown to go out and masquerade as him when the real King Boo is busy or just doesn't want to come.

I mean, I love the vid and all, but most of your points are wrong, like, do you realize that the "Wario Greats" are a team of BAD GUYS, and also that king boo trapped mario in luigi's mansion and lured luigi to come so he could kidnap him too? nico, you have to admit, he IS a bad guy. Also, you have no proof that king boo uses the lava area as a safe, i mean, if i were trying to protect my coins, i wouldn't leave them scattered all over the place.
No offense, but number 1 is completely wrong. The portrait ghosts were never king boos friends. The reason king boo made the mansion in the first place was not to give a home to the ghosts, but only to trick Luigi into coming. His plan was to trap Luigi and Mario into paintings because of the happenings in super Mario 64, where Mario would crush the boos. He, loving his boos, made a plan to lure the Mario bros and trap them in paintings, since Mario would always jump into the paintings. King boo initially planned to rescue Boolosous (however u spell his name) and in the process also rescued the other portrait ghosts to aid in his plan. These ghost are really just paintings and like Madame Clairvoia (or however u spell it lol) don't belong out here in the mansion.
Also, these ghosts are NOT innocent little ghosts. We've seen time and time again that Luigi is a sweet, scared, caring brother and we see that king boo is trying to hurt him. Does that seem nice? I don't think so. Luigi is trying to rescue his brother from the evil clutches of King Boo, and you can see at the end of the game that he cries when Mario is saved. If you see this sweet Plummer as the antagonist, then....well I don't know what to say.
One more thing, this isn't proven anywhere, but I believe that the king boo in luigis mansion and the king boo in the Olympics and other fun little games are actually two different king boos. Just to state the obvious, they are boos but they look completely different. Their crowns are different and obviously their eyes are totally different. Also, the Luigi mansion king boo had special powers we can see in the second game, teaching his fellow boos to create spirit orbs and make things disappear. Further, as I have stated king boo from the mansion is evil, while I agree with you that the other king boo is nice and fun and is actually a pretty cool guy. These two cannot be the same guy. But again, this is just my theory.

#4: Ok I agree it's nice of King Boo to make a bunch of houses to keep his people/followers safe, shows he cares more about his troops than Bowser for sure, but Ghost Houses are specifically designed to kill the Mario Bros at any chance they get. I think king boo in Luigi's Mansion and the other king boo are very different characters. My main evidence for this is that in Luigis mansion, King Boo is often... stuck. He's trapped in a painting, trapped in a storage container, and then again trapped in a storage container. I don't know much about the timeline of games in the mario universe, but it doesn't seem like he'd have much time for being in a lot of the other games. I also like to note that in Luigis mansion, King Boo always has a giant gem of some kind in his crown, while in everywhere else, the other King Boo just has a normal crown. It would also make sense that the other king boo exists because the one in Luigis mansion is usually captured, causing a need for leadership. And if King Boo in Luigis mansion got out, got a normal crown, and participated in all that stuff, wouldn't you think that Mario and Luigi would be very surprised to see him? And wouldn't the huge reveal that King Boo does to Luigi in Luigis mansion 2 and 3 be useless because Luigi would know he's out and about? And another thing, it seems like the moment King Boo escapes, he enacts something to try and trap or kill Luigi, which would not correspond to the personality in the other games. That's what I got for that theory.

I see where your coming from but I honestly can't see him as a villain. What I mean is that when the ghosts had taken Mario, E.Gadd offered to help Luigi in saving his brother, even though E.Gadd had not much to gain from that. The only thing he would gain would be to regain his lost portraits. Then in the second game, he was ambushed by the greenies, who were breaking and throwing things at him while he was trying to work on an invention. Throughout the game, E.Gadd does tease Luigi a bit, but not in a mean way. I mean, my dad does it to me all the time! And he shows he cares about the brother right before Luigi goes to get the final dark moon piece, saying he was very proud of him and sniffling. I think E.Gadd is actually very sweet with a side to him that likes to tease. Sorry, I just realized that I was probably rambling lol!

I like to believe that the vanilla king boo (the one that’s literally just a boo with a crown) and the more detailed king boo (Luigi’s mansion) are two different characters, and the one from sunshine is a completely different entity created by Bowser Jr’s paint brush, but you can believe what you want to believe.

My theory is that King Boo is being under control over that gem on his crown, His sometimes evil on his own but is a good guy more (Makes sense since his a ghost) But when he first saw the gem, he thought it would be pretty on his crown, but once he put it on his crown, he got mind controlled and that the gem is a controlling device that turns people evil, he turns into a psychopath and just wants to destroy the world, and maybe someone could be behind the gem? Or it's just a live mind controlled device, also in spin-offs he doesn't have that gem on his crown, and he doesn't seem to be evil and isn't trying to destroy the world.
For LM: DM, he only wants to take revenge on TRUE antagonist

honestly i think exactly the same thing. It's true that he presents certain signs of cruelty at times, but we can not deny the fact that he would be ready to do anything to protect his subjects! I don't see him as a bad guy at all ... as you said, he just wanted to free his freinds ! for all this reasons, he's and will remain my favorite character !

I don’t know why people hate him- he’s so cool and adorable-
Is it possible that King Boo could have also used his high Intelligence to help Luigi obtain more confidence in himself, and actually worked together with Professor Egad and Mario to give Luigi his chance at the spotlight? King Boo in Sunshine noticed how Mario had all the spotlight, so he found Professor Egad who he had figured made Flodd as he noticed the emblem on it. He made a deal with Egad and later decided to trick Luigi and Mario into coming into the Mansion. He wanted to hopefully have Mario arrive first. After Mario arrived at the Mansion, he requested that Mario leave some items behind, while also letting himself be captured. This then gave Luigi a motive to rescue Mario from the "evil clutches" of King Boo. Later in Dark Moon, Egad released King Boo purposefully, and told him that he was going to go to Evershade Valley, and invited Mario to come with him. Mario attempted to invite Luigi, but Luigi Denied, so King Boo decided to get Luigi to go to a ghostly place that actually had friendly ghost. With Egad and Mario, he came up with an idea to help give Luigi a sense of saving the world, so he shattered the Dark Moon Piece and let Mario get trapped in a painting, so Luigi had a reason to come, if Egad failed to bring him. He later gave the Dark Moon Shards to the 5 Possessor Ghosts, giving them instructions to test Luigi in each of their encounters. He also worked with the 5 toads and got them to take photos of specific scenes to help remind Egad on what he should say, but also give Luigi a sense of wondering who the Boo's were carrying in the photos.
Heck, I also bet the Hotel Luigi, Mario, Peach, and the Toads are arriving to in Luigi's Mansion 3 is in fact King Boo's Hotel and he invited them all to have a relaxing Vacation.

*My Theory*
When the dark moon broke in luigis mansion 2 dark moon it made all the ghost go mad
so maybe the same thing is happening to king boo since he has a similar thing on his crown
Maybe something broke making king boo go crazy and he tried to replace it
It’s obviously not his original at least after the first game since the crown always comes off when Luigi vacuums them up
plus the sunshine King Boo is a different character
