Gives me goosebumps everytime. I'm 73. Saw him at the Theatre Royal in Lincoln on Friday 13th May. One of the highlights of my life. Magical. It's like an anthem.
I was expecting him to tour in my city, a date was booked, but then Covid happened and the concert was postponed. And then it seems he could no longer come. R.I.P. I wanted to experience a live performance by Steve so much.❤❤❤
My mother used to listen this and other Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel songs. Now she's gone, withered away by the cancer that consumed her. She never was much of mother, but for me, songs like this are far more precious than all the care and motherhood in the world.

I only learnt about this song as it was used as the sound track to accompany the weekly Scouts Sunday evening slide show in Kandersteg when I worked there in 1980. No idea why it was chosen - probably because it was quite long and very atmospheric. Only later did I discover whose song it was - and what a bloody brilliant composition it was.
