As a student of military history, I can say the depiction of the battle is fairly accurate. The NK victory at Taejon was the high water mark of their success (not the Chinese intervention). The credit for the victory at Taejon, while tactically goes to the NK army, but in reality it is the fault of the US Congress for not funding the army adequately. They thought all future wars would be nuclear and didn't see much need for ground forces. The Divisions that the USA sent from Japan to Korea in the early days, were barely at 50% strength and short much of their heavy equipment. A full strength infantry regiment normally holds a front of 3,500-4,800 yards, yet in Korea these same half strength units were asked to hold frontages 5 to 6 times that. With all these holes in the front the NK soldiers were able to easily flank and surround US forces. later in the war when stabilized fronts were established the communists forces were unable to use these types of tactics and the war devolved into a meat grinder WW-1 type.
That is a fantastic exhibit!! Deeply impressed!! I loved the Gettysburg Cyclorama, but this is even more impressive!! Just think of the amount of WORK that went into it!! I am continually impressed by NK artwork!!
@@LumotakuExcept it wasn't? You've obviously never heard of battle of Taejon which guess what , WAS indeed a North Korean tactical victory after which the Busan perimeter was established.
The guide is drop dead gorgeous. And the panorama is beautiful. I have a kind of morbid curiosity with North Korea, might go there one day if I have the chance
Hopefully they didn’t leave out the parts where after the North Korean army took the town they executed the wounded that couldn’t walk out and the officer chaplain that stayed behind to negotiate their safety. The chaplain was the only officer left in charge after general Dean was captured with other officers and enlisted soldier. The chaplain had even given my dad instructions to help destroy any equipment and get out as many walking wounded as possible. From a far distance, my dad said an observer looking through binoculars saw the executions.
Not gonna lie the rooms very well crafted i like how they combined the painting with a mini set surrounding the platform which gives the sense of being actually there nice job to who ever made this room
This is interesting for me because we Hungarians have a similar work, which we call the Feszty panorama, and it was made by Árpád Feszty between 1892 and 1894. The painting shows the Hungarian conquest, which took place in 895.
would like to see that :) have no interest in seeing this propagana stupidity. We have something called the Gettysburg Diaroma which im sure would interest you.
@@Lumotaku I mean Hungary is renowned in academic circles for completely fabricating so much of their own history and inventing a myth, the Feszty Panorama is definitely very effective propaganda.
That's cute. The Imperial Americans started the war by assisting the true government of Korea defend itself when the North Korean army moved south of the 38th with no provocation.
OK, one thousand of US soldiers died to defend Taejeon, where I ive now and my father and his family members lived then. You thank you for killing them and cerebrating its memorial. Instead I thank and pray for US soldiers and General Dean who landed to Taejeon airfield against harsh weather and was captured to serve as POW for 3 years. Funny thing is that the only pure reason North Korea army invaded my country was to liberate from freedom and present communism and concentration camp. Now I teach my son that North Korean communists miss that time. No thank you for liberating our town again.
Seoul fallen 4 times Pyongyang was almost fallen before china came to rescue north korea was supported by china soviet and 4 other countries South Korea was supported by usa led nato un forces it ended as stalemate and drawing a DMZ
Though the general depiction is correct, I did notice a few inaccuracies as I watched the video several times. There were no M-4 tanks at Taejon as depicted. They did not see combat till late the end of July/early August. The depiction of KN troops advancing in waves carrying their flag never happened.
Please look Wikipedia and Google you will see the truth! And when you realy interressting in the truth on TH-cam are Fotos and Videos from that war . Sorry my broken english
its 2021 id rather be in North Korea than here where a man is treated like a terrorist just for having an opinion....... at least the women there havent slept with every dude and twerking online for money
Interesting, I have been to Taejon and up on a hill in a park where a battle took place, probably the same one there which is being portrayed.. Thank God they spell right there, now they spell it Daejon in South Korea. peace.
The name is the same in both north and south Korean. The difference is how it's transliterated into English - The more modern system transliterates the name as Daejeon, the older system Taejon. It's the same as how Peking is now Beijing. It's always been the same in Chinese, the English transliteration of Chinese phonetics has simply evolved.
Another glorious victory in the North Korean imagination... the North Koreans did overwhelm the outnumbered and under-prepared US defenders. For a start, the US did not have any Sherman tanks in the Korean peninsula at the time, Nor did the North Koreans destroy "3,000" US tanks and down "10,000" aircraft during the Korean War.

My uncle Samuel King Kauhane Jr. of Kaneohe - Oahu, Hawaii was killed in that battle on July 19, 1950. 34th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division.
