Hi Lee, I just replaced a xenon globe in my 2016 Audi Q7. I saw the full Audi Technically correct way to do it on a carcare post where you have to remove the whole bumper. Was not keen on doing this so i did it a similar way to what you have shown. This was a drivers side light and i got it out reasonably easy and changed the globe no problem. The problem came when i was refitting the headlight assembly, and as you pointed out the lugs are designed in i way which is just stupid engineering to be honest, as it is difficult to get the light properly aligned to push in. It just makes no sense to design it like that. Those locating lugs basically serve no purpose besides general location lugs. Anyway the only way i felt comfortable getting the light back in, without using alot of force which could potentially damage something, was to do the same as yourself and loosen the right hand locating lug, and slide it up about 10mm. The light just slide straight in then and it was easy. Only problem now is that the locating lug is not tightened up, and you cant get to it. So i loosened the under engine cover directly under the car in that area, and just pulled it down, which i could then access this torque screw with a stretched out arm, which was reasonably easy. Tightened it up and screwed the cover back on. Only took me about 5-10min to do this. If i have to change a globe again i will loosen this locating lug screw first from under the car, then the light will come out and go back in much easier. Just thought i share how i went about it. Cheers Thanks for the video Lee it helped alot.
Lee, did you buy an OEM replacement headlight assembly or aftermarket? I need a new drivers side headlight and new aftermarket coming in at $1,100 and new OEM is double that(on ebay), over triple that through dealer.
I found that one on eBay for $200 or $300. Sounds like I was lucky? Many times, I have bought used parts by going to salvages yards directly. Some of salvage yard’s websites list cars (not parts) in the yard. In SE PA where I live, “Harry’s u pull it” has a nice website. Sorry I don’t have other advice.
Hi, I noticed that the front bumper of this car is slightly misaligned. You can observe it at 0.15 seconds in the video. Have you already addressed this issue? I own the same model, and I've encountered a similar problem with my car's front bumper. I'm curious if it's easily repairable.
Hey Lee, great video! I just replaced my passenger side headlight assembly on my '18 Audi Q7 Prestige due to a row of my DRL's turning yellow. The installation went well and the light works perfectly. However, now I am receiving 2 malfunction warnings on my dash. One says "Headlight Malfunction" while the other says "Audi Adaptive Lighting Malfunction". Did you encounter either of the other issues? If so, do you have a fix for this? Thanks!
I did not get any warnings. I also move the transformer from old to new, since new did not come with them. Maybe you should swap them? If you did, verify they are attached all the way. I recall the seals being very tight. Also look for bent pins. Hope that helps.
@@leeberk9857 Thanks I actually took it to the dealership. They swapped modules to eliminate that . The fault code persist. I may just have a faulty used headlight but all lights are working perfectly.
Every other video I’ve seen said you have to remove the bumper to remove the headlights, my model is a 2017 3.0T, would I have to remove my bumper to get to my headlights or no?
Sorry, I guess I should get a tripod.? After you remove the screws, the light unit will slide forward about an inch or two and then it’s free to flip over to disconnect the drain tube
Lee. Completely different situation. My DRL are yellowing and I need a fix. Besides going back to the dealer to send mega bucks. Can anyone on the chat help.
Very different question. Not an expert here, but I know you can buy polish to take the top yellow layer off the lens. Some I have head use tooth paste, but that sounds like it will take a long time to do that.
@@leeberk9857 it’s not the lens. It’s the DRL that’s not showing the white color but what’s referred to as yellowing. Just wondering if you or any of your subscribers encountered that issue. There are videos on the A3and A5. Not seen any for the Q7 but they suffer the same issues. 🤷🏽♂️
Why u skip the process of how u get the headlight out i cant them slid forward its stucking or holding something to light to come forward. Maybe u hv some hight quality lube.
It’s been years since I did this, but if I recall, is was difficult to move forward. I think there may have been a clip I had to push with a flat head thin screw diver to move forward that was on the underside, but not 100% sure I recall that. To get back was harder. The is a bolt on the back of the track that I am not sure you cand reach while the light is installed. If you can, just loosening it will help. Raise Ing that track and leavening the bolt not super tight allowed me to get in place, slide back, and push back down in place.
I’m calling bullsh!t on this video. It’s not as easy to take out. Tried for an hour. Did everything as described. You need to take the bumper off. It won’t loosen from the clips underneath.

Hey Jeremy, can you point me to where you found your aftermarket replacement?
@@CLDavisJr Hello, I haven't purchased it yet but it was through LKQ

I was fixing this car for a friend. She traded it shortly after the video. The car also had minor grill damage. Wish I could help.
Did you need to align the aiming back?
I didn’t

I did not remove the bumper. In the video I had trouble putting it back, but once I raised those tracks, it went back in just fine.
Why didn't you show you pulling out the light? Not sure how you got that out and back in without pulling the bumper.

why you just replaced the lens?
The used part was inexpensive! Plus the lenses looked to be glued/sealed on to the frame
Brilliant. Thank you

Lol it’s so hard to line up the clips because your supposed to remove the front fascia to replace the headlights lol😂
I discovered that if you loosen them to semi tight, they are easier to get the unit back in place. Not sure if I said that in the video.

That’s not very nice. That is how it worked for me., I am not a company, just an individual trying to record my work
Messy work. No cleaning or lubricators applied to the slide? Good quality labor includes working to a high standard.
