There’s something called threading the needle in sailing when you sail between the stacks, only possible in spring high tides and low draft boats, the reward is not having to negotiate the massive standing waves and tides in heavy winds, massive risk big reward.

I was born there in at Bonchurch in Dec 1945 (thanks (S)hitler), and have a visited many places on the Island, but never seen this tunnel, but know the the Needles quite well. It's time I nipped out there to have a look....:)

What's wierd is there are hundreds of "batteries". Old forts. They are usually built on even older star forts
