    That’s a right nice little bug dude and, as always, accompanied by a whole lot of enthusiasm. Perfect. Thank you for another one Tim. They’re always appreciated.

    Great lesson! OK Tim, my favorite jig nymph is actually a variation of Craig Matthew's "Shop Vac". The Shop Vac is famous in Montana Yellowstone Country.. Simple fly, but it really sucks up the trout, hence the name. Scud hook with tungsten bead or inverting tungsten bead when used as a point fly (the inverting bead qualifies it into the jig category), pink GloBrite hot spot on bend, 4-6 natural pheasant tail fibers wrapped to near the eye for the body, small copper wire counter ribbed, gray or white z-lon wing (or wing case if you prefer) cut short on top of hook, black or favorite Ice Dub collar. Works great on a Euro set up as a point fly. It is really the only nymph pattern I use on the Madison. Got to get you to Montana ! Any baby news yet?

      I know the Shop Vac and LOVE this variation! Do you coat the Glo-Brite with a UV resin or head cement? Thanks for sharing. As for the baby, Josephine was born on June 29, and both Heather and her are healthy and relaxing as I type! Thanks for checking, and if you have a picture of your version of the Shop Vac, email my way: tcammisa@gmail.com Thanks, and I hope all is well! Tim www.troutandfeather.com

      Thanks Tim, I wrap the Glo Brite and use UV before I tie in the Pheasant fibers, leaving the fibers natural. The UV j makes the GloBrite shine. I also add a CDC collar on occasion, it adds to the caddis "look", if that is what the fish are looking for.

    Not having a ton of experience, I’d have to say that my perfect jig nymph is a jirou style PT with soft hackle without a lot of flashiness. Or a zebra Perdigon with a small red hot spot. I have caught most of my fish on those 2.

      @TimCammisa  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing, Brian, though I think the "perfect" nymph will continually change based on where we're fishing. Then again, this one has produced really well for me...that CDC is a killer! Tim www.troutandfeather.com

    I cut my synthetic quills patch in two pieces so i have no need to save a sticky quill. It stays simply on the patch😉

      Now come on, that's cheating...because I didn't think of it! ;-) AWESOME suggestion and I appreciate you sharing. I look forward to hearing from you on some of my other videos. Tim www.troutandfeather.com

    Another great tutorial. I'm only a year behind! Ha, ha. I did tye some jig nymphs following a notification article from Big T last year on a size 10 BL hook he offered. I used Dk Olive UV Ice Dub for the body, tungsten 3.5mm slotted bead, black thread, and a fluorescent pink hot spot. I have not fished this particular fly yet. But did try others. I had more success on the edges of the pool ( I'm fishing warm water.) than thru the center of the pool. On your fly I noticed your dubbing noodle was much thinner. That was a great learning moment. I have a tendency to gather too much dubbing. Thanks for another great video.

      Hi Philip and thanks for the question re: Semperfli materials. More fly shops in our country are stocking them and a quick Google search should suffice. If you're having problems, shoot me an email and I can get you a list of a few: tcammisa@gmail.com Thanks for checking! Tim

    Great tutorial Tim. Question- I’ve used the synthetic quills and love how easy they are to use, but seem to always catch more trout with the natural quills. Has anyone else had the same experience? Tim keep up the good work.

      @TimCammisa  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question, and I look forward to seeing other thoughts on this one. I haven't noticed a difference personally, though wonder if you have more confidence when fishing the naturals versus a synthetic? Just a guess and would love to hear what others think. Thanks for posing the question! Tim www.troutandfeather.com
