  • One of the best ways to upgrade the interior of your Porsche is with a new steering wheel. It's also the most tactile connection we have to our cars, so it makes a huge difference to the driving experience.
I've just installed a 982/992-style steering wheel to my 981 Boxster, courtesy of Porsche Master, and I LOVE it. To get yours, go to www.porschemas.... At the time of publishing, the wheels are compatible with the 997, 991, 987, 981, 718, Macan, Panamera, and Cayenne Porsche models.

Ditto. Except for the horn issue, which we discovered on a 200 km drive to the country the next day, where it suddenly started sounding all by itself! I had to pull the fuse until I made it to my dad’s house. That’s when we discovered the need to wind back the torx screws a bit. I’m going to connect the scan tool tomorrow to clear the airbag error light.

I have a 987.2 Cayman and have the standard wheel with no buttons. Whilst I live and deal with it, not letting it ruin my enjoyment, I would be lying if I said having buttons on the wheel wouldn't be a nice convenience. So whether it's this wheel or my same wheel but with the buttons, i'm not sure yet, but it will happen at some point. Looks absolutely excellent on your Boxster though, and the tutorial showing how to put it on is very helpful! Keep up the great content!

Suspension, tyres, and the steering wheel have always been the things I’m quickest to update on a car - going right back to my Holden Gemini in 1986 - because they control how connected you feel with the car and the road. The buttons are definitely convenient, but the look and feel of the new wheel is really special.

@@peterfritzphoto I got this steering wheel. The airbag seems genuine, and the leather on it seems genuine (butter soft; I was expecting the steering wheel airbag to be the textured, cheaper, non-leather surface), but the steering wheel "leather" is definitely faux leather. The metal plastic looks just a bit shinier, more like a chrome plastic than a polished aluminum plastic (just a little bit). The plastic bezel has finishing spots from the mold that mess of the lines/finish. The buttons feel okay, but they push in with a cheaper feel and less bounce-back like on an economy car. It is subtle, but all these things were noticeable to my OCD. This is a cheaper option, but I will end up selling the steering wheel, keeping the airbag, and I found a used 991.2 steering wheel that was practically flawless. The second I got it, the genuine leather was butter smooth, and the plastic materials just felt tight and solid with a more premium feel and function.
