The US govt always uses the political rhectorics about maintaining and enforcing the rules of law around the world ! The question is whose rules and whose laws? The US rules and laws don't legally apply outside the borders of the US!

It has never been China vs the USA. It China vs Any and Everyone who they don't agree with. The USA + 80% of the world is against Putler and Xi. That includes 18% who abstained to stay Neutral.

It is not the Rules of Law as the Rules of Law in the international context is the body of international law aka the UN Charter, the Conventions and their Protocols, the Rome Treaty and the various instrumentalities. You meant the International Rules Based Order which was so ably questioned by the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov who asked those proponents to name one Order.

In all fairness most nations have foreign policies based on patriotism and paranoia. If you are a world hegemon this means controlling as much of the rest of the world as possible, by whatever means you can get away with. Provoking the war with Russia was a monumental mistake though for the US for obvious reasons. I'm surprised Democracy Now! is supporting the Ukraine war.

Because it’s faking victimhood of “under threat” to make excuses to make more weapons, build more oversea military bases, and patrol around the world. They pretend they are on “self defense” when they are “self defending” half a globe away from USA. It’s all faking victimhood, and faking “righteousness”. It’s disingenuous. China has been claiming neighbors’ islands as their own. I wrote this in a separate comment but they, like the Russians, don’t see their sovereign neighbors as countries but as expansion opportunities. Which is why they feel emboldened by the invasion into Ukraine and Russias purported plan to take Belarus within the next decade. Get some critical thinking skills and realize this program is no different than Fox News. They spew extremist propaganda where every geopolitical issue is a U.S.-centric one. Notice they don’t report news like “China is planning to invade Taiwan” and instead skew it extremely and dangerously to say “China is planning to invade Taiwan and here’s why the U.S. is bad and therefore we shouldn’t blame China for the invasion.” This world is huge and most of what is going on DOESNT need to center around some US exceptionalist viewpoint.

The only wars China has been in during that span of time have been the wars in Korea, India, and Vietnam and all three of which were instigated by the USA as well since it was the US that was the driving force behind those wars by prodding those countries to go to war with China or used those countries as battering rams against China. In the eyes of the US, China is a threat because China and Russia are the only two countries in the world that the US can't invade at will and can't destroy and subjugate to the US's domination and control any time the US feels like it. For that reason, the US sees both China and Russia as a threat to its global domination and that's why the US always wants to start a war with both of those countries by using nearby smaller countries located next to those two countries as proxies to fight a war with China and Russia so that the US doesn't have to fight a direct war with them and risk losing the lives of millions of American soldiers and civilians to those two countries that could fight back against the US's aggression. Ukraine is a proxy that the US uses to fight Russia, Taiwan is a proxy that the US uses to fight China. It has nothing to do with "human rights" or "democracy" for the US killed more people than any nation in the world since WW2 and the US violated the democracy and human rights of dozens of countries, way more than any country has ever done in the history of the world! I hope now people understand why the US feels the need to go thousands of miles outside of its own borders to stir up troubles for China and Russia. It was all part of the US's plan implemented a long time ago to "contain" and "control" the growth of any countries that have the capability to reach the status of the US in economic, military, or global status. Any countries that do well enough to have an economy that is within the vicinity of the US is considered as a threat to the US and must be destroyed, they don't have to do anything to the US for them to be considered a threat to the US. As US officials often say, they must be taken out "preemptively" before they might have the chance to post a threat to the US in some way.

The phrase or meaning that Taiwan is part of China is not only in PRC's constitution, but in the ROC's (Taiwan) constitution as well. And the PRC has repeatedly emphasized that it prefers towards a political and peaceful solution towards unification. What US does under Biden admin is to push Taiwan towards de facto independence, the most dangerous scenario that a civil war will break out.

the Chinese civil war was never officially over. The CPC and KMT never signed any peace treaty since 1949. But since KMT fled to Taiwan it has lost power to new political parties.
During KMT's era in mainland China, the KMT was backed by United States government, therefore the Chinese civil war can be viewed, in a sense, as a US proxy war. If the Chinese were lured into striking a US military asset intentionally, or even by some kind of mistake, god forbid, the US will have the justification and legitimacy to launch an attack in response, and will then tell the world that China has had a preemptive strike against US and therefore US striking back would be deemed as "defensive". So far the Chinese have been very careful, diplomatic, disciplined and reserved in any kind of military action if at all. A very misleading presentation of a key data. China's 7.2% increase of it military budget actually is a sign of Constraint, not aggression like presented here.
First of all, China's 7.2% increase is just keeping pace with its inflation + targeted GDP growth, So this will keep the Chinese Military expense at only 1.2% of China's GDP.
Secondly, China's 1.2% of GDP military spending is among the lowest in the world and have been that way for decade. Comparing to 3.7% of GDP by US, China is not in the Arm Race mode at all. Even the peaceful Japan and Germany are planning to raise the military budget to 2% of their GDP.

    • @theolich4384
      @theolich4384 ปีที่แล้ว +2

What exactly does "interfere militarily" mean is up to interpretation. Certainly the Americans don't want a Korean or Vietnam War 2.0 but what about at least providing air support and missile strikes? BTW they're stockpiling the island up and training the ROC army - which means they're already involved, militarily. What does China make of it?
Also even the goal of US meddling with Taiwan itself is up for debate. Like LKY said, as long as Chinese nationalism prevails (which if defeated, will always come back even stronger), the chance of defending the island from PLA invasion is dim. But what if the goal, ever elusive, was never to defend Taiwan in the first place? A war that could slow China down, like how Ukraine is drowning the Russians...

1: October 1, 1949, at 3:00 pm in Tienanmen Square the formation of the Central People's Government under the leadership of the CPC, the government of the new state, was officially proclaimed. Mao declared victory to the people stating “The poor peasants have conquered the country; the poor peasants should now sit on the country.”
The CPC won the civil war and the PRC was formed and the ROC escaped to the still official Japanese island of Formosa in 1949
      The war is over. FACT
2: The Cairo Declaration 1943 discussed the possibility of handing the island of Taiwan to the ROC. This discussion required a treaty to become official and was never implemented. FACT
3: The Treaty of San Francisco: When Japan relinquished its sovereignty of Taiwan with The Treaty of San Francisco after the ROC invaded the Japanese island, China was not even invited. The treaty was signed by 49 nations but both the ROC and CCP were NOT present. FACT
4: : The Taipei Peace Treaty: Due to objections by The Soviet Union The Taipei Peace Treaty 1952 was created. FACT
Article 10 of the Taipei Peace Treaty stipulates that “nationals of the Republic of China shall be deemed to include all the inhabitants and former inhabitants of Taiwan (Formosa) and Penghu (the Pescadores).” Therefore the Taipei Peace Treaty transferred Japans sovereignty of Taiwan to ALL the inhabitants living of the island NOT to mainland China. FACT The inhabitants in 1952 were the ROC escapees, Taiwanese Aborigines, Japanese descendants, Dutch descendants, Portuguese descendants, previous Chinese descendants.
THE ISLAND WAS NOT HANDED TO MAINLAND CHINA. FACT
5: One China Policy 1979: Does not state that Taiwan is part of China. FACT
To quote directly from this US/CCP agreement:
:"The Government of the United States of America acknowledges the Chinese position that there is but one China and Taiwan is part of China." This does not declare that the US agrees with China's position it simply acknowledges it. E.g I can acknowledge that my friend is a Republican even though my political stance may be Democrat. THIS SENTENCE STATES THERE IS ONE CHINA BUT DOES NOT STATE THAT TAIWAN IS PART OF CHINA. FACT
6: Taiwan Relations Act 1979 (release at the same time as One China Policy): The TWA factually proves that the US is not meddling in Taiwan's affair it is merely fulfilling its obligations as per the agreement. FACT To quote from TWA:
"Declares it to be the policy of the United States to preserve and promote extensive, close, and friendly commercial, cultural, and other relations between the people of the United States and the people on Taiwan, ".... "Authorizes the President or any department and agency to conduct and carry out programs, transactions, and other relations with respect to the people on Taiwan."
Therefore the Pelosi visit or any official governmental visit is legitimate and of no concern to the CCP. FACT
TWA also declares: "that the United States shall provide Taiwan with arms of a defensive character and shall maintain the capacity of the United States to resist any resort to force or other forms of coercion that would jeopardize the security, or social or economic system, of the people of Taiwan."
Therefore again the US is NOT meddling into Taiwan/China affairs it is again fulfilling its obligatory agreement irrespective of the CCP's propagandist responses. FACT
7: “UN Resolution No. 2758 ruled in 1971, that the PRC had obtained the representation rights and all legal rights originally owned by the ROC in the UN”. It is true that UN recognition was handed to the CPC as they were the ruling government of China not the ROC . The officially written UN resolution does not state that Taiwan is part of China. FACT
Therefore as clearly demonstrated above, Taiwan is not part of China.
The only legal way that the CCP can unify with Taiwan is via an official written treaty.
That is the solution to the CCP's ambitions. How the CCP intend to create this treaty and convince the people of taiwan is the issue,

Even the constitution of Taiwan states that it's part of China. That cannot be changed without 75% vote. But the party of Taiwan's current president lost the election weeks ago by 78%-22%, calling it a "referendum on independence". She resigned in defeat and there will be a new president in a January presidential election. The party that just won the house election wants closer ties to China and recently met with Chinese leaders.

Agree that Taiwan should be returned to the aboriginals that ruled the island for 30000 years. The only issue is that the aboriginals have been mostly bread out. Many of the aboriginal were in fact black.
People do not realize that the Portuguese then Dutch followed by the Manchurian only ever controlled part of the island due to the inhospitable aboriginals,
it was in fact the Japanese who were truly the first conquerors of Taiwan not anybody else.

Sovereignty isn't determined by a province, city, municipality, etc. Hawaii, Texas, PR, Guam, etc also aren't sovereign even tho the majority wish to break from the US. And if it did, then should a city therein be able to defy the state and rejoing the union? And them a neighborhood in the city declare separate soverignty from the city? You advocate for the path of chaos, not to mention it's constitutionally unlawful. Just like how Quebec and Alberta couldn't get sovereignty from Canada, even after a majority voted for sovereignty in a referendum. It's not the juridisction of voters. Why? The constitution, to protect the rights of the minority. Taiwan is PROVINCE of china, part of china, and LEGALLY not sovereign.
I don't give a whit about Taiwan or the ppl there, except that some mostly-young hotheads brainwashed by US media, have been all whipped up by the US NED into wanting to literally fight for unlawful sovereignty, that it can trigger WW3 just as the evil US warmongering elite want. I already had a lifetime fill of that 55 years ago in that region in Vietnam which was based on lies for the benefit of an elite that profited enormously by it. History repeats when ppl are ignorant of it. But that's what you want? War and death?? The ukraine is a peaceful messiah compared to what taiwan will become - likely nuclear in the end.

Amy you have been to Egypt and the surrounding countries and I am sure you enjoyed the experience. Please take a month off and go further East starting from India and I bet you will find a whole new world out there. It will be fun!
