Thank you for your generosity in showing great abstract (w/watercolor on yupo) techniques. I see why you are an internationally renowned artist, author and workshop instructor.
Love the composition awareness and the technique instruction, I am a more fluid artist but that is because I have not explore angular shapes ( I may feel out of my element). You have given me insight to my block and will give it a try.
Hi Bernice, I spoke with Mark Mehaffey for help answering your question. He says, yes...but anything that is not soluble (re wetable ) -- like alcohol inks /India ink and acrylic -- cannot be 'lifted' once dry. And "lift ability" is one of the main attributes of YUPO. Hence why he uses mostly watercolor and gouache. Of course all those really interesting textures that water, pigment and YUPO hands you are there regardless. His advice...test everything!
Bernice Seigel Ammonia and water solution (about 50/50) will lift dried India ink on Yupo in areas you place the solution. Leave on different durations and test the lift. Alcohol will lift dried acrylic, similar to its action on other papers...you must try it. I know 91% alcohol lifts dried India Ink from Yupo, as well.
I have worked for Yupo of America in Chesapeake Va, I was working rf /ff tech 9yrs before getting hurt, they left me with less fingers than when I first started, out of work for 6 months of rehab pain sweat n tears, when I returned they, ( YUPO ) some in management blamed me for the injury and wanted me to pay back money and all for time I lost,wow...... ins/401 k and had to use all my vacation to help pay while I was out of work, they block me from face book block me from you tube! WHY THEY HATE
I never liked Yupo. It was too easy to work on with no challenges. On a different kind of paper, say Illustration board, the paint dries with a heavy build up, while yupo is always "slippery looking"

Watching this video, it is obvious that this is a fun way to approach art. Very introspective, yet imaginative!
Best workshop leader EVER!!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE !!!!!!! Thank you so much, Mr Mark.
Awesome video! I love his use of Punchinella (mylar tape) to do lifts. I've never thought to use it to remove paint. Learned something new.
I have Yupo on order, will be able to play soon. Great video!

Artists and other Yupo users, we need to investigate this!
I'll most definitely give it a try
Enjoyed the video. Question, can I use watercolor, India ink, alcohol ink and acrylics ALL on the same Yupo painting?

LOL, sucks
I thought abstract "artists" would love yupo since this is basically shitting color on a surface
wow - shitting Color is a new medium!!!
