Thank you, we are just at the initial stages of choosing which route we are going down. This was really helpful.

Thank you for this video I have just found you, If I am an approved adopter with my local authority am I still able to look at other agencies to register with if I think my waiting time to get a match is now too long.?

Thanks for your support of the channel. If your LA is in a regional adoption set up there is no need to go elsewhere as they should combine searches even with agencies. You can go anywhere you like if they aren't finding you a match. They should have a protocol for that. Sometimes bigger LA's are better to work with... more children unfortunately. But the lack of matching may be down to a poor carer profile, update that first, do a profile video? Not just a family book. Ask about matching days too.

I am doing my teacher training this year, do you know if school work counts as working with children in care? I work with secondary school children and I would love to adopt and didn't realise you didn't need to have children already or be older than 21!

Hi. Thank you for your informative video. May I ask something, please? If I would like to adopt a child from overseas, what kind of agency I should contact? Thank you. Regards

Usually charities who do this but be careful as some ask for cash. Try your local authority first for information. Or use co-pilot AI which will give you advice.

My grandfather’s old RAF wings replicas. Originals were Canadian airforce and polish airforce as he taught both sets of pilots - well spotted

Ancestry website is the best for that or Adoption UK to do a search. But pay the ancestry subscription and they will find who over. There’s even a dna part.

Hi @sociablesocialworker I'm a single transgender woman with a good career behind me as a research scientist and looking to adopt in the next few years maybe 3-5 yrs time but really want to get ahead of the game in understanding the processes. I'm also gaining experience be spend loads of time with my friends children but honestly can't wait until the time is right for me.
Can you do a video or point me in the direction of some material on direct adoption of newborn babies through LA's or RAA's. DIthanagency as I'm not worried about the area of the country I adopt from. Or is there any data showing that certain areas of the country have more newborns for adoption and therefore would be statistically more likely to find a match?

Hi, thanks for the support. This is a good link on stats for children adopted including babies. coram-i.org.uk/asglb/data/
The average age children are adopted is around 3 some younger. There are fewer and fewer babies for adoption and due to technology matches happen across the UK so it doesn’t matter where you live it’s about the right match for the baby/child or young person. You are doing the right thing getting parenting experience and perhaps it would be useful to foster. Although I would never advocate fostering as a short cut to adoption sometimes this can happen, it is rare and shouldn’t be a plan. Try and do some online training on attachment and child development which would help. I am sure you will be great and a fantastic parent. Your doing all the prep work which is amazing. Best of luck and let me know how you get on. This is a good channel th-cam.com/users/NyreeSquiresadoption

@@SociableSocialWorker Thanks for the advice, In my degree I had to cover developmental psychology and attachment (although I never claim to be a psychologist) but will brush up on it and find some online training to do.
