      I could not stand those 46.6 Floyd Rose where you have to cut the strings off and it's a royal pain and if you lose that little tiny metal piece your done and they won't stay in tune. I will never get another tremolo

      Something to add to your sound demo could be rolling back the volume knob and see how the pickups clean up. Especially when they already drive a clean channel.

    The bridge was not setup the right way, it was poking inside, it should be kept level to the top. There is mark to be followed. That is why the trem bend was so limited and the dive bombs so extreme.

    Schaller made the original Floyd Rose. It’s basically an “Original “ Floyd Rose on that explorer. 👊🏻
    And the only reason you can’t pull up on it is because you don’t have it set up correctly. You’ve already got the tail buried. For a guy that buys 1/2 million dollars worth of guitars a year, you should probably learn to set them up. Or get someone who can. Have a nice day. 👊🏻

      I’m really not trying to be an ass. But Trogly has the resources to regale us with some pretty amazing guitars. Therefore he should have the resources or know-how to present a guitar in its best possible working version. He doesn’t need to be a genius on all platforms. But a fairly basic understanding of how to set a guitar up (Floyd or otherwise) should be par for the course at this level. Take a class or two. Watch Stew Mac videos, there are a bunch of resources online. And if you’re too busy , find a local guy (or gal) that you trust to set up (electronics, locate missing parts, Floyd , soldering, etc) . He constantly dogs Floyd and kahler guitars because of his lack of knowledge. If you know how to properly set up a Floyd or kahler guitar, they are second to none with tuning stability. I have classic Les Pauls. But I also have ESP, Schecter, Ibanez, and a couple LTD’s equipped with Floyd Rose systems. If I don’t touch one of those guitars for 6 months, it will still be in tune when I pick it up. And never go out. I get it. Trogly is a busy guy. He’s a happy-go-lucky guitar nerd. Our own Gibson Gump. But it’s time to up your game Trogster.👊🏻 I’m looking forward to 2021 and what you have in store for us. 🤘🏻

      @ctothekaye7989 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely correct. There is no difference in construction from this to an "original" Floyd. I don't know if Floyd Rose still has them built by Schaller, but Schaller definitely still builds trems just like these.

    hey Ausin .. love the guitar .. keep rockin'! about the trem .. Looks like a Floyd style design to me. It's just not set up 'properly'. It should sit level to the body when tuned to pitch, not canted angled back as it is.

    • @fezmey6117
      @fezmey6117 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very true. This is part of why he wasn't able to pull it up as far. It also depends on how deep of a recess the cavity has, which this one looks fairly shallow compared to other brands that tend to make guitars specifically for players that use/abuse their trems (ie-Ibanez). I have heard many good things about the Schaller made double locking trem systems. This video doesn't showcase any of that, but Trogly even admits that he isn't that well versed with these style of trem systems. If I find myself in his neck of the woods one day, I may have to see if would be willing to learn a bit. I'm no master of these systems, but I have been working on them for nearly 15 years, and I enjoy working on them.

    • @JoseGonzalez-eq8gz
      @JoseGonzalez-eq8gz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m also pretty sure he suppose to block the trem so it doesn’t sink, no wonder he always has trouble with Floyd rose

    • @qaawale
      @qaawale 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fezmey6117 One thing about the Schaller version is that the screws locking the strings are physically more compact and 'higher', resulting in less of a 'tail' to the geometry of the design and also requiring far less material to be removed from the body. Ibanez's "LoPro" being the most extreme in this regard, requiring a sizable chunk of the body to be removed, the Schaller would be the opposite and actually requires very little depth, breadth, or width of cut to accomplish the same movement range.

    • @fixerman3404
      @fixerman3404 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If someone put lighter gauge strings on it, this will lessen the tension on the bridge and it will tilt backward and vice versa with heavier gauge strings. To fix this, you must pull the trem cover off the back and adjust the screws holding the spring tensioner until the bridge is level. I have done this on many Floyd style bridges over the years.

  • @jeremysmetana8583
    @jeremysmetana8583 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Dude. The Schaller is exactly the same as the Floyd. The reason you can't pull it up is because you have the back end bottomed out in the cutaway. Loosen the springs until the bridge is parallel to the body. It shouldn't be tipped up like that. It should be flat so that it pivots both ways on the posts.

      It also doesn't store very easily if you've got either a smalle place or a place that you've got to share with other people. As I put in my own comment, when it sits around the house, it really sits around the house.

  • @pauljamescollins6699
    @pauljamescollins6699 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The Schaller FR isn’t ‘floating’ parallel to the body as it should - this is because the spring tensions were likely set up for heavier gauge strings than you are using
    This affects both pull-ups and tuning stability - properly setting up a FR is a bit of a black art
    Awesome looking guitar, and sound really good

  • @CRAZYCANUCKTV
    @CRAZYCANUCKTV 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Trogly, if the Schaller was set higher off the body, you would be able to utilize the Schaller trem exactly like a floyd rose. It's because you didn't have the bridge setup for reverse dives, only for normal dive bombing

    Too bad I'm on the other side of the state, or I'd offer to set up any future FR guitars you come by. It's probably already been said to death, but the trem was definitely not set up correctly - it should be level when at rest, not tucked back into the cavity. The Schaller _is_ a Floyd - they are the ones that actually made the originals (and probably still do, but I haven't looked into it) - and works the same way. It just has to be set up correct - which isn't hard, but it can be time-consuming.

  • @otisdriftwood3829
    @otisdriftwood3829 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    When removing the strings you need to block the back of the trem, that way when you re-string it the trem isn't sitting inside the body like that. It should be level/parallel to the body so that it floats. That way you have equal travel in both directions. If you need an easy visual aid just watch Ola work on a guitar, he uses all kinds of things as blocks...even foam works(and doesn't risk the finish).

    Serious metal ax...nice!😎Fretmarks should be a large blood red full moon design, like the name, not blood drops that hardly show...still, awesome 🤟🏽

    I was with ya right up until I saw the battery box. Anything that takes those damn 9v batteries I avoid like the plague. Whether in guitars, pedals, or rifle scopes, they'll fail at the most inconvenient time, and don't seem to last all that long, to begin with. Apart from that ... Damn, there's a lot to like on this guitar. A few things I wouldn't care for, but not bad.

    You have to play either vampires or moon baby by Godsmack on that

    The finish is both primitive and elegant, all at once. In places, it almost appears cracked.

    If they put that trem on a les Paul I would definitely buy one!, and I hate les Paul's lol. I love floyd rose double locking trems I have them on all my guitars. The biggest turn off for Gibson is the lack of tremelo systems and I hate the body styles unlike the beautiful strats I play 😉 but I dig this explorer I would play the hell out of it

      Thanks, I know that there are some active pickups that you can use either way.

    When he had that white, special effect border around himself and the guitar I thought for sure he was gonna play “No One Knows”.
