If you ask an elderly person (who lives in Turkey) about Korea, most of them says “we fought there, they are our brothers.” One of the soldiers who fought there was my grandfather, when my grandfather told me about the war, I listen with admiration. Unfortunately my grandfather died last year, it makes me feel so sad but I said “he was a hero, he saved thousands of lives” to myself. When I was watching K-Pop groups talking about Turkey and them saying that they really love Turkey and would love to visit our country one day, I thought they were just exaggerating to please the fans but now I know that everything they've mentioned about their love to Turkey is true, really makes me happy and I really hope that one day many K-Pop artists will start to give concerts in Turkey because there are millions of K-Pop fans but unfortunately not many people know that.

I am Turkish and when you started talking about Turkey helping Korea, I had tears in my eyes. This is sooo sweet. I actually don’t live in Turkey but in the Netherlands, I actually want to move away and go live in Korea. I also really find this so sweet, because if there is one thing I know about Turkey, it is that they are really honorabele people and fight for their ideals. I am so proud of my mother country and I am so happy that I got to know about Korea and K-pop. This really means a lot to me and I really don’t want to keep living in the Netherlands, I’ve been through a lot. Although people don’t see or know it, I really don’t like my experience in living here. I have met people (who are Dutch) and most of them have the same kind of personality and I never really liked them. Just a few good friends, it is mainly because I never really fitted in in their culture and I think that they really couldn’t care less about me. When I was younger I always thought that the respect Koreans have for Turkey might be a little overblown or because I only see it through a Turkish lens in Turkish documentaries and stuff. I am Turkish and when you started talking about Turkey helping Korea, I had tears in my eyes. This is sooo sweet. I actually don’t live in Turkey but in the Netherlands, I actually want to move away and go live in Korea. I also really find this so sweet, because if there is one thing I know about Turkey, it is that they are really honorabele people and fight for their ideals. I am so proud of my mother country and I am so happy that I got to know about Korea and K-pop. This really means a lot to me and I really don’t want to keep living in the Netherlands, I’ve been through a lot. Although people don’t see or know it, I really don’t like my experience in living here. I have met people (who are Dutch) and most of them have the same kind of personality and I never really liked them. Just a few good friends, it is mainly because I never really fitted in in their culture and I think that they really couldn’t care less about me. I am thankful that there is a country that thinks so positively about Turkey and I hope to go to Korea one day and fulfil my dreams there.감사합니다!💜💜💜

It was honestly very impressive! She always told me that korea is one of the less countries which worships the help turkish soldiers gave them, so she really was like 'they keep being thankful for turkey and thats why i am thankful for them, because they dont forgot us' 🧸🌸❤

In fact Turkish and Korean culture are similar in their structure: Both have an special understanding of honour, shame and loyalty. Both show respect to parents and ancestors.
There is a song well-known in Korea, which has Turkish origins, but not many Koreans know the story behind:
“Üsküdara giderken, aldı da bir yağmur,
katibim setresi uzun, eteği çamur,
Katip uykudan uyanmış gözleri mahmur,
Katip benim ben katibin el ne karışır..”
The Koreans know the ottoman melody of it, but only few know, that they know it because Turkish soldiers sang it in Korea far from their country. This melody got popular in Korea, but the story and the context was forgotten.
If you visit Istanbul, the capital of the former Ottoman Empire, you will hear and remember it.

When I was younger I always thought that the respect Koreans have for Turkey might be a little overblown or because I only see it through a Turkish lens in Turkish documentaries and stuff. But the internet has really shown that Koreans are a proud people that don't forget those that helped them out. It makes me even more proud that my great grandfather fought Korea.
