@@mostholemy brother in the marker I don’t know what eldrich horror you’ve been curb stomping but all of them have been bald mummy’s if they aren’t wearing a suit under that meat abomination. While Isaac is trying to escape from Valor you could also see a sole survivor from there. He can seen briefly before he runs away to the end of the hallway
The one where presumably Chen whispers "its wearing my face" and another one where someone whispers "we're all awake now" are some of the creepier ones
I agree 100%, it's really cool to hear all the variation in sound effects and hallucinations. And then some of the Necromorphs sound really cool/intimidating too :) Sometimes it's almost too scary for me with a headset on 😅
I can't remember if the original Dead Space had little whispers like this that were that clear. I'd have to play through it again to see if I could hear what they say
Damn. They knew their enemy and it still didn't help them. Can't blame em too hard though. Twitchers are hard to put down so I imagine it went pear-shaped the second the first of their number turned.
Yeah, it really puts into perspective how deadly the Necromorphs are when a trained Military ship full of soldiers gets decimated so badly 😮 And yeah, Twitchers seem like one of the most deadly Necromorphs! They are my personal favorite :)
I thought they were horrible soldiers if they couldn't defeat one base necromorph. And side note wasn't Chang the only necromorph on the usm valor? How did the rest of the crew get infected if it was just Chang.
@@The_AT-AT_pilot I think an infector was on board the ship or perhaps the marker signal managed to reanimate the dead bodies, so it makes sense that the soldiers must've gotten overwhelmed due to Chang killing them.
I still considered Valor as the biggest problem of the first game in terms of immersion. I mean - one single engineer cuts hundreds of necromorphs while ship fully-kitted with armed professional solders failed to secure one caged necromorph and let infection spread in just a few minutes. How?
@@shadoweevil The Soldier with a Pulse Rifle, Trained to drill your rounds "Center-Mass" Just so happens across a foe where center-mass is just dead flesh, And you are doomed by your training since its easier to just "Immobilize" Necromorphs with precision severing to their limbs and stasis. Not helping matters is that Necromorphs dealt with the crew in increasingly efficient means once their fallen started rising as twitchers, And by strategic use of their ventilation corridors before they even knew what their enemy even was.
Its the same as how the security team on the ishimura failed. They didn’t account the whole “cutting their limbs off”. And if they were in close proximity to the marker then the rest would be history
@@DepravedMorgath One of the hallucinations were "Target the limbs" showing that they knew what they were facing, but they came underprepared anyway due to The Marker being just recently discovered. Why? We knew that The Marker can reanimate corpses within its vicinity, I read somewhere that there is a morgue on the USM Valor with bodies inside that weren't disposed of. The Marker could have very well reanimated these corpses and due to the fact that none of these soldiers have ever faced a Necromorph before, they'll be overwhelmed by its mobility and durability and combined with the amount of corpses being reanimated, it could have very well be able to compromise the entire vessel. It was simply a coincidence how Chen was able to make it into the communications room and since personnel there aren't armed (as clearly seen in the broadcast) were killed with relative ease. Sure they were trained and were well-equipped, but this was an unprecedented threat suddenly appearing on their ship. They have never seen anything like it before, let alone fighting against one long enough to devise strategies to dispatch them efficiently. And there were probably more than a dozen of them active at the same time and more as soldiers are picked off. So even if they knew to target the limbs, it's still feasible for the entire ship to fall.
They had the Right Idea with Targeting the Limbs, they were just Caught off Guard. Also seems like they Tried to Launch the Nuke as a Last Ditch Effort while they were under Attack. Lots of Subtle Storytelling in this Chapter. Probably one of my Favorite Chapters in the whole Series Honestly.
Great videos to discover all the details of this famous game. I played it on the ps5, and for me dead space is the best horror game ever. I hope, there will be released the remake of dead space 2.
Thank you, I appreciate it :) I played it on PS5 and PC, and it is an amazing game with so many cool details. Dead Space is my favorite horror/game series, and I'm also really hoping they will remake Dead Space 2!
Thank you, that is cool to hear! :) I love Dead Space too, it's my favorite Horror franchise. I've noticed there are so many cool details in the Remake, and I'm really glad to share them with others 😁
This is not on Motive at all mind you, but I always had a hard time believing a couple of the narrative pieces of Dead Space versus what the player does. It is hard for me to believe that one necromorph would have been able to take out the entire Valor's fleet of 67 personnel when Isaac, an engineer untrained in combat encounters, is able to take them out easily with weaker defenses and makeshift weaponry. Even if we assume that Slasher Chen was able to get the drop on them due to his body being inactive until they got closer to the Ishimura and the marker was able to re-active his body, we still have to believe that 67 military personnel, mostly soldiers, were ALL killed by a few necromorphs. Same goes for Dr Kyne and how quickly the bridge turns on him despite them all knowing and agreeing that Captain Mathius was unfit for duty and SAW him jump Kyne leading to his death. They're not big things, but they *do* sort of take me out of the game a bit.
Yeah, I also have had trouble believing those things too when I think about them deeper. Especially with Kyne, and how they instantly declare him a murderer, it just seemed pretty odd or rushed About the USM Valor being taken down though, I started wondering if maybe the soldiers also started to experience hallucinations and insanity from the Marker. If they did, then perhaps they had poor judgement and decision-making skills in the moment. And (in the remake at least) the Marker is documented in a text log as being able to transform bodies into Necromorphs. So if just a few Twitchers were created, I could imagine them easily taking down groups of trained soldiers 🫨 Those are just some random thoughts I had though :)
there are lurkers and such on the valor (which unless the valor has a bioprosthetics center couldnt have come from the valor) which means necromorphs from the ishimura attacked the valor, so it wasnt all chen.
Tbf, the only reason issac didn't die at the start of the game was because he was lucky to be in a separate room from his team when shit went down and had enough time to escape. Then found a mining tools thats good for dismemberment and messages that tells you cutting off the limbs are the method to kill the necromorphs. The valor crew also most likely encountered more than just chen.
Yeah, I always thought that was interesting! :) I doubt he survived much longer though, since the ship was blowing up as Isaac leaves soon after you see him 😵
That's awesome! I feel like the game was really impressive, especially for its time :) Dead Space is my personal favorite horror game series. I really like the enemy designs and gameplay a lot
@@Luce_Anderson Nice, I hope you will enjoy them if you decide to continue with them! :) The 3rd game kind of tones down the horror and shifts to more of an Action-focused game. I think it's still pretty enjoyable though, with some cool ideas too It also has an interesting co-op mode too, for the story, if you happen to have someone else to play it with Dead Space 2 is definitely worth checking out, it blends Action and Horror pretty nicely and is a great continuation of the game 😄
I'm not sure, unless someone knows a way to look at the actual audio files. 😥 I've learned that you can turn down the music and dialogue volumes in-game which helps to make them a bit clearer without the ambient music. But since the hallucinations seem to be tied to the "sound effects" volume, you still get Isaac's breathing and any environmental sound effects at full volume 😵
I understand that they didn't know about necromorphs, but they were soldiers with military training and special suits, and they couldn't kill a single necromorph. 😕😕😕
damn, these show how much Motive wanted this game to feel real, including details like this bring Dead Space to life.

I find it weird actually. Its more of an ‘echo’, as if the Marker recorded the final moments of the USM Valor.
it's like the messages are giving a picture of what happened before isaac was the only survivor to finish the job
Yeah, it really seems that way and it's a pretty cool detail imo :)
