Watched it in theatre way back when. Immediately ordered a copy. Outstanding film
Loved the novel it was based on and thought it was a wonderful adaption. Glad this is being made more broadly available. A film that should not be forgotten.
Great film, cast and story. The 4K I felt was great with indoor scenes and not so much with the outside elements Sound elements weren't anything of note outside of Shotgun blasts that I remember . Great review

Sam Raimi shouldve been nominated for this movie. It shows how serious he can be as a filmmaker. Its almost like a Coen Brother stylized drama / comedy

Great review Adam. I've always really liked this underrated and overlooked gem. Paxton was soooo great. He is sorely missed. :( Adam, are you gonna review the new 'Must Love Dogs' release? Love that underrated comedy starring Diane Lane and John Cusack.
If it were in 4K I might have, I just focus on that format on my channel.

Great review. I really love the cover artwork for this one from Arrow. Does it come with a booklet?
At 0:26 we can briefly see that there does appear to be an included booklets (although Adam does generally display any included booklets BETTER than he did here).
The Arrow website does further provide: "Illustrated collectors' booklet featuring new writing on the film by Bilge Ebiri and an excerpt from the book The Unseen Force: The Films of Sam Raimi by John Kenneth Muir."

I just got the standard Blu-ray of this the other day and am more than happy with it. The picture looks great, except for that one shot where they get out of the truck to find the fox.
This did actually come out on Blu-ray overseas at some point, I think around 2012, but it's only slightly better than the DVD.
Picked mine up at Barnes and Noble today. Outstanding movie and time to get rid of that horrid dvd copy lol.
why does arrow video use those thick ass cases, even for a single disc release?
Briefly compared it to 1080p bluray. It has a little extended shot when Paxton first enters his house after taking off his shoes. Haven't checked the rest of the movie to see what else was added.
The problem with the 4K transfers are they artificially increase and adjust the contrast, saturation, filters etc to make the HDR/DV look right. This means that snow looks dim and blue. Any type of bright scene is knocked down to much darker. Faces look like they have tans with red or pinkish oversaturated hues. While some scenes do look better, other scenes look worse. Clarity is obviously improved but its still fairly grainy to get that extra resolution. A lot of the time its not worth it.
Honestly you could change the settings on your TV with the 1080p bluray to get a very similar look of the 4K version without the grain.
