Was really fun making this video with you! :D
    mini faq (last updated: 8/26/2021):
SKIN IS NOW LINKED IN THE DESCRIPTION ASWELL!!!
what maps do I play after the '3 runs at the start'?:
this training is an addition to your osu routine, 3 runs at the start then play whatever you want, 3 runs at the end after you finished
this does not replace your session!!! - it adds onto it
I can FC 170BPM (or any BPM) with 95 acc but not the lower BPM ones like 140-160, should I still go back to the start?:
yes, it gives you better finger control which is always a plus
when you say 'at the start', is that before warmup or after proper warmup?:
it doesn't matter, you can warm up with streams or you can play other maps before. I like to start playing 1 or 2 low ar maps to get my reading warm first.

I like how you mentioned aim at the start. Flow aim is literally just as important as accuracy and is often underplayed by the community. "stream players don't need aim LOL" is dumb. I'm not all the way through the video yet but one part of stamina often not thought of is that part of stamina is mental. It is much easier to stream forever with a relaxed hand and it's very hard to remain relaxed once your nerves start taking control.

I naturally chose a similar approach to khz when I decided to work on stamina, with 1 major difference, I fced the 150 BPM and 160BPM deathstream map, but when I moved up to 170, I didnt bother to FC, I just practiced the BPM until 400 Circles then moved up 10BPM and repeated. I started working on this on the 12.6 (yes I'm taking notes to have objective numbers for improvement, since I want to make sure there is an upward trend), so roughly 2 months since I started grinding and I'm now in the process of grinding 210BPM to 300, currently at holding it for 200 Notes. My starting point was basically being able to fc the 150BPM map within a few days, since I wasn't completely new, few days afterwards the 160BPM FC, to give a bit more accurate representation of progress/time. I also only grinded every 2nd day, to give hands time to rest and I never started with the stamina grind like khz recommended, I always first did a warmup and chose a gradual increase of intensity before I grinded for stamina seriously on a higher BPM.
For anyone still reading, do note that there are 2 interesting things that you can expect to encounter during stamina grinding. 1 of them is floor BPM, being the lowest speed you can fall to even when tired, it moves up slowly, it used to be 150BPM for me, hence i was able to fc it basically instantly and it quickly moved to 160. Your fingers will feel super tired and hard to move, but could keep going anyways, they'd never slow down more than it. Now that is 180BPM for me, meaning 180BPM is kinda infinite. I do not know if it is safe to stream with that sensation for long tho, since it is pretty extreme fatigue and I never risked it, but it exists and can be useful to know about.
The 2nd thing is stamina variance. From what I have experienced, the most impactful thing besides rng / good lifestyle choices, is a good warmup. It takes A LOT of time to warm your stamina up to peak level. Never judge your stamina or speed based on how you're doing during the first 1-2 hours (or more) and dont lose heart if your stamina looks terrible during it! Properly warming up your hands requires a lot of streaming (pushing yourself) and brief resting to get your fingers to move properly. When you're properly warmed up, your fingers will move smoothly and lightly, as if you don't really need to put any force into moving them. It's an incredibly rewarding sensation. When you reach that state, it's time to set some benchmark scores and push your stamina limits and maybe have some fun with it. I also highly recommend picking some maps as goals. In my case, one of the personal goals for maps I wanted to be able to play without running out of stamina and that helped me stay motivated, was the 185BPM Himiko from one of the stamina practice mapsets. Getting closer and closer to the end of it until lasting through the entire map was suddenly a breeze.
    Anyways, good luck fellow grinders.

400 Circles makes sense as there probly won't be anything more than that for most maps that have deathstreams in them, but how does it affect your overall stamina when you keep going up in bpm's compared to doing 1-2k circles for each step ? or will you still achieve inf stamina for lower bpm stuffs even by not going for fc each step ? sounds kinda as if its to rush speed and then stamina will just come for free along with that. I might just do it this way as well tbh

As a crappy 6 digit i've been following this guide since May and have gotten a lot faster and my stamina has actually increased. Right now i'm trying to break the 180bpm barrier (my best is a 91% FC). Although i still lack consistency, i can pass or at least play maps that would've been impossible 3-4 months ago, so i can say that this method works.

    TLDR:
i HIGHLY reccommend trying these tips out especially with DeathStreams. its gonna suck at first though.
i know this is a year old but i just wanted to add a comment for the newcomers or anyone else watching this video, i did the deathstream practice only 2 times before my session of gameplay (for 1hr) my acc was 50%+ both times, But it really helped warm up my tapping fingers SIGNIFICANTLY during my gameplay! then at the end of my session i did the DS practice another 2 times and the first time i did it (in end of session) i only missed 14 notes, acc 80%+ (in a 4min song) and the 2nd round i missed more but my combo was higher acc 74%+.
and this was the first time doing this myself!
EDIT: DO NOT FORGET ABOUT THE CLIPPED NAILS BUFF! believe it or not it makes a MASSIVE difference lmao

As someone who is very into the improvement of mechanical skills in everything basically, it's important to remember that the improvement happens when you're resting. Muscles recover and adapt in that time, your brain begins to create grooves to acomodate muscle memory, and your mouse/pen control improves.

  • @wave266

Just want to share my experience on using this method,
So like my streaming stamina sucks ass, like I only have stamina for ~175, and I'm ranked 3k, which really sucks having a low ability in streaming when my friends who are low ranker than me 100% streams better than me.
But after doing this method, although it's still not stable in UR but I noticed that I now have stamina for 190-200 and 210- 220 is my max with only like 20 notes, which doesn't make fucking sense because I only did it for a total of 1 week. Well I did try to improve my streaming ability before but it only helped a little but not as effective as this.
Also before this my comfortable burst speed was 240 now I can go 260. Idk if it really helps but my keyboard switch is cherry blacks, using it for almost 3 months now.
I think what's generally important is having the mindset on wanting to improve, of course putting the effort on trying to improve is also important but having a positive mindset is the key. Before this, I tend to think that "oh I suck at streaming and I can't seem to improve, this is probably my skill cap in streaming", don't do that, because I thought about that for almost 2 years, in 2 years my stream speed didn't improve that much. It only went up from 160 to 170.
TL;DR : this method fucking works and I'm thankful that I tried it.

Varvalian often mentionned in one of his streams that he used to play that one 150bpm stream practice map until he could SS it, and then would move on to do it with DT, and that's how he could get that stamina (at least as a starting point)

    Pain is a warning signal
Strain is simply a result of your body being worked hard

    • @agaed7676
      @agaed7676 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In terms of science
Strain usually comes as a result of acids being produced by your muscles when they don’t have enough energy necessary for a task and finding other ways to produce energy
Pain is your nerves warning you that something is either broken or breaking in your body (I’m not as well versed in this) by sending electrical signals through your brain. Pain is usually very sharp and noticeable because of it being electrical signals whereas strain tends to gradually increase until it eventually becomes noticeable.

I've been practicing streams on and off since I hit 5 digits and I feel like I can stream 200-210 bpm comfortably, even though my fcs on their respective "long stream practice maps" is only around 80-90% acc. My fingers go into a different kind of mode when I play extremely long streams, which maximizes stamina over anything and everything. I can stream for reasonable amounts of time (60~ seconds of 200bpm) with perfect accuracy but after that I have to go into stamina conservation mode. I find this really interesting.

i just wanted to say that the introduction of long stream maps has been really influential in my progress as a player (im a 70k player now and finally fced bird sprite!). I don't do what khz does cuz im tired of reading docs, so i made my own routine to build speed and stamina to not get bored with just playing long stream practice maps since it can cause burnout if done much and I wanted to explore other skillsets like aim and higher ar reading. So this is my routine:
    1. Do wrist warmup exercises both by Dr. Levi Harrison and Tykato Fitness
    2. Play 4* and some 5* maps with bursts (I usually play night of knight's kotori diff, Wings nu logic, and near distant future)
    3. When tired or exhausted drink water, then rinse and repeat 2 & 3 until i feel if my hand is good for deathstreaming
    4. If I feel that my hand is good, do 3 sets of long stream practice maps with 10 mins intervals of rest. (i have tried spamming 10 sets of long stream practice maps with 5 mins interval of rest for months and it caused some concerning injuries).
Note: It is not about the frequency but it would be how smart you are to optimize these long stream practice maps and I've found that 3 sets is good for my body.
    5. Play hr (not hdhr) on 4* lobbies (i've found out that my tapping becomes faster when i associate myself with faster ARs)
    6. Play hddt and practice some ar 10.3 on single player, and i usually just rinse and repeat 5 & 6 until i feel fatigued (not hurt but strained).
I have once calculated my total time for my routine and it's like about 5-7 hours of osu, so i guess it's pretty nice?
Edit: btw im currently at 150 bpm 93% fc and can consistently hit 90% A fc on 150 bpm, it's working i guess?

Back when i started learning streams I also mostly used these weird stream prac maps, although instead of the boring "square pattern stream" maps i usually looked for some that just have known stream maps compiled into a long marathon map, because i also wanted to learn the aiming / movement part (streams getting faster/more spaced basicially and changing shapes/path) instead of just one continous pattern.
Ahough i usually prefer warming up before doing streams myself (or rather before stream praccing), because jumping directly into stream prac with ice cold fingers usually doesnt work well for me, unless i like having hand pain after a few minutes lol

Ngl his 3 times before and after the session routine works wonders even on different skillsets.
I've been unintentionally doing something similar to improve at DT and I used 7-8 star jump maps to train aim or alternating (what I lacked wasn't the aim itself but really getting comfortable with alting higher bpm jumps without having to read anything above AR 10) and looked for higher AR maps later to focus on actually learning to read 10.3+.
It was really just about finding the right maps to help me improve.
Haven't been doing this for a long time but it definitely works for me, A LOT.
Having a DT skin helps too.
I still need to improve my acc by a lot but I can at least Fc a lot of stuff I couldn't before even with shit acc.
OH YEAH PRACTICE DIFFS ARE GODLIKE if you have a map you really like do it.
NOW when it comes to streaming anything that's above 190 I'm inconsistent as hell so I'll still try his method.
I wouldn't say that I can't stream, but I definitely would struggle to get 250pp if I had to pick a stream map to get it.
Time to get a bit more well rounded (who knows might help with my main skillset).

To gain stamina, I try to make my fingers as calm and relaxed as possible, because you tend to force a lot on your fingers and it just slows you down for no reason. It's not easy to do it though.

as a high level mania player, i can gladly say i dont disagree with anything said here, which makes me happy. mania is basically all about how fast you can jack and trill (single tap and alternate in osu! terms) so a lot of these principle apply the same way. great video.

I'm just in the process of improving my stamina. What I do is to have stream-oriented maps in my osu!warmup collection, next to tech and jumps. Then sometimes I'd go over to my "FC this before Big Black" collection and play the latest difficulty of Aiae.

Well... getting into 140 BPM at first was pretty weird and after doing maps at the start i had about 80% acc, after couple days i got into 96-99% FC so i went into 150 BPM and litterally first attempt 98% FC... Idk if thats the finger control you get from that practice or what but somehow it went good... Also i see that my stamina is improving since 150 BPM at first hand hurt me in a good way ofc, but now i feel i can go for ages.

  • @adumbledoor394
    @adumbledoor394 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I'd recommend to avoid jumping right into 140BPM when it comes to long stream practice maps. Take advantage of the massive amount of different BPM the DigitalHypno mapsets provide and begin with the lowest, 100BPM. Starting with very low BPM is incredible finger control training since most will be able to stream higher BPM (in terms of speed, not finger control necessarily) than that once they have mastered the basics of bursts and short streams in 3* maps, so low BPM requires you to pay attention to your technique. Fundamentals are everything in Osu! Not taking the time to put in the effort to build proper fundamentals will result in bad habits, and many will eventually hit a skill wall and get frustrated.
Even if you think you can already stream 100BPM and don't need to start there, proof it to yourself and play the maps. If you truly are skilled enough to move on to a higher BPM, then you will FC 100 BPM in no time. But if you can't FC 100BPM, you aren't ready for anything higher than that. Assuming you're ready for higher BPM is NOT knowing, but if you play the lower BPM maps, you will truly understand your skill level.
Start with 100BPM and gradually work yourself up. Don't skip a BPM step.

obviously first thing i've done was instantly launching osu and play that 140BPM despite myself being a #19k stream main and oh god i've never thought i'd strain so much on that. got 94 acc instantly, then 95 and now 98, i can move on according to this vid. but i can confirm that increasing deathstreaming speed increases other speeds so much it's unimaginable, my best was when i could stream 200 comfortably, kinda rusty atm

Its so hard at first lmfao, first day i cannot hold combos at all, 50-60% acc finished with no fail, after 4 days of practicing im currently at 140 bpm fcing without never fail at 85+ acc , my best is 89% for now , im improving rapidly,
One downside which is prob obvious is ur momentum will decrease so u will need to play burst maps to make it higher to ur usual bpm , or play fast maps till ur hands get used to them again, playing low ar maps for a while will legit force ur brain to think slower as well as the movement of ur finger will decrease, this method has to be brute forced into ur brain and u will feel its natural to do that in a while, this guide is highly related to tonnehh's low ar video regarding finger locking and low acc problems
