- In this video, I'm reviewing the brand new Sea Eagle EZLite 10. The EZ Lite 10 was designed with the idea of creating an inflatable kayak that performs like a hardshell kayak, but weighs half as much, and fits in the trunk of any car. It's made with all drop-stitch construction, and features a unique V-hull shape - the first of its kind on a Sea Eagle inflatable kayak!

Video EZLite vs 393rl Please! THANKS!! You have the Best kayak reviews on TH-cam!!!
Easy choice : Any 393-like model :)
Thanks for another great review! I have 2 Explorers, a couple of months ago I bought the Explorer 300, and right after this one came out! I was a little annoyed because if this one was available then, I would definitely picket it up instead for my solo days. I love the Explorers, but sometimes I want easier and lighter. I wish SeaEagle would just sell the kayaks without having to get any more of the other stuff, I don’t need more paddles, or seats, or pumps. It should be an option to get just the boat and not the package.
Bought two the week it came out, enjoying them very much. My wife and I are, uh, not the lightest of people.. This kayak holds its shape and preforms well. Having to do setup each time is a bummer but its nice that I can carry one in each hand to the water. I have an electric pump and I feel I could probably pack up one faster then it takes to inflate.
I just got the NRS Pike for a travel kayak. It blew away my expectations on the water. Really made me rethink inflatables. This might be a great option for my non fishing wife. Was going to get a Crescent Ultra lite but I'm really liking the inflatable after using it.
Wow, what a great review. Having never touched a kayak before and suddenly wanting/needing one.. I am thrilled to have found this video! I have a smaller SUV without a hitch, without a roof mount and no room to store a trailer - so an inflatable kayak is the way to go. I just want to relax on the lake so speed, big waves and rapids are not desired. This looks like the perfect kayak - I will get the motor version for that added insurance of not getting stuck somewhere. Thanks for this video. Cheers.
Wouldn't mind knowing what you think about this kayak if you do purchase it.
Love my Sea Eagle 385FT👍
Good to know!
Looks like a great kayak for many people that want to spend extra on a good inflatable and that stick with flat water. I have 3 Sea Eagles 370, 330x, and 380x. The SE370 has been sitting in its bag since we got two Explorer series, but I took the SE370 on the Nanty (class II and one/two class III rapids) and it was really fun however I had to bail some water out two or three times. The Explorer series is great for people who want a inflatable that can do flat water and whitewater, but are willing to heft a few more pounds around.
Ken, always great reviews you provide. Thank you. Please review Wilderness Systems iAtak 110 and compare to Sea Eagle boats and NRS inflatables.
Just saw the iATAK for the first time. Interesting looking boat for sure! I'm looking forward to testing it.
Always enjoy your videos, Ken! Still want to do a paddle with you sometime. Get in contact with me - I'm over near Belleville...
Cool video question for you Ken would you ever take an inflatable kayak to Algonquin...your thoughts
OMG Ken you won't believe this but I saw the EZLite a few days ago on their site and I was going to send you an email to see if you would review it because I thought it looked awesome and was thinking about getting one. Now I still love the PakAyaK however, I thought this would be great just for them hot day's when it's more of a relaxing time on the water. Fantastic review Ken.
One quick question someone said you can stand up in it, would you agree ?
Can you please compare to the 393RL? How much, if any, performance do you give up, etc?
By the looks of it the EZLite has MUCH lower sides, and a nose that almost points down. I imagine it will take on a lot of water in anything but perfectly still water.
I think the EZLite will be much more stable due to it's wide birth. Although I imagine this will make it a fair bit slower than the 393rl. I own a 393rl btw (which I'm beyond happy with). Love to see Sea Eagle coming out with new models though.
Not for me but great for people who don't have the space for storage . My friend just picked up an inflatable he seems to love it.
Two questions: Is is easy to dry out before folding and putting away? 2: Can you self rescue in deep water if you were to capsize for some reason? Thanks.
I adore my Sea Eagle 393rl. My only issue is how difficult it can be to remove the foot pegs (I've mostly fixed that by filing down the aluminum rods). So i was very curious to see how they've improved the foot pegs on this model, and it looks great. Hope they refresh the 393rl to have the same pegs.
I agree! The new foot pegs are a huge upgrade... same foot peg, but MUCH easier to install.
Wow, this is great for the RV world. A little lighter than the 393rl.
There is a sponge-like material on the chamber floor to protect it from scratches. Will it absorb water if it gets wet? If so, how long will it take to fully dry before I can pack it up? I dislike inflatable kayaks covered with fabric because water always penetrates through the fabric, and it takes at least two days to dry before I can store it. I do not have a backyard at home, so it will occupy my dining room space for a long time every time I use it.
i was wondering, can you get fitnord seal kayaks in Canada. Because i would like to see your opinion on them.
I bought this kayak and love it! What electric pump are you using?
Sea Eagle tells you to only use the auto stop pump on their site. It’s not a major investment but it saves a ton of time and energy. I can get all the rest of my gear together while the kayak is inflating.
I also wondered what cordless electric pump he's using in this video. Anyone know?
@@arthurcheng5338 The BP auto stop pump on the Sea Eagle site is what they recommend. I usually set it a little under max pressure and it stops right there.
Splaying the legs is the same issue I have, I'm long leg and the footrest I have is bad on the AG cirrus, its centered so I have to dig my heel to the middle with no option to rest my feet toward the edge. COnsidering gluing/velcroing a foot peg system. This sea eagle looks so nice for cruising 😭telling myself not to look at any other yaks till I'm ready for a skill upgrade.
- NRS PVC Footpegs
or
- SeaEagle FlexBrace Kit or this new version when it becomes available...
And some dual component PVC glue and you are ready for that upgrade! ;)
@@GTN355 Good upgrade ahead. I saw the Flexbrace on Sea Eagles site and now the 2.0 version I’ll keep an eye out for. I’ll look up the NRS version now, thanks!
Be an informed buyer; there are SeaEagle models with no drains, or a few drains that don't auto bail, or a few auto bailing drains, or a bunch of large rapid auto bailers. For the low sidewall issue, strong swimmers in calm water may consider laying a life vest under their legs with the front pads splayed out to support outside of legs.
If you want something to support your legs then there are better solutions available like the Jackson Kayaks Happy Seat Magnum which you can adjust by inflating/deflating it :)
Can you talk about comparison of this with airvolution sport 10?
Looks like they took the Airvolution/Ottawa/Sandbanks design and put their own spin on it. Looks pretty neat and seems fairly well thought out. Huge plus for the proper footpegs, most inflatables either don't bother with figuring out how to add proper footpegs to their design or have their own solutions that are almost always utterly useless.
Those Sandbanks Style kayaks look like the right models for the right price! :)
IMHO worth every penny! And a review !!!
Can you stand up and paddleboard this kayak? How do you think it would do if it hit an oyster bed by accident in it? Is it good against wind and current?
Ken, a few of questions, if i may. Are you at all bothered by the fact that this has only 2 air chambers instead of the typical 3 you see on other Sea Eagles ?? Do you think it would be possible to add Scotty glue on mounting pads ?? How precarious would it be to take it through a short/moderate Class II rapid ?? Finally, is it fisherman friendly ?? Thanks !!
I would look into other models, because to drain this thing you would have to flip it upside down each time and I can tell you from experience that it can be really annoying once you head home after a long paddle... :(
Look for dropstitch models with at least 1 or 2 drainage holes at the bottom of the floor!
Million dollar question Ken. I have the Sea Eagle Razorlite and after watching your video, I think I like mine better than this model. How would you compare the two? I also own an Explorer but it’s a much different boat.
All the 393-like models from any brand are IMHO waaaay better than this pooltoy that's just waaay too wide and doesn't drain easily !!!
Good question! The 393rl is significantly faster than the EZ Lite. But, the EZ Lite is significantly more stable. And so, if you want more stability and are willing to give up the speed of the 393rl for it, then the EZ Lite would be a good swap. Otherwise, stick with the 393rl!
@@PaddleTV Thank you for replying. I’m going to stick with the Razorlite. My goal is to put some real miles on it this summer.
What height range would you suggest for the 10?
@@redmaister9909 Unless you’re super tall the 10 is fine for most people. The larger question is what type of water you’ll be paddling and how long you will be going as well as skill level.
Ordered mine a couple weeks ago but it's not arriving until mid to end of July 😢
The Advanced Elements Advance Frame Sport (my first kayak) is similar in length, weight and cockpit size, and it performs reasonably well especially with the optional backbone attachment. It's not drop stitch, and it's not nearly as sleek as this Sea Eagle. The Sport sells for $399 on Amazon including a pump (no paddle). The bag is not a backpack. A small skeg is not detachable. It has no foot pegs, but AE sells an inflatable foot brace that slides into the cockpit for another $30. [I don't have it.] The backbone is another $80, so the price is closer to $600 fully equipped. Overall, the Sea Eagle seems well worth a few hundred more, but if you're in the market for this type of kayak, the Sport is worth a look.
I always carry a bilge pump even on calm water. Why not?
Advanced Elements Advance Frame Sport = Is that one of the models with the protective skin on the outside that dries very slowly ?
If so : That's a big NOPE for everyone who has no space to leave it to dry outside !!
@@GTN355 i've never had a problem with it drying slowly, but it does have a fabric skin.
Not keen on the colours myself....personal choice I guess 😂
1 maybe
Good to fish out of it?
Darn, no drain plugs!!!
Very nice kayak, but not for me. More like a toy. Small. I love barges. I'll keep my SE-380X. Capacity! Two-seater. Did solo numerous class II rapids, several class III, plan to do some class IV this year. Bounced of head-on walls, rolled over rock bars - no damage. Tried it on a lake against a strong wind. With skeg (fin) and drainages open - no turning or wiggling.
Unless you have added another skeg at the front it will wiggle from left to right a couple of inches during paddling : All similar inflatables do with the skeg at the back!
Another overpriced Sea Eagle model... Too bad! :(
The first generation of FlexBrace footpegs use to have broken clip-ons on the back of them where you would store the metal shaft that's now easier to insert : Have they done anything about that ?!
Mine got broken pretty much immediately when I used them for the first time after buying them for my AirCanoe Cruiser 393S and basically have the Sea Eagle RazorLite 393RL for 50% LESS !!!
Aren't there any similar models available over there in the U.S.A. or Canada ??
You reviewed the Aqua Marina Tomahawk in the past and they have single seaters too : How about reviewing one of those ?
No bungees on them, but then again the Sea Eagle RazorLite 393RL doesn't have them either... LOL!
And for footpegs you could add the NRS PVC Footpegs or these new Sea Eagle FlexBrace2 when they become available as a seperate kit just like the old ones :)
I personally don't agree about any of the Sea Eagle kayaks being overpriced. I think they're all solid value. You can always get cheaper stuff, but you get what you pay for. And no... I'm not being paid to say that. :)
Not sure what you mean about the FlexBrace system. And so, I'm guessing that's a much older system that has been revised.
The Tomahawk solo kayak is on my list to test... a list that doesn't seem to be getting any shorter. :)
@@PaddleTV All those 393 models are made in one of the 4 factories in South Korea and China so in the end it's all the same IMHO ;)
Test the AirCanoe Cruiser 393S if you can get your hands on it and see for yourself.
Or the Star ones...
Or the Verano ones...
And so on...
The footpegs in the Sea Eagle RazorLite 393RL are the so called FlexBrake Kit and are also available on their 473/480/490 tandem models of which there is a long term video by some lady explaining the issue I am talking about : You can't store the metal shaft on the back of them at some point because the clips break very easily!
I hope they improved that on this 2nd generation that also seems to mount a lot easier onto the kayak now...
Not for white water,no fun
Last inflatable kayak i used started to deflate in the middle of the lake, will never buy one
You must’ve bought something cheap. I bought a sea eagle explorer last year and the Razorlite this year. I took it on some big lakes like Sunapee and First Connecticut and it had no issue handling big wind driven chop.
Bet it wasn't dropstitch...
Even when one valve started leaking on me the kayak was useable for at least 7 days !!!
Quality inflatable kayaks are as durable or more durable than most hardshells. They’re used for everything from whitewater to military applications.
I’ve had my Airvolution over rocks, log-snags, and everything the Northern Canadian backcountry can throw at it, and it doesn’t have a scratch.
It can stay afloat even if the bottom chamber is punctured (which would only happen with an impact that would crush most hardshells).
That’s not to say it’s all about IK’s - hardshells have their benefits. They’re generally faster and more efficient, and easier to fall out of. 😎
