Oh no! The schematic is easy to find. it's listed as Service Notes. If the damage is just limited to the pads touching the cap then you should be in good shape as they're pretty simple. But I did have some corrosion that ate at an adjacent cap. It killed the cap, but the pads were fine.
Do you recall which capacitors specifically had the issue? I've got one with a similarly wonky screen, but the rapid power cycling trick that seems to work for so many doesn't help with mine, and I can't see any obvious issues with the capacitors or anything else, and I've already replaced the battery. I've seen someone else mention 3 surface-mount capacitors having issue but nobody's pointed out which ones specifically
There's only three SMD caps inside the machine and they're probably all bad. I have a page for it in caps.wiki that has all the information. caps.wiki/wiki/Boss_DR-660 Here's a link to the stream where we worked on it. There's indexes to skip around. th-cam.com/video/LLlGQOlg66Y/w-d-xo.html
@@SydHeresy ah, thank you so much! i thought the SMD caps were the super teeny tiny little brown rectangular ones. that link is extremely helpful, this might be just what i need
This is a big issue with the dr-660’s. I would have suggested making a replacement video for it because this has been a discussion for years. I may take your findings and post it to see if it works if you don’t do it.
@ oh I just saw that you put the long stream link in the description. Apologies! I’m going to try it because I have three 660s I put to the side with this same issue.
Hot tips, not just because of soldering!
So much heat!
Mines dead too so 100% thanks for this!
Oh boyyy, just opened mine up and the cap on C23 seems to have exploded 😮
Oh boy x3! all the electo caps have crapped out and ruined all but one solder pad 😅time to find the schematic and see if I can’t work something out

Please do! I’m have a link to the stream where we did the whole troubleshooting and replacing if you want to see the whole thing I’m long-form.
