Not really. It does however fit the criteria of a syndrome - "a group of symptoms which consistently occur together, or a condition characterized by a set of associated symptoms."
Personally, I think it's important to differentiate chronological aging and senescence. Using the term senescence is, in my opinion, much more effective in talking about the field to the general public than the term aging, because by using the term senéscence, we put aside any reference to chronological age and the benefit it offers (wisdom / experience / skills) to focus only on the biological aspect. Secondly, in people's heads the term senescence is largely unknown and sounds more like pathological, I noticed this when I was talking about the subject to people around me, using the term aging, they didn't take the subject seriously , but by using the term senescence, they were more interesting , curious, and even went so far as to ask me about the causes and potential treatments. And of course, by focusing on healthy lifespan and the prevention of all diseases, and not on total lifespan, one conveys a much more positive view of the field, because no one wants to live 150 years if that means spending 70 years in poor health. And that means banishing utopian terms such as immortality / eternal life / going back in time ... The media, instead of talking about immortality, should talk about negligible senescence, as that is the goal of the domain (although this is a long-term goal) and is far more objective than the term immortality (which is unrealistic and rather religious).
Thank you for giving me a raste of reversing the aging process to ecperience my youth. The youth i feel i missed out on the first time around. I hope to see you again very soon: literally,. ASAP after i have these evil cataracts removed.🤗 .
Its been 12 years since I attempted to have a rational conversation with a medical Doctor who told be he thought that people who believe in stem cell therapy should be shot. Now age 70 I would like to have some tests done and hope things have changed by now.
I’ve had numerous PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) treatments to stimulate the stem cells at his Center. The first was for plantar fasciitis then, arthritis in my knees, a vampire facial and pelvic floor rejuvenation (aka “O shot” in certain circles).
David Sinclar recently talked about a study on his podcast that reduced the biological age of subjects with use of growth hormone, metformin and DHEA.. perhaps you'd be interested in checking out that video. His podcast is fairly new on youtube, just search his name
I would suggest before you even consider going down the route of medical intervention to actually ensure that you have your diet and lifestyle optimized to the best level of knowledge. Some supplements and medicines are benign but some do have a price to be paid but may be necessary in some situations. Getting a series of medical tests should be a persons first actions.
I know, right? He just had another birthday early this month so he may have been 75 years last fall and I understood that he is now 76 years old. I went to his Wellness Center for over 6 years. I recommend his books and his therapies.
All humans do better on a well balanced diet consisting of plants only. Within that parameter you can vary the macro- and micronutrients to individual needs.
Blatantly untrue. Many people have done poorly on a diverse plant based diet. Also, you may be confusing 'longevity' for 'health'. Not remotely the same thing
@@lolcano2346 People that do poorly on plant diets have some kind of gut dysbiosis, or they are doing something extreme. What is needed is a varied whole plant foods diet with minimal processing and with preferably a mix of cooked and raw foods. And you are not likely to have longevity without health. You can choose to have a degree of health without longevity, but you can also choose to have both health and longevity.
@@bighands69 They can have a good degree of health with the mixture, and even very close to optimal health with a mixture, but only if the animal foods are less than 5% of calories. They can definitely not have long term health on meat only.
So is aging a disease after all?
For sure, and very cruel one....
Not really. It does however fit the criteria of a syndrome - "a group of symptoms which consistently occur together, or a condition characterized by a set of associated symptoms."
Grossman and Kurzweil's 2005 book, Live Long Enough to Live Forever, had a big impact on my desire to get into aging research.
same for me .. also traveled from Switzerland to US for 2x visits to Terry .... the book was Fantastic Voyage
Glad I found your practice, Dr. Grossman.
Another banger from the lovely Elena Milova!
Live Long Enough to Live Forever.
Plus I like the music logo at the end.
Worth a watch.
Very interesting interview!
Great job, Elena!
Interesting interview. Thanks!

The problem with that is most people are not aware of the term senescence.
Excellent interview questions!!

Please hurry up with the research. How can we accelerate funding?

I have had nothing but terrible experiences with doctors concerning many health related topics

I hear talk of hormones here now that I'm almost 54 I'm starting to take interest in DHEA and it is within my budget any thoughts or links or videos?

Just go see Dr. Terry Grossman. You’ll be ahead of the game by reading his books first. I heard a rumor he might be planning to retire so don’t wait!

Wait.. is Dr Terry 74 years old? He looks much younger.
Interesting, right? :)

Definitely not true. People can be healthy on meat only diets, veg only diets or a mixture of the two.
