I picked this up today. Definitely a fan. Your criticisms are definitely valid. I definitely think I like their first one more but after numerous plays we will see.
What do you think of Nader Sadek’s Into the Flesh? Basically same line up as Vltimus but Steve Tucker instead of David Vincent on the microphone. Vintage Morbid Angel will always be my absolute favorite but I feel Tucker’s vocals are better now at these stages in their careers.
Also check out Malefic Throne which is kind of another super group with Tucker and Gene from Angel Corpse fame.

Blasphemer is the star of this band for sure, everything else is just OK to my ears. Great review🤘🏼

It has elements of ass kicking for sure. As mentioned in the review, David’s performance was a challenge for me. Thanks for watching!

This album doesn't do much for me. Some of the vocal parts are really silly and the speed has been dialed back too much for me. I'll stick with the first album. That was bad ass.

    Interesting review
    I was not as keen
    I’d give it probably 3.5/5
If I’d make one suggestion the team have a common scoring system.
So that it gives a better idea, because calling an album solid. Solid to me is maybe 3 or 3.5 out of 5

Man, I just can't get into Vincent's vocals on these 2 Vltimas albums. Great riffs though... I actually kinda dig his vocals on the Insanus album, but on these 2 albums they're annoying as shit! Covenant has my favorite death metal vocals of all time, ferocious!!

He's trying a bit too hard it seems. Or struggling. I can't tell which answer applies here. He does dig in to his old pipes on some of the tracks. Thanks for watching.

Good...though forgiving review. I recall you insulting David Vincent's woah woah woah "crooning" on "Where the Slime Live" and this album is almost entirely in that embarrassing style, except for the parts that sound like constipated Frankenstein or caveman aneurysms. Blasphemer has done much, much better. I bought it, spun it once, and put it in a drawer, but doubt I will ever turn the corner on those awful vocals.
And really, the album title "Epic" is inappropriate for poppy, faux extreme music...and about as creative as calling it "Album." The previous Ultimas release was a bit better. Why listen to this when we all possess Invincible Shield(s)? Even the new Saxon album is more worthwhile.

For some strange reason, this album left me cold and indifferent. I prefer the RUIM album any day of the week. The only good thing about this album is that it prompted me to dig out my 'Altars of Madness' copy, thus remembering David Vincent in his prime...

I felt that way initially as well. t took me quite a few spins to warm up to it. I liked the music straight away, but David's vocals took me a minute to process. Thanks for watching.

I loved the first album. This is just too toned down for me now and the vocals are strange and I'm a jaded old bstard 😂

You're our jaded old bastard! haha. This new one had to grow on me a bit. I'm sure I'll end up with the album eventually, but I'm not rushing out to buy it. Cheers Mike.
