    He is truly passionate about his music, as well he should be to be such a talented man. He's not a "diva" or full of himself. I didn't hear him talking "me, me, me" in this interview at all, which is wonderful!

    Great interview. The man is such a craftsman-was always a driving force of the music-not just a frontman. A huge difference between those who just interpret a song, and those who are complete, well-rounded musicians who can also CRAFT the song. Steve is the complete package-one reason I believe that his performances are so mezmerizing. He has literally participated in birthing the music from the inception of the first note on paper to the time it leaves his mouth with all the attached emotion.

    I like what he is saying about the internet and getting music to people. This guy just loves music, wants people to hear it, loves performing - he seems very down-to-earth. I've been a fan for 30 years - steve and journey are just classic & timeless!

    Thank you ever so much, Cindy! What is wonderful is how love of music can transcend geography, language, age, and can bring us all together. Love seeing the diverse groups of people who love what Perry has given to the world. Be well, and thank you for your kind words.

    When they discussed "Open Arms" (Behind the Music updated DVD?) I'll never forget Neal's comment about it. "Yeah, but what am I gonna do with it?" I, me, me, me, I, I, I....

    Absolutely brilliant synopsis. He feels and conveys the emotion of the songs through his singing, because he created the songs. I do believe this is the most accurate statement I've ever read regarding Mr. Perry's ability to interpret the lyrics. Well said gluchnurse. :)

    I'm not sure if it was contractual litigation or not, I think it became more because of his broken hip and his apprehensiveness for surgery. Took him 2 years to get it done, at the release of their new album when they were to go on tour. He decided his health was more important. Contracts may have become involved, but Journey still gives SP credit for the music, and it was an amicable split, from what I understand.

    Steve was out with hip problems, you would think they could of been patient. Seeing how he was the one who put Journey on the map. The one who made them succuessful. No Steve was not fired, but when Jon called him up and told him that they were interviewing new singers, looking for a new front man. What choice did he have! I would of been pissed. Even so Steve is a good guy. You never hear him say anything bad about the guys. Not like NEAL who said So F him to Steve in GQ mag.

    Well said gluchnurse...
    Overall, there is no comparison or debate about it... Steve Perry was and still is "The Voice of Journey". Nothing anyone says will change that. Putting any frontman in the place of SP, not the same. You have awesome points which hold true... Listening to this interview, Steve Perry himself reterates your statements...
    PEACE

    Journey is nothing without Steve. Period. Whatever they call themselves, they are not Journey without Steve. He knows it and they know it. Neal just wanted to go make some money anyway he could.

  • @merrypeary
    @merrypeary 15 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    To what? To Journey. He needed time to do reasearch into prosthetics for hip replacement. Neal Schon was money hungry and impatient. He had Jonathan Cain to call and he told him that they were interviewing lead singers. How do you think Steve reacted. He was not happy and said there was no coming back from this. He felt cheated on. What makes you think he wants to come back? Every think I have listened to or read he indicated that he does not have the desire to ever come back.

    im not exactly sure but i think he means maybe we will enjoy live performances again

  • @merrypeary
    @merrypeary 15 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Nope!!!! Don't I don't want to see Steve with Journey anymore. Anyone who loves him wouldn't ask him to go back to that . I think it's more important that he spends the rest of his life being happy. I can dream he'll do one more solo album. But if he doesn't , he has left us with lot of mucic.

  • @jannierocks
    @jannierocks 15 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I have no idea, that was 2006. Rumors started in January 2009 of a new solo album---NOTHIN' yet!!! He DOES have songs, I don't know what he's waiting for. He's very recently done 2 interviews: one with a DJ in London, 1 in Scotland. How about US?? He will NOT tour, even if he does release an album; he's 61 and admits he can't do the stuff he did "Back then, when we felt no pain"! I don't care, I just want more of him!

      Put your earphones on and listen to his word pronunciation, it is perfection! His English teacher would be proud. The other members of the band spoke the same way. You can even hear him swallow!

    Whether or not you accept my comments makes no difference to me. But what do you expect them to do with Neal Schons hand picked new lead singer Arnel Pineda. I think he's happy with who he's got. He doesn't want Steve back and Steve doesn't want to come back.

    Radio is horrible now even the classic rock stations especially in DC are racist and segregated its all about promoting racism
