Honestly, one of the best gardens I have ever seen!! I didn't want to leave! I hope you are inspired by what's going on at Askham Hall as much as I am! Thanks to my colleague Sam for an amazing job with the edit too! I'm looking for more gardens to film this year so if you have any recommendations please email them to: nominate@regenerative.media - Have a fab weekend!😀
Brilliant video really enjoyable so well put together and the ladies are fantastic ambassadors for growing, Have you done draw for your books as not seen anything.
I suggest you try looking into tree collards(which is a perennial) and perennial kale they can be reproduced through cuttings so you can make a whole lot of them given enough time(I even seen a perennial bean plant and a pea tree called Siberian Peashrub(though I can't remember if the peas of the pea tree was eatable for humans maybe when young) but hear people grow them around chickens as they will eat the peas when they fall from the tree))
What a stunning garden and what a dream to be able to work in it! Brilliant idea to work with the hot beds! I volunteered for 6 weeks at the organic gardens of a gorgeous eco-hotel in Portugal last year and there we also had to harvest everything while it was still tiny because the chefs preferred it. It seemed so strange to me but it does make for beautiful refined dishes and it’s fun to be able to harvest a lot so quickly.
The restaurants are blessed to have such a rich source of beautiful organic produce right at their back door. Love that they use the hotbed method of extending the growing season. That is something that us old farmers have done for decades.
I'm so amazed by those women. So much covered by such a small team. Also, fantastic idea with hotbeds. I'd love to try it this year. Thanks for sharing!
What an amazing kitchen garden. I love the interviews and the videography is beautiful. Oh, the joy and pride in their voices! And the lovely image of the chefs coming out with their trays to pick the flowers for their dishes. It is also so heartwarming to hear how you share so generously with the wildlife like the black birds and the rabbits. Your pigs are so cute and blessed to have strawberries and a great diet and a happy patting on the head! Thank you so very much to all involved. Love this! 💝
Huw - I also wanted to say that I am a new subscriber. The algorithm sent me one of your videos from about 10 years ago when you were a teen making fertilizer with sheep's manure, a cloth, some string, a board, and a bucket of water. Since then I have been watching your older videos and newer ones. Now, you are even writing books and filming other gardens. Your growth is beautiful and amazing to watch. Esther in NC/USA
This is absolutely lovely, the beauty of these gardens brought tears to my eyes. I'd love to pulll up a chair and just sit in the midst of that glorious garden. Beauty with a purpose. I'm so enjoying these short gardening films.
Just beautiful...an absolute work of art. What a world this would be if most foods were produced with this much care and affection so close to where they would later be consumed.
Having seen the garden many times across the seasons and being shown round by Diane, this is a very special place she and the team has created. The supportive encouragement and overall vision of the owners and the restaurant make for a gem of a place in a peaceful setting and stunning village context.
What a beautiful garden. I don’t know how two people, even full-time, could keep up with such a large garden. What joy that work must be to them. Thank you for sharing so many beautiful gardens.
What a beautiful circle of existence this garden is not only by providing nourishment and joy but giving back to the world around in nature. It all helps. Lovely women and a great sense of community even in a job.
What an amazing garden. This is what I am trying to achieve. When I sold my Inn and restaurant, I said I would never do a restaurant again. Well, after starting a market garden, the produce that I can grow has inspired me to jump back in. This time a submissive menu with two selections that showcase the garden's harvest. Thank you, Huw for another inspirational video.
It's easy to see why they enjoy working there so much. What a lovely space! It just radiates a sort of peace that I can't but think makes it's way into their harvest.
This is one of the few gardens I’ve seen recently that has really got me fired up - what’s been created there is outstanding and there are so many take-aways from it that can be applied in our own gardens. Lovely!
Absolutely beautifully and wonderfully made. The team there is really an inspiration to me and I just really appauld their circular approach. Thank you to all. Ive always been inspired since a very young toddler watch castle and garden tours on BBC (except I grew up in Kansas, USA!)
That is amazing! Not only the garden, which obviously is perfect , but also the way of describing it by the ladies. Oh, truly wonderful. Thank you for that video.
Huw, perfectly beautiful setting and gardens with obviously healthy food. I'm sure the chefs as well as those eating in the hall are extremely thankful for the food that is grown on-site and what fulfilling work for Diane and Jo knowing they are providing such beautiful and healthy food. Thank you for once again 'raising the bar' and showing us the possibilities of gardening no matter what size of plot we might be working with. I always look forward to Friday mornings knowing there is a video coming! (Kentucky, USA)
Wow!! Where do I begin? What you're doing is incredible. Such a diversity of crops and such care about how they're grown. Staying away from poisonous chemicals and understanding the importance of soil health and vitality. Recycling as much as posible. We I was young (I'm 78) farmers talked about "stewardship" of the land. Leaving it better than you found it. Sifting all of these things together... there's one thing that I can't ignore... It's so beautiful!!
Wow! THIS garden is amazing! The passion for the earth, soil, veg, animals, shows and is very inspiring. If they ever need another set of hands, I'd like to volunteer!
Incredible garden these ladies have created, so beautiful and organized. Gardens like this one serve as an inspiration for all of us gardeners around the world.
Really nice to see. Well done! Such an inspiration! I feel encouraged to grow more and I just felt so happy about that I finally asked a friend of mine, who is a florist, if she'd be interested in buying flowers from me IF I against all odds would success in producing more ornamentals this year. 🥰 Grow in the garden and also inside of yourselfs! 🤗 Take care!
Thank you for showing us this magnificent garden. Amazing. Inspiring. The future of sustainable gardening producing food that actually tastes good. Lettuce qrown to ship a thousand miles tastes like the cardboard it is shipped in.
Thank you for the little slice of paradise. So much going on there. I love the use of hot beds to extend the season. What an amazing job those lovely ladies are doing.
Really a fantastic garden. It’s beautiful. The way you video it is really wonderful. I also enjoy the music and how there is not a formal interview, they just speak their expertise.
Thank you, i m in search of this, cause i ve got the same job now, for a belgian restaurant. it s quite a challenge for a first year to understand and be understood by the chef for me. Wich to find inspiration with people having the same opportunity, even if there is no answer to my questions there, video is a good help anyway so thanks !
Wow what a garden proves that good quality veg can be grown anywhere. Cheif dream walk out in to the garden like this and the hillside garden. Would love more about the hot beds no dig style of gardening.
Always so beautiful. Can't wait until spring begins again... Thanks for your movies Huw and to the rest of your team! Greetings from Schorfheide/Germany
Huw, you’ve done it again. Brilliant inspirational Video I really didn’t want it to finish. What a lot those ladies achieve I am just amazed. Thanks for sharing this with us all.
Beautiful gardens! I always believe grass beneath and round trees competes for nutrients and harms the tree's growth. I would cut the grass short and then cover it to kill it and replace the grass with wood chips.
What a beautiful garden. Thank you for bringing this to Us! I remember you said that you would be doing some things differently this year and I love the dire tion of this channel!
Perfectly beautiful! Can't imagine working in such an environment. I love the idea of using a hotbed...just recently started learning about those. That's on my gardening to do for next fall. Thank you for these beautiful garden stories! They are so inspiring especially now with the frigid temps we are having.
Such a beautiful productive garden! Amazing and encouraging what you do with such a small team! Now I need to research hot beds, which I think will help gardening on the west coast side of Vancouver Island. From, Pam not John😊
Also looking in to the heat bed opportunity, have a stable as our closet neighbor and are in the inland of Sweden so the warmth might be a extra boozed. Time too Google more!
Hi Huw! In all of your seedling/transplant/ planting videos, I am always seeing these amazing onion starts that you have - I have never seen onion starts like that with the globe so we'll developed. I have never had any luck with onions - even when I buy them in the nursery - and it's very frustrating because they are our favorite vegetable and I try so hard with no luck. Could you please make a video about how you do onion starts and onions in general?Time of year planting/seedling feeding/ onion variety / succession onions / time in propagation tray to develop that nice globe etc. I would be so grateful! You have the prettiest onion starts I've ever seen!

Utterly inspired. This could be a model for more restaurants. Actually, _should_ be.

Huw, I LOVE watching all of your videos! Always top notch and you always out do yourself bringing us the full story! Have an amazing day being you!

Good luck 🤗
You can, of course, take pictures.
Wishing you every joy! 🤞🥳💝🍀☘💞
Enjoy every second of it!
Just as it should be. Respecting Mother Earth and utilising her tools. xxx🥳💝💞

I need to give these hotbeds a go myself! Thank you for watching and glad you enjoyed it.
@@HuwRichards I will look forward for a video from you to practically see you do it and replicate first time... 😊
I'm so amazed by those women. So much covered by such a small team. Also, fantastic idea with hotbeds. I'd love to try it this year. Thanks for sharing!
They really are so fantastic!!! So glad you enjoyed it! I am certainly inspired by hotbeds!

Exactly! And despite this, they both seem so peaceful and happy and in tune with the garden. Beautiful video. Relaxing even :)
