    Make sure you let the people know about the scammers that target new ebay stores if it happens to you. A lot of people get sucked in by them when they first start out. Also, I'm glad to see you at the bins in the next episode! As an almost exclusive bins sourcer, I was screaming, why didn't she go to the bins with that $50?!! lol. This is great content. Original and engaging. Also, you could look for free shipping materials at walmart and places like that for free boxes. That's what I did when I first started out. Not glamorous but affective and no one complained. I also started writing thank you and the persons name on the paper that I lined the item with in packages. My positive feedback skyrocketed when I started doing that. The amount increased and the way customers interacted in any way with me (even on returns or mistakes I made) was much more positive once I started writing a thank you note w/their name.

    LOL on the discrepancy. As a new reseller you do everything you have to do to make it work. I have dived in dumpsters before when I first started because I was on a 21 day wait before I got paid. I needed a box to ship a new item. Went behind Bed Bath and Beyond to get a box. I laugh at how petty people go to call people out. I always tell people to enjoy the message not the discrepancies. Love the new series. BTW my mom is amazed on how much you make selling jeans. She has become my first part time employee since she is about to retire. Love the channel. I have been giving you shout outs on our channel FLEbayHunter. You definitely help us old toy resellers to dive into the clothes category.

    I love this series! Have you considered selling out of your families closet? I started selling with just items around the house. Also ask your family/friends if they want to clean out their closest and give you clothes; then you can be willing to take a couple low offers in the beginning to get your store some action. I always tell people I'll take whatever your planning to donate; I'm willing to pick it up at their convenience and I just donate anything I can't/don't want to sell.

    Hi Carrie! Thank you SO much for your videos! This series is so fun! I have been reselling since July 2023, and I’m finding that I need to reinvest most of my net profit back into inventory. At what point were you able to start paying yourself? Right now, for me, it is starting to feel like a waist of time 😢 I have 230 items listed, selling 1% of my store daily. I am doing this completely on my own, and my life situation is that I am the full-time caregiver for our special-needs/wheelchair-bound kiddo. Not excusing anything, just trying to explain. Any direction you could give would be amazing!

    • @carrieathome
      @carrieathome  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m glad you’re enjoying them! So once you know how much money you typically spend on inventory either daily or weekly, you can keep that amount in a separate bank account. Tap into that for inventory purchases and refill it back up with your payouts. Anything extra that goes past your typical threshold, you can pay yourself with. So if you typically need $500/week to source with, always refill your account back to $500 and anything beyond that, you’d pay yourself. Hope this helps!

    I think this is a really cool challenge. However, you showing your new store name automatically shows all your viewers and will likely result in increased traffic and sales. It would be tricky to do this because viewers could also just search specific items you have listed and that would put you at a clear advantage for more views and buys too. If you are a few weeks behind real time, that would certainly make this a more realistic challenge. Things you buy and list would likely sell before youtube viewers see that content.

    I've got to disagree on the get the Niche first. If you are starting out, you should start with things you have around the house. The cost of goods is zero. You tell family and friends that you are looking for items to sell on eBay. Anything that you get for free does not count towards your $50. Sell some of them at very low prices to get Feedback - without positive feedback it will be a real uphill battle. Once you have some positive Feedback, then choose a Niche and only sell in that Niche. Beginners can't be that choosey.

    Does it have to be ebay? I think that might be a slow go to get ball rolling to have money tied up in few items that might take month to sell. Id suggest if you get money go to the bins get what you can then sell facebook local so you can get the cash right back. Doing that for a bit until you can afford to have 100 items to list online. LOL. reselling is so ripe for juicy justifications. You can overspend by $5 every hour of every day. Well I can anyway.

      lol I totally get it! When a good deal comes along like this carhartt I had to wrestle with the $5 for a bit 😂

      The bubble mailer returns will almost cover the $5. They were grossly overpriced anyway. I buy a case on FB Marketplace for $10 to $20 depending on material, size, and quanity. I buy 1000 polymailers for $10 on Marketplace. I get Amazon bubble mailers for free from members of my local FB group for my city. There are so many generous people out there.

      You made the correct call with the Carhatt and 5 dollar overage. It's a good business decision. I am loving this series

    Carrie, we love this and all your videos! I say this ONLY to give you a good laugh, amidst some of the unjust heat you said has come your way over this… “if you were REALLY starting from ground zero, getting no advantage from what came before… wouldn’t you call the eBay store carriescloset, or something not connected at all to the TH-cam which has a built in following?” Remember, before anyone jumps on me…. I’M JOKING HERE and don’t think any of the criticism is just, but hard to believe you haven’t heard this or other more ridiculous stuff thrown out over this series? You are the man (errrr, I should say WO-man! lol 😂) and we’ll keep watching your videos!

    Cheap sell ($100) the Carhartt since you are out of money. No growth for your store if you sit on inventory. It will fuel this weeks sales. It hurts! I understand. It's a means to an end at this point in your process. If you needed to feed the kids tonight then you wouldn't hesitate to cheap sell it.

      She is doing a series showing what it’s like to start a store with no money as a new eBay seller.

      It’s a challenge to only use a small amount of money to build a store that’s profiting $3k/month. :)

      Most You Tubers do not make eBay sales from the audience. This series is showing how someone brand new to reselling can be profitable and successful. Carrie is doing a great job in my opinion.

    I'm less then a year in to my flipping but started out flogging off items from my house, first month took in $100 cos ebay customer services suck and i had to run thr maze to orive i wasnt a scammer...now I'm at the $2500-$3000 monthly and found mixing hardware made part time easier...my ASP from clothes was just over $20 but mixed in hardware and its $75...i understand your challenge and its personal choice what to learn to flip, the more type of goods the more learning but the more choice in stores, getting digital cameras, small electronics, christmas vintage goods, some toys....can be the same size to store but more financially rewarding for the same or less time...goodwill offer 5 day return in faulty electronics so plenty of time to test and use YT videos to know what to test and how to fix on occaisions...turned $4 digital camera into $180 sale, lifetime maps garmin from $7 into $120, both small storage items but massive profits, even seaked new figurines like a pair of santa jack figurines, cost $2.99 each sold for $35 each.....like they say, smarter not harder...seeing your work like a $1.3m flipper for a day for jeans figuring out what you net for so much work comparred to drive as far but dont pick up even 1/3 the items for the same net and storage needs and in some cases reduced shipping and even better, return policy seems like a good video for the future to try iut..hardware versus clothes.
