    Carrie- this is the most realist thing on the internet right now. Thank you for showing the reality of beginning a new shop and learning. I have 4 years experience. But I crashed and burned last year and re started my shop at the end of February/March of this year. I have jumped back into jeans but I added the category of men's that I am learning from scratch. This video captures how it feels for me as a seasoned seller to be starting over again. I deal daily with feeling like it's not moving fast enough. This video is confirmation for me that I need to chill out and just keep going lol. -Alissa

      I am in a similar situation only I stopped doing eBay a few years ago because hurricane Harvey made me homeless temporarily and I had to find another way to get my life going back again. In any case. While my store was doing OK I now recognize that I could’ve made much better decisions and so going forward. I am trying to reeducate myself before I move back to the states so that I start the way I mean to go on this time instead of just sort of falling into it by accident and then scrambling, and having it take over my life and home.

      I wanted to start with a small budget because there are beliefs out there that you need a lot of startup money. If I started out with a bigger budget, then I would buy supplies/tools to make listing easier sooner than now. I’m learning shirts by studying sold comps and getting out in the field to see what’s around 👍

      @@carrieathome I think you should tell people that they must have a scale and a ruler or measuring tape. Maybe tell them that priority boxes from the post office can only be used for priority. Explain the difference between ground advantage and priority. And then maybe weigh your item after it's packaged and step them through how to fill out the purchase the label screen. And maybe even how to do the QR code on your phone and have the post office print their label in case they don't have a printer at home or their printer is broken or out of ink, which always causes a panic.

    is the account so new that they have those like you can only list 15 items or $500 worth of items sell price. I saw limits like that for a super new like you just made the account today kind of numbers. I myself have a 5k item and $50k per month limit but my brother made a fresh account and he was limited so much that it wasnt even worth trying. If you linked this account to your main then you wouldnt have had that issue at all. Im looking at it from someone who decided today to open a ebay account with those very strict limits on new accounts.

      @carrieathome  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      This is a brand new accoun that I just opened. ebay has upped the limits a lot for most people. Some people are even getting like a million free listings a month now! lol

      @@carrieathome thanks for the reply my brother ended up having an account that he made to buy something about 8 months ago the thing he bought was around $200 that was his only activity on the account when he put in his bank account info it revealed how much his selling limit was on that account and it was the same as mine 5k items $50k a month. So it worked out for him by looking for other emails he had used. As for the day one account with the 15 items $500 limit I feel bad for anyone who has to deal with those limits starting out. I enjoyed the videos I have watched of yours thanks for all information it helps a lot of people.

    This is such a great series! I’m interested to see if the promoting works for you. I’ve heard other resellers saying promoting doesn’t work at all, or it does but only to do the minimum 2% 🤷‍♀️ I just started selling on eBay in early March; I’ve only sold 4 items, totaling $220. It’s extremely frustrating. I’m on daily listing, sending offers, and revising my listings but it doesn’t seem to help much. I also only have about 20 items in my store because I want to list good stuff but my cash is tied up now. 😩 I am making about $36 profit per item sold but it’s so slow

    • @carrieathome
      @carrieathome  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I promote on my other store at an average of 6% and it seems to be working well. I personally think promotion is needed in the clothing world, unless we’re selling hard to find items. But for the common stuff, we’re in a pool of other sellers. Gotta find a way to stand out to the customer, from my experience.

    What do you use to track your inventory as far as where you purchased, cost, mileage how do you keep track this is where i struggle

    • @carrieathome
      @carrieathome  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m not tracking a lot these days other than my mileage and average cogs. I take a photo at the beginning of the year of my odometer and then a photo at the end of year. I allots a percentage of those miles for business. For cogs, I take what I spent in that month and divide it by the amount of items I listed. We buy and list 30/day.

    Hi! With Selling on eBay, I've never understood how returns work, like how do you know when you get your money? If someone gives feedback does that mean they then can't open a return?

    • @carrieathome
      @carrieathome  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      As a buyer getting money from a return refund, it takes a few business days for it to appear on your bank statement. And if the buyer has left feedback, they can still open a return within the return time window. If they left a negative feedback, opened a return, and the seller refunded and closed the return case, the negative feedback will be removed

      It seems to be going the same way, if not a bit better. The process is a lot better, and I believe I’m getting a bit more sales right out the gate.

    i get that you're trying to be realistic, but i would just never sell with a 0 or low feedback account, you can probably build up a 100 feedback account just by buying stuff off ebay and you can't get negatives as a buyer.

    • @carrieathome
      @carrieathome  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s very true and a great way to build up the feedback barrier

    • @donkeykong1234
      @donkeykong1234 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@carrieathome you can receive/leave one feedback per seller each sun to sat week, so if i have to buy two things from the same person i'll buy one off one account and then login to account 2 and buy the same thing. just doing this over time, you can build up feedback on a secondary or third account. for me i always want a backup plan and a backup to the backup plan. like if an account goes below standard, then move to your plan B account until the bad metrics drop off. or like separately types of product like you're doing with jeans vs shirts. no, i'm sure ebay doesn't want you to do that but you cannot be in a situation where they can put you out of business with no recourse

    • @carrieathome
      @carrieathome  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you think you need three days to ship an item out, then leave it there because you don’t want to not make it and get penalized. But if you think you can ship an item out within a day or two, I suggest shorten your handling time. ebay will boost a shorter handling time vs longer one.

      Nice! I would look into it when you are getting some consistent sales in the month. I wouldn’t if only a couple things sold that month. I’d try to figure out how to sell them first before using the tools. The tools are there to help sell your items faster if they are good items. 👍

    Definitely greedy at 12% they tell me that for every item and when I do 4% they say low amounts might hinder your sales. Sure ebay sure. You are much more successful than me so maybe 1 listing idea will work but id want to put out as many fishing lines as I could. If you listed all your inventory you might start getting 1-2 sales a day. It also will get you more feedback which people will feel safer with sadly I dont buy from any low amounts because they are mostly scammers they take your money then close up shop. To recoup your money fast you might need to like 50% off what things go for. Some money all of the time over all the money some of the time. GL
