Nothings working. Tapping the area where the cd is entered isnt working, updating system software isn’t working its already updated, turning it vertically isnt working, i can’t get to the safe mode spot.. nothings working
My ps4 puts a streak or mark across the surface of the disc rendering it unreadable. No matter how clean or new the disc is, it makes no difference because the damn ps4's insert and eject mechanism causes a mark on the disc as it enters and exits. WTF. What can I do. ???????????

Dude, unrecognized disk mostly means that laser is having a problem (what Neanderthal would not come up with idea to check actual disk and wipe it first?) especially if console is in horizontal position, not vertical, and only thing you need/can do is to tilt your console to vertical position, or simply place it vertically till it reads the disk. I sold over 60 consoles so far, and none of them had "damaged/greasy disk" as true problem, but it was actual laser, and thats the main reason of this error.
Includes strange discs from PS1, Xbox One Discs and PS4 Fake discs, so to say, cannot recognize the disc make sure that it is not damaged or dirty, and that it is not inserted upside-down

But on the next day, everything works perfectly again for any disc until the console is shut Off again ... Seems like an issue with your system software. I'd recommend going into the PS4 recovery mode (turn the console off and hold the power for 7 seconds until you hear two beeps). Once you're in the recovery mode you'll have a few options. The first I'd try is rebuilding the database as this option won't affect your data. If this doesn't work try the last option (initialize PS4 and reinstall system software). Make sure your data is backed up before doing this. If you're still having this disc issue after this then its a hardware problem.

Its not a 60.00 disc if your using toothpaste, toothpaste is used on roughly scratched discs
