2023 still here....Africans are the true owners of all African lands.... I hereby say to all Africans...from Liberia to Ethiopia...from Egypt to Zimbabwe, Namibia, Soweto, south Africa...we own our lands...Those that stand against us shall scatter in pieces...Jah is our Guide and Shield. ...Peace to Africa
My mom was dating a guy from I believe Nigeria in the 80's. He played a lot of cultural music. This song is one that stood out for my siblings and me. We would also sing this song and when we were recently reminiscing on childhood, I decided to Google the words and WA LA I FOUND IT!! Thanks to whomever added this song to TH-cam.
Some people and my friends are coming to ask me what about the Radio Kudirat this is the time we need Radio Kudirat. Radio Kudirat will not comeback again because we fought for democracy and democracy is here. But only the wrong r 7:127:177:17
What a song!! Papa's land..Papa's land.. Who owns Papa's land????? Rhythm from the African Content!! Just listen to the Trumpet....ooooh Wonderful,,,, Sonny Okoson RIP...you're great
These were the days when other Africans were fighting for South Africa from Apartheid rule. Now South Africans have turned their backs on other Africans living in South Africa. Say no to Xenophobia South Africans.
I grew up hearing this song and I asked my Dad how was the war like fighting the British to claim back our land and he told me the whole story. I wept hearing the bass guitar rhythm majorly.
For this particular song, the bass guitar was played by Mike Odumosu. I do not know if he is his Aston Barrett as there were up to three bassists in this album. The song was written and arranged by Eddy grant.
One of our best record in those days, this album was produced in 1979 I remember vividly because I used to play it my self on our stereo. The album is the one written Disco 45 speed not 36 speed like normal records
De la musique à l'évangile. Feu Sony okosun s'est donné à Jésus-Christ puis s'est mis à son service proclamant l'évangile dans son pays. Il a été rendu célèbre par son tube célébre 'Fire in Soweto'
Fela's music was mostly the same style, that is not easy to follow for everyone. The life example with multiple women, drugs, and HIV etc, is not a good example. He had great messages, but mostly in Yoruba highlife style okay. He was a great international artist as well. Sunny Okosun was a Pan Africanist, global beyond Nigeria. He brought Nigerian music to the limelight and released songs through Shanachie well known in Southern Africa and globally, and also EMI music, and Jive Music etc. Sunny Okosun is actually more of a legend. He fought for African freedom all over. All his songs carry great messages. He didn't have a shrine like Fela, he carried the message everywhere.
Sunny Okosun was an African freedom fighter, an activist of nonviolent social change. He was a global hero demanding redemption for Africa and its people against neocolonialism. Fela for his part was a Yoruba icon and regional African musician. He is not equal to Sonny Okosun.
Liberian 🇱🇷- talking about grown up- love this song 🎶 🎶

Effectivement, les looks de Sonny Okunsus et Elvis Kemayou se ressemblent tellement, tout comme le fond de leurs cœurs respectifs...!

My greatest singer in Africa. Very gentle, noble and very educated.
RIP Sunny OKOSUN.
Ozidi bank was one of those bands that would never die.
I was personally born into the band. My dad ( Johnnie Wooden ) was always on the keyboards.
Yes ozidi band will never die
Whoa.
Your father was part of greatness. Music was for a cause then. Greetings to your dad if he is still alive.
Can someone play this music to the south African who are oblivious of how we supported their liberation.
Sony, a music legend R.I.P
If I could reverse time Sonny Okosuns, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Fela, UB 40 would also be recalled.

Chanson qui reflète la vérité de tous les jours. Regarde a travers le monde où la majorité des pays lutte encore pour une souveraineté absolue.
Classic was a big hit in my day as a young man growing up in Freetown Sierra Leone
This great Man died because of lack of Oxygen in an Hospital I heard. So painful though he was saved as a christian later end.
2019 and I am still jamming to this classic. In 1982 it was on constant rotation in my house. Very revolutionary!!!

Who was great Sonny or Fela Kuti?
No African artist can be compared with fela kuti
Both were Soo good
Fela's music was mostly the same style, that is not easy to follow for everyone. The life example with multiple women, drugs, and HIV etc, is not a good example.
