Thanks for the tutorial. I ordered a replacement today. Between you and Humble Mechanic, I was able to diagnose the issue (my hunch was right) and limp 200 miles home knowing it was just the PCV shreaking loudly. I pulled the gasket from the oil cap to equalize the crank case pressure enough to make the squealing stop.

2013 Tiguan. I had a P2187 along with a pile of O2 sensor and misfire codes, nine faults in total. I used my finger to plug the vent on the PCV cover bleed/vent hole to diagnose. Stupid diaphragm was torn terribly. The Doorman part is a thicker rubber bit and was super easy to swap. Thanks for the video man. Much appreciated.

Just had one replaced on 2012 GTi (CDL engine code as per Golf R) 06F129101R , had just started to have surging idle and then engine check light came on. Awesome! I just had this go bad on my 09 B8 A4 quattro 2.0T (FSI). Symptoms: High pitch whistle coming from the front of the engine (dipstick plug location) at idle after driving. Strong neg. pressure pull when trying to remove oil cap with engine idling.
(*Edit: I used a different part number for my model - 06H103495AE… I'm still not 100% sure that this is the right part. I may need to replace the crankcase seal. I highly recommend calling the dealer or experts and using your VIN to find the right part.*) Install procedure is the same except there's an additional bolt holding the coil connector line in place. The valve is right on top of the engine (easy access ~ 30 min job.) Great video!
I would caution anyone about buying aftermarket parts for this one. Based on my research it's been linked to the oil consumption issue and if the part has been through multiple revisions it's probably safest to get the latest OEM. Make sure it's the right part though.
Edit: Replacing this part has made a HUGE difference. When idle I can't even tell if the car is on. It was quite rough before. The performance has improved and the whistle is long gone.

Deutsche Auto Parts- Your Source for Everything VW and Audi I did some more research and my original number is 06H-103-495J so does that mean that the latest revision of my part is actually 06H-103-495AE and not the AC?

Obviously, as soon as I started the car the MIL came on and then I realized it was the wrong part. I needed the 06H103495AE. Since I installed it I'm assuming I can't return it so it's going up on eBay. I couldn't wait so I went to the dealer for the correct part. Thanks for all the help though. Next time I'll be smarter.

Suspect this is the problem on my 2008 CC 3.6 vr6. Slight misfire at idle. Recently had to have throttle body cleaned whistle noise from engine but only when under load. Had fault codes showing vacuum leaks, Dodgy o2 sensors and cat converter fault codes. From what iv been told on this particular engine you have to replace the whole valve cover as it's a non serviceable part and comes as part of valve cover assembly. Is this correct?

I'm currently getting code P2187 with the 2.0T engine in my 2010 VW EOS. Now I'm trying to diagnose the issue.
So far the 2.0T is proving to be another expensive engine to maintain. Not quite as bad as the 2.8L VM-Motori diesel that "was" in my 2005 Jeep KJ (swapped in a 3.7L Gas V6 in its place) but at least all the non engine related parts are cheap on the Jeep when compared to the parts on the EOS. While the VW EOS is a pleasure to drive I don't think it will be a long term keeper.

Question.. I have an 11 A3 2.0. Just noticed it’s using oil and idle gets erratic when I pull the dipstick like it’s sucking air. Would this be caused by the Pcv valve not working correctly? Thanks!

I just replaced my valve and realised that the previous valve was aftermarket Vaico brand and had been replaced less than 2 years ago, about 25K miles. I was getting different check engine codes from faulty O2 sensors and also faulty catalytic converter. Once I replaced the valve with a VW/ Audi from the stealership the codes went away in less than 5 seconds after the valve was replaced. Paying the extra price at the stealership may give you peace of mind and not having to replace within 25 K miles. Also, the previous valve was leaking quite a lot of oil due to the gasket having gone bonkers! No more Vaico aftermarket for my MV.

Hi Paul, is the Pcv valve also known as oil separator? Volkswagen is recognising this part as a oil separator.

Can you clean the original pcv assembly and reinstall while waiting for the new one?

Got a 2010 CC with the 2.0t and the engine has a lean code and multiple misfire code. MAF reading under 1 on live data and no vacuum leaks found. Crankcase vacuum when removing oil filler cap is minimal when running. Could this be my issue? I replaced MAF sensor to no avail and with same low readings. Bout to pull hair out!!! Thanks in advance.

Very good video... clear and concise. However there is a tightening sequence for these small bolts and a torque value of 11Nm. Unfortunately at time of writing i cant upload the picture that shows the tightening sequence. Sorry...

Idk if anyone has ever experienced this but I just replaced my pcv and now whenever the car is warm after driving Im getting a constant squeak at idle and a louder one when shutting the car off. Sounds like it is coming from the passenger side of engine bay. Any input would be nice. Thanks

I recently bought this part from you guys and has worked great so far but when I was first diagnosed to replace the old one I was told my car was burning too much gas due to taking in too much air and was told by the vw dealer that a computer reset was needed so the car could go back to regular gas efficiency, my request is if you guys could make a video of how to reset the computer or simply instruct me through here? I would really appreciate the help. keep up the great work!

You should have your codes erased by a local shop or Autozone might be able to help you erasing them.

    • @italatin18
      @italatin18 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Deutsche Auto Parts- Your Source for Everything VW and Audi I took care of erasing the check engine code that was no trouble at all, I mean resetting the computer so it can burn air/fuel like it used to before unless I'm mistaken. ps thanks for answering so promptly.
