What a great interview with Jenny. She is so inspiring. I watch a couple of her you tube videos every day. I really love the triple play they are all so clever . Love to have more triple plays.
This pod cast has been one of the very best ever. Jenny is so uplifting and positive and her enthusiasm is contagious ! Thank you so much for having her...
I haven’t been quilting long, maybe 4 years, and I actually learned watching Jenny’s quilt tutorials. Even tho we are close to the same age, I look at her as my grandma, because my grandma taught me everything, but she passed way too soon, so I never learned to quilt from my own grandma, so Jenny completed my journey. Thank you so much for having her today.
So enjoyed this podcast with Jenny. She and her family are such an inspiration. I've made many quilts using her tutorials and probably would never have gotten back into quilting without those tutes! Thank you for a wonderful podcast!
I have been quilting since my youngest went to college in 2011. It has been such a great hobby and my happy place. I have made them for wedding gifts, baby gifts, Christmas gifts, etc. I have only made two for myself so far. The part about giving them to others touches me so much! ❤️❤️
Great interview Sherri. What Jenny and her family have brought to the quilting world is truly amazing. I had the good fortune of visiting Hamilton in 2018 and it was such a wonderful trip.
Made one trip to MSQC several years ago and fell in love with it. (We live in Fulton, MO) Can't wait to go back but for now, I go online. This was an absolutely awesome interview (but I may be a bit biased!). Jenny is a gracious and inspiring lady. Thanks for the interview.
Thanks for having Jenny Doan on your show! I read her amazing book! I know she is loved by so many people! I watch all her tutorials and enjoy them very much! Merry Christmas !
Thanks for doing this interview. I started quilting at 78 near the beginning of the Covid 19 lockdown in 2020. It saved my sanity, I swear!! And thanks to you and your family and to Jenny and her family for teaching me so much and inspiring me to continue.
I adore that i came across this podcast to listen to while i finished up binding a quilt for my son. Thank you for bringing this to us abd thank you Jenny, you were such an inspiration to my journey back into quilting (via the sewing machine!), today my life is nothing like it used to be but it is exactly what its supposed to be and my days at 60 yrs old have been filled with machine piecing and quilting for almost 25 yrs and has been especially qratifiying since watching jennys quilting tutorials on machine quilting. thank you both🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
So glad to hear more about Jenny! She was my inspiration to start quilting. I stopped sewing when my 3 little daughters began to swing from my sewing machine table( my mother’s Singer “pop up “ machine down in a nice wood cabinet with a fold out table) In the living room where I would be making matching dresses for them. Happily, and fortunately for me, My husband found Jenny on his phone. I also saw her little town and heard the story of how she and her family have changed that sort of the works and the lives of so many people. When I am “working out “ piecing problems in my Sewing room, I hear all her reminders in my head. The one I’ll share is about the importance of squaring up and watching her take off the little slivers at the edges. At first and for awhile I didn’t “get it” and let that part of the tutorial go unheeded. After all, we trim away with scissors on garment making, but we don’t ever “square up !” Now I know when and why that is important. 🤗
I loved this podcast. So inspiring. I am going to get Jenny’s book and read it. Thanks! I am looking forward to seeing Billy quilt a project. Thank you all for putting on these videos. It definitely has carried me through the pandemic and helped me learn so much. We appreciate you all!
I started to learn to quilt when my husband passed away and I was 65. That is exactly how I am learning utube! I could never learn in a class! Love this thank you!!
Great interview! I love Jenny! I'm in my late 50's and just started quilting about 4 yrs ago. I wish I had started earlier. I actually learned and continue to learn from her. I'm a visual learner and angley challenged as she says! So I'm thankful for her TH-cam videos. And your's as well Sherri! Thanks 😊
Oh my goodness, I've been following Jenny Doan for years and I didn't know how she got into quilting. I am enjoying this interview so much I had to pause it and say Thank You for doing and sharing this. I am old enough to know that Ben Franklin's was a five and dime store back in the day while many newer quilters probably don't.
Great interview. I loved her before and love her more the comment from her son, Alan about 20 hours into a quilt. That is a quilter..Thank you, Sherri. Enjoy your podcast and sew alongs very much.
Fantastic interview, love listening to both of you. TH-cam is the answer for me, there are my favourites that I watch and have learnt a lot with lots left to learn. Thanks for making my quilting journey possible. 👍❤️😊
So inspiring! Thank you. All non quilters should watch this and then they would be more appreciative of all the blood, sweat and tears and heart put into every quilt.
I sew enjoyed this pod case. I have been blessed to be able to go to Missouri from Pennsylvania in 2018 by bus. It took us 2 days to get there and 2 days to shop and of course 2 days back. So worth it. Then she came to Lancaster PA and yes I went to see her there. You really do need to go to Hamilton. She came and got on bus and greeted us and the second day we went to one of her shows. Wow we laughed and cried. Like you said you need to get there. I love your pod casts and that you too are family oriented. We are blessed to have you care enough to share your family with use. Thank you!
Sew love the harvest road fabric line 💕. That was such a wonderful surprising and amazing fabric line! Great podcast. Jenny is such a sweetie and so inspirational 💕. Great video as usual ladies !
Jenny is such a lovely inspirational lady, I saw her speak at Festival of Quilts and will alway remember that day with great fondness. She had some wonderful stories to tell and so many great ideas.
Jenny’s talk on giving away quilts encapsulates so much of quilting for me. I quilt because I like the process and love creating. I don’t need or want the vast majority of the quilts I make - I just like to make them. I give away SO many quilts. Just yesterday I donated 5 quilts to our school district to give to some of the families who are effectively homeless. My husband asked “are you sure? Isn’t there anyone you know and love who would enjoy these quilts?” I said “I’m sure. I know and love a lot of people, and I love a lot of people without knowing them. I make a lot of quilts. There will be more.”
I made the trip to Hamilton and just loved the experience. I didn’t get to meet Jenny but loved the whole experience she created in that sweet little town. Hope to make another trip there. I’m in Minnesota so I don’t normally get to Missouri but it was just down interstate 35.
This interview came up in my feed and I listened to it again. 😀 such good advice and conversation. Love it! Sherri, I think you are scheduled to come to Lincoln NE quilt guild this year. You are only about 3 hrs away from MSQC. Maybe you could take extra time to stop and visit. The Kansas City airport is only an hour away from Hamilton to head back home! PS I hope you enjoy the International Quilt Museum in Lincoln. It is a treasure.
Well said Jenny! You are such an inspiration to all of us!! I always see the mistakes in my quilts but my friends absolutely love them.. when are you coming back to Sacramento? We miss you here in California.. Thank you so much for having Jenny on your show!!!
Love you ladies and Jenny. She has a few tutorials for kids and two of my grand daughters want to watch them every time we get together. Both of them are loving sewing with Grandma!
I just love Jenny I ordered the book because just listening to Jenny I feel so inspired. Thanks for sharing this I have been so lifted up from her conversation.
Love, Love, Love this podcast today!!! Jenny Doan and her family's story is such an inspiration !! I tear up every time I watch or hear her story. So uplifting and filled with positivity!! Thank you !!!
I really enjoyed this interview, of course I always enjoy your videos! Jenny is so famous now, but she's so approachable as well. I'll have a smile on my face for the rest of the day.
Great interview!! I live about 1 hour 45 minutes away from Hamilton, so have been fortunate to go to MSQ several times. I am never disappointed! I am one of those late bloomers with quilting and have found the tutorials so very helpful. Jenny does a great job, but I have to compliment you and Chelsea, as well. The time you take to do thee videos is appreciated!! I have attempted so many different blocks because of the patient teaching on these videos. Thanks for all you do. P.S. Hope Billy does make a quilt!!🙂
I am 47 and I barely started in 2019. I was super excited to learn that I can do this. I was engulfed in the Doan world and I discovered people like Sherri and Chelsea, Kimberly Jolly, Pat Sloan, Lisa Bonjean, Chris, Tula, and all the great companies. My first quilt was Robert Kaufman fabrics and Benartex. I am still learning all the things and I watch all of you every day, literally, so I can learn about the tools, and how to perfect my skills, and about patterns. I fell in love with precuts and love that Kimberly added Jollybars to the precut family tree. I want to take a trip to Quilt Town not only to see the Doans but to be amongst all those quilters. I love being part of this community.
Jenny taught me how to quilt. My Mom could make anything from a cup towel to a wedding dress , upholstery and quilts, but I never got interested in any of her passion, she died in 2008. . 5 years ago I saw one of Jenny’s videos and I said to myself “ I can do that “ so I bought all the supplies and started. 5 Years later I consider myself an intermediate sewer and quilter . Now I know Moms passion for sewing feels. Thanks Jenny 💕
I read Jenny's book and very much enjoyed that!! Life hasn't always been easy for them and she is truly an inspiration!! Excited that there's another podcast this month. I am a fan!!! I am doing the BOM and I look forward to the finish!! Thanks for all you do!
Thank you for the interview with Jenny Doan. I have heard some of her story but not as much as I learned from your podcast. How interesting and positive to hear more of her journey! I love what Jenny said about giving quilts and being a part of a quilt community. I also love teaching sewing to my friends bc it grows the quilting family. I always run across people who say they have a sewing machine but don't know how to use it. That's an open door to share and teach.

I sent this link for your interview to the three of them-it is a must-listen. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families!
