      +joe tiller. Lol! My great grandpa was square baling once and he was bad to not look back, he lost the wagon that the guys were packing hay on, they tried yelling but he couldn't hear either so they just sat there until he came back around. He said he seen that wagon over in the field when he turned around and wondered where it came from then it dawned on him.

    In the interest of Full Disclosure and Fairness to Krone, what is the age of that machine, how many years of service did you get before the first failure, and why did you not go back to Krone for service at the first failure? Thanks

      @DLHFarms  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +steve holton. Did you even watch the video? This was not about bashing krone. We do not take things back to the dealership that are out of warranty.

    I can see as you are tedding that the rear of the Tedder is bouncing and flexing. Looks like a good fix. I looked at a 6 star version today on a parts run. Cost too much. That steering adjustment looks neat. Should demonstrate it in action, never seen that before.

    • @DLHFarms
      @DLHFarms  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +PA Farms. Ok I will try to get that in action. They are expensive, but they are pretty good tedders.

    I've bent spud bars worse prying rocks out of post holes. It'll bend right back, they're kind of like limp noodles

    I had the same problem on the exact same Tedder. I took everything off and only changed the handle for shifting positions. You're exactly right, it's a shame to pay that kind of money and have those problems.

    Looks like a good fix for the guards & the bent arm. The Krone seems to have held up well for being used for 8 years. Stay safe.

      +crslyrn. Yeah no real complaints on the krone other than the guards

    Had the same issue with a kuhn tedder, they all fell off and we only re mounted the rear ones as the front ones just got in the way going through tight gateways. We have a bigger heavier fella tedder (now made by agco) and that seems to not bounce around so much and hence hasnt fallen apart like the kuhn.

    • @DLHFarms
      @DLHFarms  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +mataiterapreha. The krone is a heavy well built machine, it surprised me that they broke but nothings perfect.

    • @mataiterapreha
      @mataiterapreha 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DLH Farms they definitely are, the farmer next door has a 6 rotor one he bought 2nd hand which is still going strong and he's pretty hard on his gear lol.

    • @DLHFarms
      @DLHFarms  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +mataiterapreha. I would love to have a 6 rotor one, but can't justify it. Seems like I spend most of my time tedding when I'm making hay.

    I've got a New Holland Tedder and one of the tine bars was missing. Turned out the prior owner hit something and sheared the tine bar off, bolts sheared off flush with the drive hub. To get us through a small tedding job, we repositioned one one of the neighboring tines to try to bring it into balance. Worked, but not good - still out of balance. Finally welded a nut to the broken bolt, screwed it out and was able to replace the missing tine bar. Tedder works great now. I said all that to say this - when the tine bar on your Tedder got bent, did it throw the whole Tedder out of balance such that it was noticeable from the cab?

    • @DLHFarms
      @DLHFarms  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +JHJ-Farm. No it didn't seem to effect the balance enough to notice even after I removed one tine that was loose it still didn't seem to be out of balance.

    I am about to buy a Krone Tedder. Do you still they are the best choice ?

    • @DLHFarms

      Mine has been good for the most part. All the guards broke off but that's about it.

    Hey DLH I just have quick question for you. In your 6640 video you talked about a problem with the seat that it wouldn't swing side to side. I have a 7740 with the same problem. You said that you have fixed it before just wondering if you could tell me what it is?

    • @DLHFarms
      @DLHFarms  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Robert Johnston. There is a rod that the handle on the seat pushes on. If you let go of the handle before the seat is latched the rod can fall out of the notch in the handle. It has been a while since I fixed it, but your going to have to get that rod back in position on the handle. Seems like it's kinda hard to see and get to but not impossible. I think you may have to pull the rubber down around the front of the seat but I can't remember exactly.

    I would be inclined to half fill the tires with water and then to not inflate them to much - this to reduce the bouncing around. I enjoy your videos - keep up the good work. Cheers from New Zealand

    • @DLHFarms
      @DLHFarms  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ian Robinson. I wonder if anyone else has ever had this problem on the krone?

    • @davidrowley8251
      @davidrowley8251 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ian Robinson we have a 2 year old 4 rotor Krone tedder. The outer tires have a lower inflation pressure than the inner tires. The eccentric spacer on the tine mounting bolt is used to adjust the tines so they are 90 degrees to the ground, vertical. The spread limiter adjustment allows throwing the hay towards the left or right. This is useful when running along a fence, ditch, road or low trees.The rake will not have to be so close to those obstacles.
      Tomorrow I will see how the guards are mounted.

      Ian Robinson do you have freezing temperatures in your part of New Zealand?

    • @ianrobinson1589
      @ianrobinson1589 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi David - I am just south of Auckland, our largest city. No snow here - temperatures range from an average low of 11 Celsius to an average high of 22 Celsius. We have only had 5 or 6 frosts here this winter

    • @4bfarmsllc262
      @4bfarmsllc262 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ian Robinson that sounds like good idea I would have never thought about ballasting tires on Tedder, I have some rough rented ground may try that on my Tedder.
