  • Skegness is the worst rated seaside town in the UK but still very popular with many people as a holiday destination in the summer months. But what is it like in the winter? Is it still as popular and do people still visit?
I walk around Skegness, check out some of the main attractions, eat some fish and chips, walk along the beach and piers to see what its like.

Are seaside towns worth visiting in winter?

  • @derekbland5253

I live in the countryside but only 15 minutes from Skeggy and only a mile from the nearest beach. There are so many beaches all the way up the coast that are less busy and lovely.

The sea does come in but it is extremely flat so you can walk out for miles when the tide is out it has to be one of the safest beaches in Europe

If we visit Skegness now . We only go in the winter . Not nice to be there in the summer . There are seaside towns that are busy all year . They tend to be on the central south coast . Their advantage is that they are attractive . Nice buildings and pleasant scenery . Great beaches , and clear sea water .

Cheers for the video 👍Worst seaside resort or not, for the seaside vibe it's still far above North Devon in summer. Skegness works whole days, not office hours, and there is much more for young people. North Devon holiday prices are too high for the average family. A lot of seaside town businesses work flat out in summer and have winter off - those places are desolate and lifeless out of season, as your video shows. Imagine what it must be like for locals living there. Their amenities and business opportunities are wasted and their economies suffer. A lot of people want winter breaks but they're restricted in choice and there is next to nothing to do.

Skeggy is NOT the worse seaside town at all, they have the best fish and chips and the beach is clean even in summer considering how many people visit in the summer!!

All seaside towns are quite in Winter. The locals like it this way , winter by the sea.

Went to Skegness last September on holiday had a lovey time lots of shops and cafes .very clean tho I think your right not a lot to do in winter 👍🏼

  • @charliesgamingplace2371

It can be nice in the winter due to less visitors. Though some things water related you can’t do there are still scatterings of arcades and the pleasure beach.

I don't know why Skegness is quoted as the "worst rated" seaside resort. It comes from Which? Connect members but if you read the survey's voting criteria, they didn't vote it the worst resort at all.

haven’t been to Skegness in quiet a while. Nice drive to Skegness live in cleethropes

  • @margaretormerod6943

What's the point of opening these attractions if no one will come. The weather in the UK is so very cold and wet in the Winter. The locals like the quietness in the colder months.
