Really slick video and I do respect his business acumen. However, as a Chelsea fan I think a lot of the buys of super young players weren't the right balance. We needed key positions filled with proven players to move back up the table quickly, in addition to buying promising youngsters.

Not just that. Take Baidashile, Jackson, ugochukwu, Carney also Palmer as a case study, I can mention more. 3 seasons from now, these 5 players would cost you close to 600 million. Say Jackson for 80-120m, Baidashile, Carney and ugochukwu for 60-80m, Palmer for about 80-100m. That's aside Madueke, Moriera, Andrey Santos, Paez, Gusto, Petrovic, Disasi, Mudryk, etc.... so, he's saving Chelsea some real cash... The team grows and blends together to become a formidable force in a few years time where he can just add one or 2 upgrades to fully fortify the team.

yea as a chelsea fan tbh if u only invest the future but the present fail miserably, best young talent will be old mid players and the new youngster wont come to a team that constantly in 12th. If they have one experience top player in both midfield and forward as well then it is genius, now we are just a mid table team with young talented players. Like Jose Mourinho said there are different between talented player and top player, now we are full of talented player with no one guide them to be the top on the field.

I think managing an American sports franchise is much easier compared to managing an English football club. This is due to the fact that despite all the glamours and the viewership football is still the least regulated sport on the planet. I mean look at FFP it has done nothing to stop the likes of PSG, City, Chelsea and other rich clubs to hoard all the talents and establishing feeder clubs that in turn making the sport more and more imperialistic. I’m not even surprised that in the near future all the clubs in the World will be owned by one or two consortiums. Now compare that to an American sport system where there’s salary cap and draft system this looks very rigid but there’s no relegation so it’s a safe environment. Boehly is failing to understand this, yes in football you can get away spending 1 billion pounds for creating an army of players and establishing network of feeder clubs but if you’re performing terribly there’s a bigger risk of relegation as well as reputation risk.

Not all sports in North America are the same and fyi in American football and baseball the owners are able to spend much more then you think, essentially the cap space is a myth. I know personally being a Dodger and Rams fan since both were notoriously criticized for being over the cap space when they both won their respective league titles. And Boehly being a owner of the Dodgers doesn’t say much since the dodgers are owned by many people. It’s funny when American sports fans think they know how the Premier league works but it’s equally ludicrous when premier league fans think they know how American sports work.

Boehly is a genius because he's masterfully skirted UEFA financial regulations? Nonsense. He runs a football club, the success of which is measured in games and not in creative financing exploits. Fact is he's spent $1B on players to take Chelsea from the Champions League to a a perennial 12th in the EPL. His to date failure is colossal by any yardstick

Might aswell have started a brand new club from league 2. He'll probably do great deals but the value of his investment and players will surely decline if him and potch don't fix up asap.

Exactly. The dressing room was getting really toxic and it could have been worse if the sacking didn't happen. He wanted experienced players to win now while the club wanted young talents that could win in the future.

I went to play soccer with friends and we were paired with a well rounded kid. He agreed to man the goal post cos it was a six-aside game. That kid was a masterstroke on that day, saved us a lot of goals than I could have predicted and his passing ranges were absolutely fire, also calm on possession or when faced with 2 or 3 attacking players.... The bottom line is, sometimes you have to trust the process even if it doesn't make sense at the time. It took Pep a year and almost half to get things running. We doubted Ederson when he was brought in, now here we are!

Sucking a Tuchel was a huge mistake. Players already had huge emotional impact soon after sanctions started + plus Tuchel departure. Abramovich started having issues and facing problems with the club years ago since UK didn’t renew his visa. War in Ukraine was a last nail in the coffin. Then Boelhy came and started fixing the things which were working properly. Chelsea lost it soul since Abramovich departure and I think the club will find it very difficult to recover for years to come.

@@CryoaynonHe's a billionaire because he came from money and grew up in an era when the likes of Thatcher and Reagan implemented the types of laissez-faire economics that funneled wealth and capital to fewer people while shifting risk downward. Take Trump as an example. Decades inflating his net worth to secure near 0% interest loans and financing despite multiple bankruptcies and a well-earned reputation for stiffing contractors and being late on payments. When it's just Monopoly money to people like Boehly there is no risk, only reward, because the game is rigged. If Boehly fails at Chelsea he'll just go home and start in on some other venture with all the perks and capital he wants available to him while Chelsea supporters will be left with the ruins of a billionaire's latest folly.

He's basically made the club swallow a poison pill that's going to make it very hard for them to adapt to the ever changing landscape of world football. Majority of transfers in the prem don't work out and this man is betting on all of them to work lmao, 8 years is a LONG time in sport. These contracts were not genius, every club knew about it, they just weren't stupid enough to abuse it knowing how quickly shit will go south for them on a bad bet (look at Barcelona lmao). The level of ridicule and criticism that has been directed in the media about Chelsea is unbelievable. You want to be looking at the quality of the transfer of the players he’s signed to be integrated into the squad for the next number of seasons. The future is bright my friend you’ve only got to look at the stats that we are putting together with the new squad and the fact that we have a number of injuries don’t help. Once we start finishing the chances we are creating the new era with a team that will be together for years will be the dominant club and all the doubters will be silent. The owners are incredibly successful at making a successful club and the systems that they are using are the result. Believe in the process they will deliver.

Look at those young talents bought with so called 1 billion, loaned out, in a couple of years they'll worth triple of the iinvestments without playing a game for Chelsea. And some of them would make the first team squad in the nearest future. Take it or leave it, Chelsea are doing just fine in their transfer dealings.

Drawing the conclusion that he is a genius for not listening to Tuchel (He didn't want Neymar in his squad) is a little far fetched. Tuchel wanted to work with that squad - replacing him was more a like a signal of strength. Also in my opinion Chelsea never was a successful club anyway. They won the champions league by luck in Munich back then. Under Tuchel they were the better team in the final against City where everybody still thought Pep can't win the CL without the little untidy Argentinian guy. That's why the Chelsea fans cheered for Abrahmovic when he killed football as we knew it before with his money. All they wanted is finally some success. And when they final got some success that looked like it could last for a while, Boehly came along and killed the whole thing in an instant to make it his baby.

You lost me at Boehly receiving unfair criticism for sacking Tuchel. In fact, I don’t think he was criticized enough. He took out a manager who won us a UCL, super cup, club World Cup and got us a 3rd place EPL finish and replaced him with a mess of a situation (won’t even bother to name the managers).
Also, you saying there were cracks is laughable. Yes, teams struggle throughout seasons and make adjustments year over year. Comparing our top 4 placing, UCL winning, Madrid beating (almost twice) form to this relegation battle we’re in is disingenuous at best, clueless at worst.

Finally, someone with a lot of sense when it comes to Boehly and the new ownership. I like the direction my club is heading. It's what i've been calling for in the past 2 years. We needed footballing people to make these decisions, not a businesswoman calling all the shots with her joke of a head scout. These new directors have scouted so much more brilliantly. We needed Boehly to come and bring us into the new era of football where u have to have a proper structure and club philosophy to catch up to Man City who are brilliant at it. Time will tell but right now, i have a lot of belief in what the club is building

Except where he started as owner he's expected to do well and he didn't, I don't think he is getting critised because chealse where big spenders before he bought the club and he is also spending much now. But he is critisised because he is spending and not having a vision. I mean if city spend what they have and end up being 8th or 10th they would be in some big problems as well. The only reason they get away with it is because they do very well.
Boehly knows he's new to the game but decides to be interim manager. How is that a good choice, I also just hear a lot of defending about how the club where in poor form when he bought it. But lets be real winning the CL just before can't mean they where in that bad of a shape as you argue.
Lastly you say that the players he bought where smart since he doesn't pay the full price they could once become. For some players this might be true but just look at the costs of some players he paid for. He overpaid massively. I think he just has enough money and is trying to buy up the market and it is kind of failing right now. He might have some good years but who wouldn't with that money spend ?

    1. Long term contracts are good for "managing money" but they are not good for keeping footballers performing year on year. Players have nothing to play for.
    2. Buying young players is what got Southamption and Leeds relegated, you need a mixed squad of youth and experience. This is well proven.
    3. Tuchel was a good coach and should have been backed, not sacked.
    ...Todd Boehly is a disaster.

Todd Boehley is inexperienced and don’t know enough about football. His tunnel vision transfer policy of buying only young player and over paying for them is naive. If you know anything about football u would know that statistically half of all transfer isn’t successful and this failure rate is even high among younger who isn’t fully developed. He is gambling on those young players to eventually develop into world class player which more than half will likely won’t. He also for wat ever reason decided against buying striker which no one could understand why.

the only thing you praised was him stepping in on transers in a scario where he was orced to. hes done 10x more wrong than right. i agree with the board removals that is fair enough. the man doesnt help himself with his comments on multiple occasions so hes brought this on himself entirely. those long contracts arnt smart if eveyr signing takes one. not safe for the player or club. look at united the best example of how bad dead wood can stink up your club. chelsea is on hte same path as that now.

Yeah sorry, this isnt changing my mind at all. Its not brave and noble to do the transfers yourself when the only reason you're in that position is due to your own imcompetence and lack of planning. And on that note getting rid of Marina is the biggest mistake they made out of all. And no, I don't believe for a second that anyone would have cared if she had stayed. Maybe the liberal media would've made a fuss but in the football world abramovich and marina were loved and respected. If they had done their research they would know this. Keeping Marina on would have been seen as the obvious and smart choice since as you pointed out, she basically ran the club for Roman during that whole period of so much success. Also, the 7 year deals is not some clever loophole. I watched my chicago blackhawks suffer for many years more than necessary due to the inability to offload players. If these players dont work out and they're on high wages, and the players dont want to move on, chelsea will be restricted on their new signings for many years. They seem to think that none of this matters because all the players are going to magically increase in value and be sold off for profit. Maybe they will.. or maybe they won't. if it was that easy every club would do it.

was totally with you in your last two videos, they're great and clearly well researched, taking into account most of the aspects that affect each situations). With this one though, it seems like there is a lot you're overlooking. For example - why was potter destined to fail at chelsea? you say that he was and then don't explain why? This might be true, but needs to be explained (it would maybe make the appointment of poch more compelling?). also, why is buying promising young players guaranteed to work out? they might fall off or already have hit their peak, or become complacent due to the long contracts handed out.
hopefully this comes across as constructive criticism. I like what you have done so far and particularly enjoyed the gambling video. Keep it up!
