Thanks for all your hard work and being honest about what a bow hunter goes through when out in the field .Because I seen a lot of videos that show guys passing bucks that decent for a named monster. However be safe out there and God bless
I feel your pain seeing all your mistakes and keeping with it. Bow hunting by itself is challenging, and adding self filming on that is even harder , plus trying it on public land! Way to stick with it!! Great video!!
That house you shot the buck at is right behind my in laws house! I saw the house in the intro and I knew right where you were! How awesome to see this area be successful! Congrats!
Damn lol AS SOON as you pulled up OnX I knew exactly where you were lol. I’m a bow hunting junkie myself, let’s link up! I’m always trying to get guys to go on public with me
I've grown up and hunted southeast Ohio my entire life. Actually, I'm from the hocking hills region. It's nice to see someone work as hard at it as you did. A little pointer- don't set your stand and equipment up on the peaks or crests of hills. When a deer has to look up to walk (especially a mature one) it will spot your silhouette in the sky light every single time. That's why that one buck wouldn't take his eyes off your tree. He had you pegged, man. Good luck in 2021
Southwest Ohio might be one of the toughest place in the country to hunt. Tons of hunters, Tons of pressure and very few places to hunt small tracts of public land.
Good hunt video, we all going through tough time esp. in public land. 2020 I hunt hard then injury one and miss one. Some year is not my year and it's pianful but i learn. Each hunt we all learn something new. Nice buck n Congrats.
Man Im gonna miss that part of the country. I just moved away from that area. Onto Illinois.... nothing wrong with new adventures and challenges. I'll miss cincy and NKY
Way to stay after it man. My profile pic is my first bow buck. Shot him on public 30 minutes from Cincinnati. Those public land deer near Cincy are a whole different level of pressured.
Congratulations buddy, you definitely put in the time and deserved that buck, way to stick with it. Maybe those other bucks made through the season and will be even bigger next season, I’m subscribing, hopefully we will get to see you catch up to those other bucks this season.
@@HuntingJunky thank you, I sure did, October 1st I killed my biggest buck to date with my bow, 158” 10 point, that’s a pretty good buck here in Tennessee, and then later in December , I killed a 4 1/2 year old 7 point, so 2020 was my best season yet.
I just started turkey hunting there last spring, nice to see that there is quality deer hunting there! Def should collaborate on some content down the road! Congrats on your harvest though!
Great video. Just ran across your channel and subscribed. I know that public land. Used to live 15 mins away. Always saw way more hunters than deer. Same with most of the state land within an hour of here though. Public hunting this close to the city is tough. Beautiful GSP by the way. Ever use him on pheasants on any of the public releases? Unfortunately I lost my GSP last October (she made it to 14 years old) but she got a lot of pheasants for me over the years. Best of luck in 2021!
@bdubs1010 appreciate it! No doubt the place gets a bit crowded haha very sorry to hear about your dog! 14 is a long lived life! Ours is currently 6 and a half months. Have had him out training several times but have not got any live hunting in yet. Goal right now is for next year. Best of luck to you as well!!
It's not too tough though! I killed my first deer there and alot of em over the years! That's a good place if you got a boat, that's a long walk if not!
Great video! Awesome footage and if this doesn't show the ups and downs of hunting... nothing will. I felt the pain of each of those bucks running away, 2020 I missed 1, wounded 1, but then killed my biggest ever. Way to stick with it buddy!
@@HuntingJunky You'll have to give it a try. I found a nature made pond about 650yds away from the nearest parking and its about 100yds from private which has beans in it. I will say I think that place has a lot of pressured deer especially after the 7 day gun season. I've been hunting there for 7yrs now and it seems they like to hang out by the ponds more than anything. They also hide in the waterfowl section that no one is supposed to go in unless your duck hunting. Bit give it a try If you want hope you like it.
Great footage not sure what rest setup your running but your rest cost you that buck that busted you. You need to felt wrap the plastic portion to get rid of the noise. That bow needs to be completey quite on the draw. Trail and error is what its all about the ups and downs of bow hunting
Sometimes the arrow will drag across the shelf of the bow before the fall away comes up. I put mole skin the same as I use on recurve on the shelf ahead of the rest. That keeps the arrow from making noise before it's captured by the rest.
@@HuntingJunky Ill agree with him that your bow was loud, but when a deer is walking uphill and facing you more than likely the movement cost you if the noise didnt.
Congratulations on the outhouse buck. The buck that you screwed up on at about 31:00 that came down the hill and then was coming directly up the hill at you. You said that you should have drew while he was in the creek. I disagree, I think you should have sat quietly and let him walk past you, when he was 25 yards past, draw and shoot with a quartering away shot. I’ve done this several times depending on the wind. I would like to see you choose different camo too. It didn’t seem to blend in to your surroundings I also live about 30 miles from Cincinnati
Thanks for the input.. Looking back I do wish I waited. Drawing when I did, I did not have a chance. I think my biggest problem was tree selection. Would have been better off further right of the trail
“That’s just bad hunting…” i agree. Never draw with a deer that’s already pegged you facing you and he’s just moving past because it don’t know what you are. Ironically I’ve done the same thing. Takes a lot to admit a mistake like that. You’ll only get better from this.
@@HuntingJunky and i said that with a lot of respect. It’s so hard to film and hunt. I don’t do it. I can’t. Just too much to manage. Deer are so unpredictable. You are so much better a man than me. I’d have never posted the video. But seriously, most hunters won’t even get the struggle and reward of bowhunting. They just won’t.
People think you just walk in the woods and smoke a goodun... It's called hunting. Not killing! Way to stay on their butt man. Hard work always pays off!
That was a nice shot. Congrats... Nice to see a local putting out great content. You hunted hard and it paid off. Im just across the river in Walton and hunt both the local public and a small private spot. The 2020 year was tuff on me also. Can't waite to see what 2021 brings to the table.
BRAVO!! Being a video creator as well, I can truly appreciate the work that went into this. I plan to start recording mine and my buddies hunts here in KY and I hope they are half as good as this one. I def Subscribed. Maybe we can do a colab sometime.

Painful to watch. Stop moving and wait for the shot ! You were hunting some totally awesome ground with big bucks and in the end hunting next to a caibo. Don't use ur bow to stop ur fall !
Got to love the guys who travel to Ohio to shoot our young bucks, i always thought the point to coming here would be to kill a mature deer of a lifetime. Keep it up and this place won't be any better the south carolina.
I got half way through the video and all I got was a bunch of talking and way too much talking in the stand and driving up and down the road and the worst music in the world. I gave up. I'll go watch someone actually hunt.
Toilet. Blind. Buck. Lol love it. Awesome video man. Way to stay after it!
If you guys see my pic on your ole Lady's instagram I sorry but you know the name of the game hahahahaha jk

Great video! I live in that town so it was nice to see someone hunting the local woods for once
A very hard earned buck . A lot of lessons learned. Congratulations.enjoyed the video
No matter what you think you can't rush setting up the shot. Slow and smooth.
I wanted to cry for you when that buck crossed the creek and busted you drawing on him! Dammit i was praying for you man. Beauty
🙏 he was a good one. Thanks for watching

I think there seeing you with that type camo on cause it doesn't blend at all with the woods your hunting

One way to quit busting put deer. Wear activated carbon scent control 🤷🤷🤷
