For the 3rd skill for the hacking building, why not take cloak and dagger from the stabbing skill tree for the additional crit dmg instead of furious momentum due to its synergy with culling?
Skills of other weapon types does not work for any type other than their assigned weapon type unfortunately.
Cloak an dagger doesnt need stabbing weapon

I know it is finally time to turn to youtube guide when I keep restarting my playthrough because I keep getting stuck fighting the first boss
I disagree with melee being meta, with spells actually scaling in origins (unlike GQ) by using sunstone ingots on your weapon, mage is the superior option in terms of damage
a late game build with hermetic casting and metaphysics can spam aether bolt for some really good damage on bosses
(Spell power also effects healing spells, meaning mages will be better with them in general)

It depends mainly, but yeah, Magic does scale faster than melee, this is the same case in the first game - Grim Quest. However, the melee class is also the same case in GQ, you have better damage potential, with a higher damage floor and ceiling, however, it doesn't scale as fast as magic does, since magic can be upgraded via Blacksmith, AND can be leveled up.
My main character file is level 73 endgame melee build with 25-29 damage, Slashing Type so I can use Flurry (2x attack, +15% damage), and I use Aetherial Edge for the 25% chance to ignore armor, and with 50% crit chance. The build is capable to kill an enemy in 1 turn if either crit/ignore armor procs when using Flurry.
Buffs/Debuffs, both classes have decent spells for this purpose. Reasonably arguable. But melee has other points that are simply can't be argued with;
• Capable of attacking x2 in 1 turn (Flurry)
• Can ignore enemy armor (Aetherial Edge)
• Melee has higher crit potential and crit damage than spells (+50% to +100% damage modifier, with Heavy Handed Perk = +65% to +115%)
• Weapon passive debuff (Cripple, Wound, Stun)
• Offensive spells are not needed for melee = more slots for buffs/debuffs
TL;DR - Magic scales faster with enemies but has lower potential. Melee scales slower with enemies but has higher potential when built right (yes, you have to build it with specific gear/spells/perks/stats/upgrades, melee is the epitome of min-maxing ಥ_ಥ ). Either way, both class can be used at endgame, unlike in GQ where magic is trash lmao.
When i made my 1st build i choose endurance as it sounds fun, buy then I just put everything in spell and complete the game

My spells are dragons breath, thunder strike, cycle of life, disintegrate essence and my abilities are culling, furious momentum, beserker rage, cloak and dagger. What will my next hacking weapon spell and skills be?
Don't take skills of other weapon types, they don't work on anything else other than their intended weapon type.
Just keep taking Hacking skills, after getting all of them, start getting skills in the Arcane Tree

I have no idea how to do the main quest on Grim Tide. It doesn't say anything and the Mystic Grove is the only location I can go, but it just keeps on going...
Check your journal, and if you've gotten the ship, you must repair it, if the ship is at 0% health, only the Mystic Grove is open for exploration.
I'm confused because
How do you get 6-9 dmg on lvl 1 weapon
I have 4-6 damage on lvl2 weapon
My equipment, Everlasting Torch, Mercenary Gauntlets, and Pit Fighter Armor all adds +1 to dmg

I guess I should make a mid-game guide soon, for Spells, take Cycle of Life if melee x mage hybrid, or Aether Bolt if you're mage build, for skills, take another active skill for your weapon type.

The best ones, the one with Arcane Dampener ability is also good if you're playing mage, change Occultist for that one if so.
