ArianOby♈ Thank you so much for your kind comments! I will be producing a new set of videos soon on the topic, - with far better sound equipment - so keep an eye out for them! Thanks again, Best wishes Martha
Hello Martha. Very useful video. Not only for business, but really applicable in any 'process'. I like the simple way in which you inspire clarity. Thanks.
Hi Martha I really liked this! Very well explained! Can you give some examples of how you might use this? what are the trigger points that indicate a process map is needed? Thanks!
This video illustration is one of the best and simple description I have seen. She describes process Mapping in very simple and clear descriptive explanation. I will recommend this teaching to anyone who wants to learn for the first time.
I will like to know how I can create a flow chart for an app im building. I have no idea of flow chart but I understand that i need it to help my developer build the full working applicatioin
Hi Martha, excellent tutorial 👍. Please may I ask where I can get more of your tutorial. About to start a new role which will be more of process mapping. Thanks
"A willing student will always find a teacher!" Thanks Marakavalli. You will be good at your new job because you have already learned that the way to a woman's heart is to compliment her work! So, please contact me at Martha@business-online-learning.com and I will organise something special for you! :-)
Hi I really like this video. The coffee example gives me an understanding of how to use the process, however I would prefer another example using a business setting. I know the process of mapping can be used for any situation but this would make it clearer for me.
What a wonderful gem this process mapping video you have created. While it is true the volume is low it is worth turning up. Thank you Martha, great job breaking down the steps of process mapping in a exacting concise manner. Well done!
That's wonderful and I am delighted at what you have written. This is exactly my intention - to de-mystify a lot of these methods. I think you might have fun too with the topic of "Clarification" that is one of my Problem-Solving pages on the website. Thank you for your comments though. It really brightened up my day!
My very first video has nearly hit 28000 views! I was wondering if people would like to know more about Process Management? #free #training #businesstraining #ISO9001
Kingsley Dougherty Thanks a lot for your kind words, Kingsley. If you would like some support, feel free to contact me using the contact form. www.business-online-learning.com/contact.html I will be providing a really easy program to help people get their processes set up. From Overview map to assessing the processes once they are set up.
JOHN PAUL TRUEMAN Here is some information that should be helpful (Do follow the link at the end of the page to Process Diagrams) www.business-online-learning.com/business-process-maps.html to planning what you want to process and then how to go about it. Otherwise, please feel free to contact me and I will help you out. www.business-online-learning.com/contact.html Best wishes, Martha
Thank you Martha! Easily one of my favorite process videos! It comes in handy as it strengthens my MBA background where we didn't dwell much in this area. The emphasis was on business strategy, corporate finance, marketing, project management, and operations. In operations, the focus was mainly on problem solving process queuing and deadheads--not process mapping per se. Very informative. I actually spend MORE time creating processes in real life. This video allows me to perform that task better. In addition, I tend to use MS Word to make my charts...I'm now looking into gaining experience with Visio which seems to be the better process mapping platform.
Hi Tofigh, It all depends on how it is defined. A dashed line usually means a more tenuous situation in comparison to a "straight" line. For example: Connection between two groups- Full line = Full involvement Dashed line = Participation only when Budget has to be extended. As I say, it is all how you define it.
This was a helpful video - there is a saying that I have heard in business that says "if you find just 1 good idea going to a seminar is worth it" - I enjoyed finding 2 ideas in less than 8 minutes. - Best regards.
Thank you very much Tom! And now, the burning question. Would you mind mentioning which two ideas you found best? Have you seen the other pages on Process Mapping as well? Their links are under the video in the description text. There might be something useful for you there as well? Thanks again! Kind regards Martha
Thanks I felt like a boss after learning this...I'm studying in school and my teacher told me to make a flowchart..I was so annoyed cause I could not find the actual thing and when I found this video I felt so happy.. thanks for your explanation and dont worry the video and audio was very nice and I found it extremely helpful... thanks :)
Martha the video is easy to follow and the example about coffee easy for everyone to understand I am wondering can you do a video on how to do simple data entry into excel and use them with charts and pies
Thank you Sunethra! I am really glad it was useful for you and that it helped to brush up on your knowledge. Thanks to you too for writing such a lovely comment!
Yes, this is a really old video which was my first. I think I did it in 2013. But you can get the official version for 5E on the website - with a lot more very interesting techniques training as well. Have a look: www.business-online-learning.com/business-training-library.html
Works well for me. The way it is step by step outlined in an easy to grasp visual format makes it easier to recall or picture in your mind. Although, this youtube post lacks much volume and was difficult to hear unless it was turned up in contrast to the other training videos I have been watching. Otherwise, I thought it was very well done. Thanks!
Thank you John! I am honoured by your comments. Yes, the mike I was using was not the best. It has since been replaced so all follow-up videos are better. There is more on Process mapping on the site, especially concerning the concept of getting all the processes to interrelate to each other in a "landscape". Also the template of the Process Description is freely available. Thanks again for the share! Martha
Thanks PrestigeSeattle The video was the first video I ever made nearly 3 years ago and I have in the meantime all the proper equipment. It is a case of what to do now with the video...... As so many people were looking at it and benefiting from it, I left it up.. I don't know if I was right in doing that or destroying my reputation by doing so. Soon I will be producing a far better course on Business Process Management. If you would like to be informed when this is ready, perhaps you could subscribe to my newsletter on the website www.business-online-learning.com. But yes, I agree with you completely, the sound is not exactly the best ever! Unfortunately. Best wishes Martha
That is kind of you to write that! Thank you, it makes my day. :-) The more recent videos have better sound quality (once I found out how it works). Keep in contact! :-) Martha
Thanks a lot Delfizzo! I really appreciate your kind comments. There is more info available on our website that might be useful for you. Let me know if there is any further information you may need, I'd be delighted to help! Thanks again, Martha
It is a great pleasure when someone comments like you have - Many thanks! I will add links to the place on our website where we have this and lots more on Process Mapping and Diagrams, up in the Video Description. You may also be interested in the Concept-Mapping and Problem-Solving areas - lots of really interesting and useful techniques there... Thanks a million! Martha
My Pleasure! Thank you for your positive comment. There will be more coming soon.... If you need more information on Business Process Management, do let me know. You can contact me via the Website or via Facebook "BusinessOnlineLearning" Best of Luck!! Martha
Thanks a lot Jan. I really appreciate it when people write such lovely comments as you have! I do hope it makes process mapping easier for you. Remember, there is no perfect way as during the actual mapping you can learn so much. What do they say? It's the journey not the destination that is important. Let me know if I can support you in other ways! It would be my pleasure.
+Syed Imran Thank you so much, Syed. I am glad you found it useful! You can get a lot more information here: www.business-online-learning.com/sitemap.html
+Email Tracer I know and I am sorry. It was the first ever video I produced and I had no proper mike. Luckily like good wine, I improved with age. :-) I hope you found the information useful though. Just a note too, on the website (link given) there is a lot of information about Process management.
Hello Martha, Thank you for explaining and sharing it with everyone. You made the concept sound so easy and simple. I see you made this video 5 years ago. It would be really great to learn more concepts from you in similar style of explanation. I will wait for you to upload new topics. wish you well.
You MAKE my day! :-) Please contact me via the Website as I would like to send you something that may be of interest to you. A lot of new videos are in the process of being launched and are not available just yet. But a huge and hearty thanks for the encouraging words. They mean a lot! Best wishes, Martha
Good outline, but could you please come closer to speaker. I've got my volume up 100 and I've turned yours up as well and I'm still having problems hearing you. You've got awesome stuff but have hard time hearing you, thank you
The first rule with business mapping is you do not talk about business mapping. The second rule with business mapping is YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT BUSINESS MAPPING.
The audio on this video is very poor. At least you can read what is being displayed. Often videos have text that is too small and it is out of focus. You should view your video before you post it.
Tiziana Hetherington Thank you Tiziana! I'm really glad you found it useful. I will be putting a whole course together on this in the coming months. Thanks for taking the time to place a really kind comment.
Gabriel Cerda Thank you kindly for your comment Gabriel. Yes, the audio leaves so much to be desired! It is up now so long I dont know what to do about it! And that is the truth. I have decided to produce a new set of videos on Process Mapping so if you are interested, keep a watchful eye out! Best wishes Martha
Thank You, Susanna. Your kind comments greatly appreciated!
I feel like a guru after this.... the clarity is pitch perfect. Thanks Martha

Thanks for your video, I have question regarding difference between dash line and straight line in cross-functional flowchart. Thanks
Hi Tofigh,
It all depends on how it is defined. A dashed line usually means a more tenuous situation in comparison to a "straight" line.
For example:
Connection between two groups-
Full line = Full involvement
Dashed line = Participation only when Budget has to be extended.
As I say, it is all how you define it.
Quick correction. The I/O rhombus usually means Input/Output rather than on/off.
Great work Martha. Thank you for your information!

You need to re-record with better equipment. My speakers are turned up all the way and the audio is so quiet it is not intelligible.
Thanks PrestigeSeattle The video was the first video I ever made nearly 3 years ago and I have in the meantime all the proper equipment. It is a case of what to do now with the video...... The I/O shape is nothing to do with something being on or off, it's data Input or Output to the process. I/O=Input/Output.
Good detail, but short only the necessary information, not blab, blab.
aperxmim What Information was too much?
Good outline, but could you please come closer to speaker. I've got my volume up 100 and I've turned yours up as well and I'm still having problems hearing you. You've got awesome stuff but have hard time hearing you, thank you
