I feel like there's two sides of comedy now: really funny films that are all linked with the same actors (Superbad, Knocked Up, Pineapple Express, 21 Jump Street & This Is The End) that have many inside or continuous jokes... and then there's films filled with slapstick and a couple of actually funny jokes that are catered to people that have short attention spans. So many people from the latter are clearly watching the wrong video if they think that this video is real.
When I watched this for the first time cpl years ago I genuinely thought this was real and whenever I saw Cera anywhere else on the internet or movies I would think "that guy is such a douche and he doesn't even know it".
This is a spoof on a classic Andy Kaufman skit where you hate the funny. It's all in good sport. Just keep in mind that comedy is not supposed to be serous. In fact, they did this exact same thing in the behind the scenes on the set of Land of the lost with actor Danny McBride in the same foul spot as Michael Cera. I found this funny regardless. :-P
