+Kris Beaulieu Thank you for pointing out that I missed that part. Pinning this comment. You absolutely can. It is completely locked in place in the down and folded up positions. It will not be a problem for you and it smoothly folds up and down even past the point where you would be able to pull the seatback forward.
+m w Without sawing the tabs this mod wouldn't be a mod? I'm assuming you watched the video but here it is. The tabs keep the seat from coming forward at all. By unbolting the seats and gaining access to the tabs, you're able to remove the half inch of the tip. That creates just enough clearance to fold the seat forward when the bottom cushion is at just the right angle. It also prevents the back of the seat from just falling forward.
Pretty sure you just watch too much Fox News & have preconceived ideas of people based of biased media reporting instead of actually visiting places & talking to real people
This video is very accurate. Just did this mod today with the same tools and same instructions. It is a tighter fit than I thought, however, what I thought would fit did (tool kit and jumper cables.
I did this mod today, except I cut them with a slight angle toward the back so when closing they "slide" onto the bracket. It made them easier to open and close. No hard pulling to open or slamming to close. Thanks for the video!
Just got a 2020 Ram 3500 on Saturday and almost walked away from the deal because of the gun storage issue. I never leave home without it. Thanks for this incredible info
The vent in the back is for when doors are closed. The change in air pressure inside the cab pushes the retainers open and prevents a window shattering ect. They’re designed to only open when there is positive cab air pressure to equalize to atmospheric pressure.
Those vents can develop a leak and put rain water behind the floor cover material under the back seats. I recommend putting silicone around the vent perimeter to prevent a leak from developing. My 2015 had that issue.
+Thomas Brown absolutely agreed and my pleasure. Messing with seating position scares me and this doesn't reduce the strength of the mounting points at all.
+Thomas Brown Nope! The back of the seat reaches its highest point when the seat bottom is at about a 45 degree angle. It is completely locked in place when the seat bottom is all the way down or all the way up, and requires quite a bit of pulling force to come forward even when at the correct angle to open it. Hopefully that makes sense but let me know if it doesn't.
This is way better than lifting the seat! Awesome man, thanks for the heads up. I was looking at different ways to lift the rear seat to get it over that. This will work so much better. Thank you.
Chris Kohnke- I'm thinking of picking up a Laramie here in the next few months myself. How are you liking it so far? Never had a Dodge or a diesel truck before, only gas so this is all new for me haha.
+F*ckin' Sanders haha awesome man, it was my first experience as well and it has been amazing. I love this truck probably more than I should love an inanimate object.
I'm a ford guy but I really enjoy your videos. Also very nice truck, sorry about your first one but at least you were able to order one exactly the way you wanted.
You have no idea how much I appreciate this. I've been trying to figure out something for some time now and this answered all the questions I had. I'll look at starting the project soon and let you know. Thanks!
It's neat and all, but I would actually be putting a bed on top of the folded down seats with wedges to make it a flat laying surface. I'll be covering the back wall with a flag or something. Maybe I'll mount my VR80 and spare mags back there lol. Cool video man, I hope a 23 3500 crew cab is similar.
I would suggest putting a couple of small bags of the activated charcoal just to help with the potential condensation are use them in my gun safe just for a little added protection
I ironically found this video trying to figure out how to replace those ****ing vents. They will leak. Apparently the newer ones are less prone to leaking, but right now everything in my 14 ram below those vents are soaked and mildewing. That being said this is a hell of an idea, and after I get my vent issues resolved may do it myself.
PNWreckage. I built a custom subwoofer enclosure that runs all the way back to the wall a drilled some padded brackets I made direct to the sub box with Velcro straps. Even have plenty of room for a small amp rack, audio interface, capacitor on one side still had room for an ammo box next to my shotgun. No real issues other than the seats sitting about an inch higher. Slight loss in rear visibility but worth it. Love the AR by the way.
Another well-made video PNW! I have a 2010 Ram 2500 SLT with full bench seats so fortunately I only had to deal with 4 bolts. I had to use a breaker bar but the bolts were easy to access. I didn't completely remove the bolts. Only loosened them enough to get the seat-back hooks to clear. *The mod worked perfectly*. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. God bless!
very badass!!! How much if you dont mind takinga pic or something is left of the hook? The one that attaches...the problem is in an accident you dont want to fold your passengers flat as a pancake...I assume there is plenty of hook to keep that seat upright.....I really like this mod!!!!!!!!!
I cut the ears in the same spot on the small seat just as you did. Seat back still doesnt fold out. Took forever for my vibrating cutting tool to cut those ears off, I didnt want to take seat back out to cut more off so will leave it be for now
Cool Mod but that ragged edge of the insulation needs attention. Suggest using some edging on the flap section that would allow it to overlap the permanent piece with a few small pieces of velcro to hold it in place. Perhaps a wide black vinyl tape . If professionally done, one would not even notice the hidden area even with the back down.
I Guess my concern is ....what happens if you have a crash.. does this modification compromise the safety of the seat for rear passengers? head on collision.. i can see that seat coming loose and instantly kill passengers in the back...
+steve Truth Great question and thank you for bringing it up. That concern is exactly why I didn't go for the alternative mod, which is raising the rear seats with spacers so the hooks clear the mounting loops. Cutting the tips of the metal pieces means it can only come forward when the seat bottom is folded almost all the way up. The seatback articulates up and down as you raise and lower the seat bottom, and it stays securely in place whether it's fully up or fully down. I inspected the tabs after the crash with my first truck (not a head-on collision) and saw no concerns. The seatback weighs very little and the mounts retain their integrity even with the tips removed.
I like that better than the washer/spacer technique... Although when I decide to do a sub box and rack for my RF and stereo amps I will have to do the washers for more clearance under the seat.. Any idea what that module does to the left of the vent? Dodge has a neat way of hiding various modules in weird places.
+Gmtail Agreed but totally get the subwoofer clearance piece. I googled every number on that I could find and there is almost no information.. but my guess based on what I could find is it's related to the keyless/proximity feature.
You certainly could be correct because dodge is always changing things around. However I'm fairly certain that the keyless functions go through the WIN module, which is where the push button/where you put the FOB. It could be something as complex as the ABS module. My 11's was under the middle front bench style seat. They don't like them tampered with because on Chrysler vehicles this module contains the "black box" information and they hide them. However there isn't a lot of wires so I doubt it's that. It does kinda look like the modules that go in the door and operate the door locks and power mirrors. So it may be something as simple as a control box for those under back seat lights you have. This is just a guess of course. Great storage area by the way.
HI there! Would you mind letting us know where you picked up the supports (J hooks and velcro) for the AR holster? I have a Sub2000 tucked in a bag under eh rear seat but this is far cleaner!
That's a great idea but I wouldn't cut away from the latch if you actually raise the seat 1in with anything that doesn't give like a spacer you can do the same thing. I used rubber coil spring spacer. Cut them in half and drilled a hole in them little bigger than my bolt. Then buy bolts exactly 1in longer. Ta da
Just make some 5/8” spacers and you don’t have to cut anything. Raises the seat up a bit but it’s hardly noticeable. My sub box came with the spacers to make the box fit but it also allowed the seat back to fold down. J/s
Nice video! Lots of usable space in the compartment behind the rear seats once you cut it open. How did you cut the opening and where did you find the clamps. How much room/space does the 3rd gen Dodge 2500 trucks have behind the rear seats. Do the 4th gen trucks have more space back there?
What is the black box next to the vent with the wires coming out of it. I'm trying to add an amp rack to the back wall but I don't know what that thing is to unhook it and move it yet
My truck came from the factory with one broken white tab...bumps make the rear seat rattle like a piece of shit lol. Anyone with the similar issue I used a bit of air line hose with zip ties to keep it on. No more noise over bumps.
+Gerb It I don't think I can bring myself to drill out a piece of the turbo lol. If it were reversible like the 3rd gens I would be all over it but some people report that it's borderline annoying. You thinking about it?
Got to ask a dumb question.... why go through all that cutting up of your nice truck when you could just put it in a case behind the seat ..... it’s not for tactical or quick deployment or if you have a cpl just run a ar pistol just asking
+QRC I'm just guessing here but I think it might have to be a smaller diameter sub and a very low pro box. The problem though is the fold up action of the seats. It decreases the room back there by about 50% when folded up.
You can put quite a few premade boxes under the seat and they sound really good with the right subwoofer. However a few boxs require you to boost the seat a bit with spacers so the box goes back further and allows more box space for more powerful subwoofers. When you so the spacers the seat will fold forward like it does here, however you lose some head room.
Yeah it was awesome, I refused to return it so they did an automatic update which cut the battery to 40% fully charged. So I exchanged it and bought a 7+. I absolutely love the 7+ now.
Fucking Awesome!!! I just picked up a 1500, I thought the rear seats folded down lol because of those nylon straps. Good to know I can store my m&p 15 back there.
Not hating on your mod...this $hits sick...dont know what state your in ,i just know that if you get caught with something like this in california its a felony... i had one similar like this in a truck got pulled over ???? And now have a felony...just saying...but still clean AF 👍👌
Don't know why RAM/FIAT.. did not install a release for the back seat, no matter how little of space . It's a great place to store emergency clothing,, blankets ,,rope,,etc. But cool idea , Not sure why one needs to travel with an AR-15 ....but in an approved case .
With the tabs cut can you leave the seat up will it fall while you drive since i carry stuff in the back ?
+Kris Beaulieu Thank you for pointing out that I missed that part. Pinning this comment.
You absolutely can. It is completely locked in place in the down and folded up positions. It will not be a problem for you and it smoothly folds up and down even past the point where you would be able to pull the seatback forward.
so what was the point of sawing the tabs in the first place again?
+m w Without sawing the tabs this mod wouldn't be a mod? I'm assuming you watched the video but here it is. The tabs keep the seat from coming forward at all. By unbolting the seats and gaining access to the tabs, you're able to remove the half inch of the tip. Just unbolt the seat and add some 5/8” spacers and no need to cut anything. J/s
871jamie that raises the seat and reduces the smount if force necessary to sheer the bolts. This is a much better option.
Two things i never thought i would see in the same frame..........a portland trailblazers hat and an AR LOL your behind enemy lines brother😁
Pretty sure you just watch too much Fox News & have preconceived ideas of people based of biased media reporting instead of actually visiting places & talking to real people

Great comment, thank you
I did this mod today, except I cut them with a slight angle toward the back so when closing they "slide" onto the bracket. It made them easier to open and close. No hard pulling to open or slamming to close. Thanks for the video!
It’s a hidden spot, it’s not suppose to be easy to access lol. that’s ruins the whole purpose
finally found someone who know how to do this efficiently, you have a new subscriber :)
+mag 357 awesome man and welcome!
Just got a 2020 Ram 3500 on Saturday and almost walked away from the deal because of the gun storage issue. I never leave home without it. Thanks for this incredible info

Been trying to find how moisture getting into my 16 ram . Maybe this is finally the cure . Doing this mod and finding out
Keep up the great work, I just picked up a truck yesterday. I find your videos VERY helpful. Thank you..
I like this idea better than the idea of raising the entire bench. Thanks!
+Thomas Brown absolutely agreed and my pleasure. Messing with seating position scares me and this doesn't reduce the strength of the mounting points at all.
have you ever had any issues of the seat being able to come down when you didn't want it to?
+Thomas Brown Nope! The back of the seat reaches its highest point when the seat bottom is at about a 45 degree angle. It is completely locked in place when the seat bottom is all the way down or all the way up, and requires quite a bit of pulling force to come forward even when at the correct angle to open it. This is way better than lifting the seat! Awesome man, thanks for the heads up. I was looking at different ways to lift the rear seat to get it over that. This will work so much better. Thank you.
+Michael A absolutely agreed! The idea of raising the seat made me super nervous.
Great mod but I live in Canada so no ar for me but I can hide a 12” meatball sub from my old lady
+Victor Oliveira that is actually a way better idea than the AR 😂
A can of Pringles would fit nicely next to your meatball sub. Have the whole package.
lmao! 🤣
Canada 🇨🇦 bend backwards 🤣
Victor Oliveira God Bless America - I’m from the UK so the discovery over there won’t contain arsenal but my Ram 1500 in FL can house the 12 gauge 😎
Just ordered my 2500 Ram Laramie today. I'll be doing this mod for sure. Cool videos bro.
+Chris Kohnke Thanks man and congratulations. Send me an email if you want a tip on tracking it.
Chris Kohnke- I'm thinking of picking up a Laramie here in the next few months myself. How are you liking it so far? Never had a Dodge or a diesel truck before, only gas so this is all new for me haha.

I'm a ford guy but I really enjoy your videos. Also very nice truck, sorry about your first one but at least you were able to order one exactly the way you wanted.
+Ford Ranger2004 thanks man, I really appreciate it and am glad you're here.
Thank you for showing that! I've wanted to hide a long gun behind the seat but wasn't sure it would work out well. Looks like it will!
+Grant V hell yeah man! That is exactly why I posted this video. Email me if you have questions pnwreckage@gmail.com
You have no idea how much I appreciate this. I've been trying to figure out something for some time now and this answered all the questions I had. I'll look at starting the project soon and let you know. Thanks!
+Grant V this is the reason I posted it man. Thank you!
"Shaken or Stirred Mr Bond" Another great video. I will be making the jump from Ford to the Ram at the first of next year. Can't wait.
+Jh Silverstar Haha shaken! Thanks man and congrats on the upcoming adventure
I'm thinking; ok, this is a soso video... Kind of interested... And then BAM at 3:38; you have my full attention!
You don’t have to cut the tabs. It remove the U brackets on the back wall and remount them upside down or lower them 3/4”.
That only works on 3rd gens
Thank you for this post!! I was about to buy the kit that comes to 45 bux shipped. Turned those things upside down and voila!! 3rd Gen 3500 here.
Cheers!
I would suggest putting a couple of small bags of the activated charcoal just to help with the potential condensation are use them in my gun safe just for a little added protection
Great work, thanks for figuring that out, that'll save me a ton of time!
AWSOME VID NOW I CAN SMUGGLE 150 POUNDS OF DOPE ACROSS THE US BORDER IN MY RAM 3500
EFF YEAH BRO!!!!!
Another great vid added to my to-do list when I get my 2500!
+Tommy Humphrey lol I'll try to keep you busy
Thanks for Tommy Humphrey
Rocket luncher? 🤣 lmao.. love it.. nice mod.
Well didnt know i needed this. But now im bolting to ars in the rear of my truck
Peel away the door vynl on the b pillars it’s a gorgeous truck underneath and reall cleans up
You don’t have to cut the tabs. Just remove U brackets that are mounted. He back wall and invert them or remount them 3/4” lower.
That is awesome! No wasted space now.
this dude is a genius
This dudette is my favorite
I ironically found this video trying to figure out how to replace those ****ing vents. They will leak. Apparently the newer ones are less prone to leaking, but right now everything in my 14 ram below those vents are soaked and mildewing.
That being said this is a hell of an idea, and after I get my vent issues resolved may do it myself.
Nice job bro. I did mine 2 yrs ago but with spacers for both sides. I keep a Binnelli 12 guage in mine. Lots of useful space back there.
+Daniel Aguado Thanks man and nice hardware you keep back there. How did you mount it? Also, any impact on passenger headroom?
PNWreckage. I built a custom subwoofer enclosure that runs all the way back to the wall a drilled some padded brackets I made direct to the sub box with Velcro straps. Even have plenty of room for a small amp rack, audio interface, capacitor on one side still had room for an ammo box next to my shotgun. Thanks for the heads up! Needed that
Just did this today... now I have a shot for the 12 gauge
+Tyson Ward badass
Such a clean mod...
Do u have any more?
+Tyson Ward Love this mod and I wish there was anything even close to as cool. The intake baffle is honestly the only other neat/cheap one I know of
2011 1500 quad. Cut the tabs. No dice. Shimmed the seat up in the air another 3/4”, still wouldn’t unlatch.
Good way to clean the back window too. My hands are to big to clean mine without a struggle.
+knightwing4 Great point
Probably why I'll do this to mine! But in the off chance that I finally get an AR it'll serve that purpose too 😎
Nice video. Curious what the measured space is behind the seat. Looking to add a 6.9 inch wide bazooka tube.
very badass!!!

Took forever for my vibrating cutting tool to cut those ears off, I didnt want to take seat back out to cut more off so will leave it be for now
not too shabby. pretty damn clever.
Thanks man

I live just south of you near Eugene. Couldn't believe a Portlandian was packing. Love it😂
+ramsey 900 who you calling a Portlandian??? Hahaha
I'll be doing that mod this week.
What mount did you use for the gun? Looking for something to mount my ar back there.
just came off a 5 year bid with this stash spot! they caught my assault rifle and took me to prison🤣
I like that better than the washer/spacer technique... Although when I decide to do a sub box and rack for my RF and stereo amps I will have to do the washers for more clearance under the seat.. Rf module
HI there! Would you mind letting us know where you picked up the supports (J hooks and velcro) for the AR holster? I have a Sub2000 tucked in a bag under eh rear seat but this is far cleaner!
By the time you get to the gun you’ll have about 10 zombies chewing on you already.
That's a great idea but I wouldn't cut away from the latch if you actually raise the seat 1in with anything that doesn't give like a spacer you can do the same thing. Do you have a link to where you bought the hooks that you hang the weapon on?
2015 and up use different latches not able to flip.
how much space would you say there is behind there? would it fit a viair compressor?
Oh yeah great videos!!!!
+Frank A Thanks man
Very interesting modification. I look forward to your next update. Until then I watch dashcam videos of car crashes in Russia.
+METALITHrevetments 😂
+METALITHrevetments No finer TH-cam experience
Real tears over here definitely a vibe
How many inches of room is behind the seats? Can you fit a 6 inch thick safe back there?
Thank you for this video!!!
+E Mase Happy to help man
Nice that’s a clean and simple mod . Where did you buy the at mounts at
Thanks man. Link in description.
super awesome.
thanks for sharing
+Shawn J Heck yeah man
Nice video! Lots of usable space in the compartment behind the rear seats once you cut it open. How did you cut the opening and where did you find the clamps. How much room/space does the 3rd gen Dodge 2500 trucks have behind the rear seats. Do the 4th gen trucks have more space back there?
I looked online and found that the hooks he used are about 5.7 in wide, so you should have at least that much space i'd think
What is the black box next to the vent with the wires coming out of it. I'm trying to add an amp rack to the back wall but I don't know what that thing is to unhook it and move it yet
With your AR like that is it considered a concealed weapon?
My truck came from the factory with one broken white tab...bumps make the rear seat rattle like a piece of shit lol. Anyone with the similar issue I used a bit of air line hose with zip ties to keep it on. No more noise over bumps.
+Frank A That sucks but great fix!
Might have missed it, but is it the same for both sides/seats?
This is absolutely awsome. Can this be don’t in my 2011 2500 crew cab?
Yes, yes it can!
Awsome thanks! What gun rack did u use I’m gonna do the same thing. Where did u find the one u have?
I think it's in the description but if not I can track it down. The TH-cam app sucks so I can't see it
The link is there. Thanks dude!
Hell yeah! Adhesive is still strong and I'm at 42k
Great vid. Subbed
+screwdin Thanks man, happy to have you here
awesome video man! Would you ever consider doing a video on how to remove the turbo silencer ring??
+Gerb It I don't think I can bring myself to drill out a piece of the turbo lol. If it were reversible like the 3rd gens I would be all over it but some people report that it's borderline annoying. You thinking about it?
Gerb It its extremely simple. drill out three pins holding the ring in and let it scream
Where can I get that under seat storage you have?!?! Thanks!
How much space is there between the seat and wall? Thinking about putting subs behind the seat
Instant subscribe nice vid bro
Got to ask a dumb question.... why go through all that cutting up of your nice truck when you could just put it in a case behind the seat ..... it’s not for tactical or quick deployment or if you have a cpl just run a ar pistol just asking
Like a case laying in the back? Or do you mean behind the rear seat? The cutting is just for quick access. No other cutting required.
I like it. Thx😊
Do you have a locking box in the center console? could be another place to safely keep equipment? I am looking for a good set up.
Great mod by the way. Do you know if your mod will work on an 2018 ram 1500?
Yes it will
This is awesome. Thank you for the great vids. This particular video sold me as becoming a subscriber! Lol 😝
+Ryan Jurgens lol very happy to hear that since I'm sure it has been the reason some people have not subscribed
That was pretty cool
That is the coolest s**t ever lol. I swapped crew cab seats into my quad cab so they already folds down like that. Hmmm🤔
Do you think theres enough room to put a low profile subwoofer behind the seat?
+QRC I'm just guessing here but I think it might have to be a smaller diameter sub and a very low pro box. The problem though is the fold up action of the seats. It decreases the room back there by about 50% when folded up.
You can put quite a few premade boxes under the seat and they sound really good with the right subwoofer. However a few boxs require you to boost the seat a bit with spacers so the box goes back further and allows more box space for more powerful subwoofers. When you so the spacers the seat will fold forward like it does here, however you lose some head room.
I think Rockford fosgate makes a custom inclosed sub for the rams . Around $1300 +|-
+MrSilentman08 that's awesome but the price is not lol
Obcom makes a amplified pre loaded sub box for around $350 for stock sub location.
I accidentally cut one of the wires behind the felt. What are they. Help. Please
Nice quality video! What Camera do you use?
+BeerDrinking TruckGuy thanks man. It's an Apeman A70
+PNWreckage whoops this video was actually my cell phone. S7 edge
Yeah my note 7 was legit before they made me return it.
+BeerDrinking TruckGuy I waited almost 2 years for that phone. It was banned about a week before I was eligible for an upgrade. Such regret
Yeah it was awesome, I refused to return it so they did an automatic update which cut the battery to 40% fully charged. So I exchanged it and bought a 7+. I absolutely love the 7+ now.
Does this method work for the newest generation rams?
Thanks for taking the time to make this, I own a 2012 1500 , can anyone confirm it will work for my year?
If it's a crew cab then yes.
Theres no chance that u could fit a sub box behind the seats ?
What brand are the hooks?
Fucking Awesome!!! I just picked up a 1500, I thought the rear seats folded down lol because of those nylon straps. Good to know I can store my m&p 15 back there.
What year is your ram. I have a 2012. Looks slightly different but i was wondering if i can do the same mod
+Justin Garrett 2017 and yes you should be able to
is there an equal amount of space on the pass side?
What kind of brackets are those( who makes them)?
Not hating on your mod...this $hits sick...dont know what state your in ,i just know that if you get caught with something like this in california its a felony... i had one similar like this in a truck got pulled over ???? And now have a felony...just saying...but still clean AF 👍👌
Is there enough room to fit a shallow sub back there??
+Allan Coates pure speculation but yes, I think so
Where did you get the hooks?
Cool i wanted to put my speaker back there
You don't have to do any of this at all! Just raise your seat a half inch with washers. Did mine in 20 mins.

Don't know why RAM/FIAT.. did not install a release for the back seat, no matter how little of space . It's a great place to store emergency clothing,, blankets ,,rope,,etc. But cool idea , Not sure why one needs to travel with an AR-15 ....but in an approved case .
+Jim Cash. Need? No need but it's something i wanted because I think it's cool.
Awesome!
Badass!
So you cut the panel behind the seat? It looks like shit
