That's my favorite color and I love the shape 😊🥰🥰💟💟 It WAS very unique with the purple resin top, now just ok. 😞😞 The purple resin on the rim really made the piece pop 🙂
Thank you very much!
I was firmly in the 'wood rim' camp. Then I saw the polished purple resin and was swayed over to Team Resin and thought there's no way I'd like the wood rim version. Then I saw the finished piece with the wood and am absolutely in love with it! What a rollercoaster this video has been! 😂
That is awesome! Thanks
Totally agree with this comment 😊
Beautiful
You took the words right out of my mouth!
So beautiful!
The top is heart shaped too ❤
When you first ask if we wanted resin or wood, I thought I liked the resin! But now that I see it, I live the wood much better!
Thank you very much
I liked the look with the resin, but then when I saw how it turned out without it, I liked the final version better. You do such lovely work and I really enjoy watching your videos every week.
Thank you so much!
I agree, I voted to keep the resin on the rim, but I think it looks really good like this.
Absolutely beautiful. I'm sure the owner appreciates the time and effort you put into it. You've become a master craftsman of wood and resin turning.
I look forward to seeing the peacock project next week!
Thank you very much! I really appreciate it!
I very much like your commentary with your thoughts, opinions, strategies, and decisions. It helps to be exposed to a variety of points of view and techniques. It is like having more tools in your toolbox.
Thank you very much!
Jim, this turned out to be a really amazing piece. It was well worth the wait. Thank you again for sharing your work.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks!
The reason I started watching you and your woodworking is because you add resin to a lot of your projects. Makes your projects stunning. my word I think your work is beautiful!
Wow, thank you!
Absolutely in love with the wood top. The purple was too overwhelming for me. This piece is truly a beautiful masterpiece!
Thank you so much!
Ahhhhhhh, my mind loved the idea of wood AND/TO resin, but you are the person who churns out amazing pieces week after week.
Thank you! Cheers!
That was a gorgeous vase. The wood top worked well, although I do think a resin top would have been better. The wood and branches give the vase a distinct character and you should definitely do a similar piece again.
Thank you! Cheers!
I love it!!! That foot puts it over the top 5!
Thanks 😊
Oh my goodness. That’s stunning. It’s amazing when the finish goes on and the piece just pops.
Thank you so much!
I voted for resin but now that I see it down to the wood, it is stunningly beautiful. Wood people - you were so right!
Thank you very much!
Thanks for all the effort you put into this. It's definitely in the top 3...let alone top 5.
Wow, thanks!
I couldn't handle the "to be continued" and waited to watch the whole project in one go. 😄
Sorry to do that to you. Thanks for watching
@@SpragueWoodturning no problem! This came out beautifully. Red Oak may be a pain to work with but it sure looks pretty.
Beautiful work! I liked it with the resin, yet it turned out gorgeous without. The limbs had their own traits which just added to the piece. It's the things that take so much time & work that end up as masterpieces. 👍 Definitely a masterpiece. Thanks for sharing your artistry!
Thank you so much!
I voted no resin and I like it. Love the piece. As always, you make me look forward to Friday morning all week.
Awesome! Thank you!
Jim! This is definitely in your top 3! I absolutely LOVE the wood rim! I did not like the resin rim…maybe if seen in natural light?the end result is STUNNINGLY GORGEOUS!!!!!!
Thanks a bunch! I really appreciate it!
Nothing like blood sweat and fear. LOL Once a motorhead, always one. The vase looks "Outstanding". Another fine piece of art, great work sir.🌿 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you very much!
The bowl was a huge effort, Jim. Nicely done!
Thanks 👍
Removing the resin was definitely the right choice. Turned out beautifully.
Thank you! Cheers!
I like the character in the wood, it looks better without the resin.
Thanks
Taking off the purple resin rim was perfect.
The wood is so beautiful, way better!
Thank you! Cheers!
I was on the resin team, but now I'm a fan of the wood. Beautiful Vase!!
Thank you! Cheers!
I was a resin person. But I switched to wood with the final product It highlights the resin beautifully.
Thanks 😊
I was one of the viewers saying to keep the resine... At the end, I prefer without 😃. The dark brown of the rime "link" with the dark brown surrending the branches, giving the entire focus to the resine. I love it! 🤩. Have a great week!
Thank you very much
Ok, I’ll admit it, I voted for the resin rim, and when you stopped just prior to grinding it off, I nearly shouted “It’s perfect, leave the resin!” I loved the resin rim. But when you ground it off (as I was grinding my teeth), then added the finish … just WOW!! I can admit when I’m wrong. I liked the resin, I love the wood rim!! That’s why, in my comment on part 1, I hedged my bet (or my vote) by saying “I like the resin, but I trust your eye.” I suppose I was trusting the eye of the other commenters who voted for grinding it off. It’s beautiful, I really love the dark wood rim!!!
Thank you very much!
LOL. You set a timer on my phone too while I was watching your video.
That happened when my wife and I were vetting the video before uploading. We must have similar voices, lol. Thanks for watching!
This is so very cool. Winter is not my favorite time of year, but knowing you're in your shop turning blah into beauty makes it better.
Love the humor Jim. 😄
Lol, thanks for watching
I thought the resin was best until I saw the wood...The top is gorgeous.
Thanks 😊
Thanks for all who voted to remove the resin from the top! I kept thinking of ‘Seymour’ from Lil’ Shop of Horrors/creatures inSuper Mario Bros that come up from the green pipes! Thanks as always Jim for your patience & humility as your process unfolds!
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching
Wow! I was one of the ones that voted to keep the resin, but boy, I'm so pleased that you removed it!!! Looks so much more refined without. Very beautiful piece.
Thank you! Cheers!
It is just STUNNING!!!! It looked good with the purple resin on the top, but it looks better without it. I just love it!
Thank you so much!
I was one of the people who said to leave the resin on but I think taking it off was an excellent choice the wood grain is just georgious I Thoroughly enjoyed watching thank you for sharing with us God-bless
Thank you very much
I was all about the resin top, until I saw what it looked like with the wood top! Beautiful!
Thank you! Cheers!
Outstanding vase! The deep purple is stunning. I think the right decision was made to remove the resin as the wood rim gives it a much richer look. This is in my top 5 of resin projects you've done. Just beautiful, Jim. 💜
I have to agree 100%
Thank you very much!
Jim, this was a tough one, but as always, you pulled it off. The vase is beautiful with the natural wood top.
Really looking forward to next week’s peacock project 🦚
Thanks again!
I love the lack of a straight rim. Another beautiful art piece.
Thanks 😊
I liked the resin, but I’ve gotta say that the natural edge looks amazing. In a word: natural. Great work, as always. PS, I really enjoy your typed comments as the video goes 😂
Thanks a bunch!
Without resin on rim is way better!
Beautiful piece. Well done sir!
Thank you very much!
Those voids will drive you nuts, they just pop up. The bowl turned out great. Keep up the great work
Thanks, will do!
I have to say I prefer the resin rim. But having witnessed the effort put into this makes me really appreciate the beauty of the work.
Thanks James!
I didn’t vote on the rim as I’m not visual. Now that I see it Jim it’s stunning. A vase doesn’t need to be symmetrical and you really outdid yourself. ❤
Thank you very much!
I was one of the resin votes but I believe it worked out really well that is a beautiful piece
Thank you very much
What a beautiful vase. I was all for the resin top, but once it was completed without the resin, it was more beautiful. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much 😊
Now that I see it finished, I like it with out the resin rim. Good job. 👍👍👍👍👍😎
Thanks 👍
Designer epoxy really helped you turn a wonderful piece. Great job, Jim. Florida is calling you away from that snow.
Na, toooo hot, lol. Thanks for watching!
You made the right decision Jim. The bowl looks much better with the wood rim. Lots of resin on the sides so it’s not needed on the rim. Beautiful vase. Designer Epoxy.
Agreed, thanks!
I absolutely love the wood rim. It looks so much more natural and less "plastic" than the resin rim did. I also like the 2 resin streaks running through the rim. They add an interesting symmetry to the wonky rim. Beautiful work, again.
I totally agree! Thanks!
Loving the process! Drinking coffee, eating a Cinnabon and enjoying they day better with this video! Happy Friday! Wish me a Happy Birthday! 🥂🎂💜🤘
Happy birthday! Gimme some of that Cinnabon! lol
Happy birthday🎂. What a great way to start your celebration. Enjoy.😍😍
Happy Birthday, thanks for watching!
Gorgeous! The purple veins of resin against the dark wood grain is beautiful!
Thank you very much!
Mr. Sprague, at first I thought I would prefer the resin for the natural edge. Now that I see the resin removed front the top edge, I really like the wood natural edge. Well done, sir!
Thank you very much
I love the wood rim!! The purple is a great accent to the wood so Im glad you removed the purple from the rim! Thank you Jim!
Glad you like it, thanks for watching!
Put the resin back on the edge!!!!! Just kidding you made the right choice. The turning is awesome!!!!!
Thank you very much
I really thought I'd prefer the resin ON. But no, I really love the wood finish! Who'd a thunk it 🤣❤️🇬🇧
Lol, Thank you so much!
So much meticulous work on this piece but absolutely worth it. It turned out beautiful!!
Designer Epoxy! 😊
Thank you so much!
I really like the resin ground off the top a little better than I thought I would… Nice job! 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Thank you very much!
Lovely work Jim. You mentioned " resin people and wood people ". I love your resin pieces. I also think the non resin pieces are beautiful. Each technique has its applications. And you are the artist.
Thank you very much
I was definitely rooting for the resin top . . . but once you took that down, I became a wood top fan ! Nice job, Jim !
Thanks 👍
I like it now with the wood. The resin top made it look like a big fish with purple lipstick.
Lol, I see it now. Thanks
Hi Jim. I'm a bit late to the party on this one as I've been away for a few days. This turned out really nicely indeed. At one point I was kicking myself for voting to take it down to the wood, but it really does look fantastic. You should definitely be proud of yourself for this one! 😎👍
Many thanks!
I thought keep the resin at first, but even before you took it to the wood rimmed. I wasn't as happy with the resin rim as I expected. Totally love this piece it's another favorite. Love the Designer Epoxy .
Thank you very much!
All those curves, fascinating, the eye keeps traveling around. Fine piece!
Thank you very much
Came out AWESOME Jim even with the top Epoxy removed. Designer Epoxy.
Thanks 👍
Well Jim, what can I say. This is one of my favorite pieces. You really did an excellent job.
Thanks for watching!
I personally like the wood edge. That dark purple was a home run in my book.
Thank you very much
It makes me think of a van Gogh painting. Gorgeous.
A labour of love, for sure.
Agreed, thanks for watching!
@@SpragueWoodturning Every time, bud! Fellow Ontarian, I wish I could have a big shop and do stuff, but ODSP is a bitch...
¯\_( ͡ಠ ʖ̯ ͡ಠ)_/¯
The vase is absolutely beautiful and looks so much better with the dark wood rim
Thanks so much 😊
I like the wood better. Beautiful as always.
Thank you!
I absolutely love the colour and the way the resin turned the top rim darker. Its looked good with the resin top rim, but I prefer it like you did in this video. It adds a more contrasting colour to the top. Great video Jim, keep'em coming.
Thank you! Cheers!
I think it has a more elegant look without the purple resin on top. Glad you send it off! It turned out really nice great job.
Thank you! 😊
I'm glad that you took off the resin around the top. With it, I kept having "Audrey II" vibes. Love the final result! Very lovely! Take care and much love from Colorado Springs!
Thanks so much!
Either way it’s beautiful … wish I could buy it , however I got to see it being created❤❤
Thanks so much!
My original vote was to leave the resin, but I really like it without the resin. Great job.
Thanks for watching
This is another beautiful piece! I like both tops equally. The wood does glow, so it is lovely. I do like purple, so the resin top would have been fine, too. I love it!
Thanks again!
Beautiful bowl, but I’m one of the “leave the purple resin on the edge” people. It looked like an open mouth, with purple lips, lol. It was IMO even more beautiful, but hey, democracy😉
Either way, it’s beautiful, that purple is such a rich, lush colour. Thanks Jim. 🌸
Thanks 😊
Ok I understand that I’m 10 months late to the party. But you 10,000% went the right way. That wood looks a-may-zing wow!
lol they’re all in your top 5. 😂😂
Lol, thanks!
Initially I thought the resin would be nice: I finally prefer the coloured wood on the top. Really nice! Great finish
Thank you very much!
designer epoxy.
A lot of hard work but a beautiful result. I voted for a wood rim. At one point I thought I was wrong but in the end I liked it better with the wood rim. It was quite the project! Great video.
Thanks for voting!
Designer epoxy. It is beautiful and your perseverance is remarkable!
Thank you very much!
no resin was the right way to go! Great job on that Plumb crazy bowl.
Thanks 👍
I really liked the purple rim, but I respect the choices made by the artisan. Fine work once again!
Thank you very much!
I thought for sure that the resin top was the way to go. A little shaping around the top to make it even, would have looked fantastic. But then you brought it down to the wood, and holy crap! 😍😍😍 Love the dark wood top! It gives the piece just the right amount of oomph!
Agreed, thanks!
Glad you took the resin off Jim ~ looks awesome in the end😀
Thanks 👍
Leaving just the wood, that rim is beautiful
Thanks
Jim that vase is stunning.😘😘 I loved the look with the resin better and you chose an amazing colour. Please do another with the resin left on.💋💋🙏🙏take care stay safe enjoy moving all that wonderful snow❄❄
I will try! Thanks
Absolutely beautiful piece of art. No resin rim is definitely the best look. Resin rim took away from the resin insert sides. Definitely on of your very best piece ❤ designer epoxy
Thank you very much!
Designer Epoxy
Jim, it turned out nice. I think removing the resin rim was the right choice. With the resin on there it covers where the veins show through to the top. This way they actually show. Of course, I still think a resin finish would have been stellar.
Thank you very much
It turned out a very unique and beautiful Vase. Excellent work.
Thank you so much!
Sangria! It looks like a refreshing pitcher of sangria with slices of oranges in it when lit from inside. For all the pain, I think the finished vase was worth the effort.
Thank you very much
Pulm crazy purple with the true shaker hood!😀👍
You got er! Thanks
I liked it both ways. I think no resin on the rim turned out great. I totally get the plum crazy color reference. Every time I see a car that color I notice it. Purple is my favorite color so it's only natural. Great job and a beauty of a vase. Designer Epoxy
Awesome! Thank you!
Really beautiful, quit the battle but you took it down. Nice job Jim
Thanks 😊
Hi Jim I enjoyed part one and part two didn't dispoint, you really had a job on your hands with the voids and having to fill them. I'm glad you got rid of the resin and just had the wood. The vase is really unique and beautiful and awesome, you did a great job. You are a master woodturner and resinturner. Amanda xx
Many thanks!
I have to agree, this is one of the best pieces I have seen you turn. I am a resign guy, but I picked wood and I think you made the right choice. Very impressed with the designer epoxy, the purple in this piece is awsome. Thank you for the video and the education, enjoy this channel.
Thanks for watching!
I was for the resin but after finishing I'm definitely no resin. You do wonderful work.
Thank you!
As I said last video...this is an absolutely beautiful piece and I wish I could have it for my birthday.
Sorry, maybe next time, happy birthday! Thanks for watching
Another outstanding work of art incorporating natural wood with resin. I think the resin top would've been better, but the wood top is great. Maybe you could do another similar vase. Maybe a red or blue resin.
Great suggestion! Thanks so much!
Jim, you didn't disappoint.
Thank you very much
